Chapter 448: Chapter 448
Hearing Liang Laoshi speak with such certainty, everyone’s heart lightened a great deal.
If this problem had been resolved, then all of the concerns they just had seemed to fade away.
No matter how complex and longstanding the issue behind this incident was, it had been resolved, and that was all that mattered.
"Come on, young man, let’s talk about something else."
Liang Laoshi called out to Yang Fan, and the two of them walked aside.
Wei Juan peeked out and asked in a low voice, "Sister-in-law, do you think there’s some more troublesome matter that Liang Laoshi can’t discuss with so many people around and is telling Fanzi in secret?"
Ye Tong nodded with a serious expression, "It’s not impossible."
"If it really is as you suspect, things here will become very, very troublesome. We often hear about these strange stories, but very few have actually seen such things. Fanzi is not so lucky, having seen it with his own eyes."
Wei Juan sighed deeply, "Truly a terrible situation."
Ye Tong glanced at her and put an arm around Wei Juan’s shoulder, "Don’t get too nervous, perhaps the matter really has been resolved, and Liang Laoshi is just chatting with Fanzi about something else."
Wei Juan nodded lightly, but worry still wreathed her face in layers.
In reality, the matter Liang Laoshi was discussing with Yang Fan was not what the two women imagined.
It was about money!
People expected some compensation for their efforts.
"Youn man, about the matter we previously mentioned, normally when I come out for a job, depending on the situation, the minimum I charge is eight hundred, and for some more troublesome situations, two to three thousand, or even more," Liang Laoshi said.
"But for your case, you’ve killed that ghost thing with a single blow, and I didn’t even get the chance to lift a finger. Here, it’s just that the malevolent aura is a bit dense, and the handling isn’t too complicated, so I’ll just casually charge you ten yuan."
"Huh? Ten yuan?!" Yang Fan asked, surprised.
"There’s a condition, help me get a referral with that master," Liang Laoshi said with a smile.
"Mr., you take your money as usual, and as for that person, I’ll figure something out and take you to meet him," Yang Fan said, "But I can’t make any guarantees about this matter. The person is a friend’s grandfather, and I don’t know what his temperament is or whether he likes to deal with strangers."
Liang Laoshi nodded, "No problem, just try your best. Such people are sure to have some quirks. In our line of work, he’s a genuine master, a senior."
"I will do my best," Yang Fan said, "So you should take whatever amount you should."
"Also, there’s one more thing, didn’t you say you wanted to check on the people living here? It’s just over there, you might as well take a look later."
Liang Laoshi slapped his forehead and said with a chortle, "Right, right, right, I almost forgot that."
"Then, I’ll go take a look first, and we’ll discuss the money matter separately."
Yang Fan nodded, going along with Liang Laoshi’s suggestion.
Liang Laoshi turned and briskly walked over to where Zhou Wenhu and the others were.
Before Yang Fan had a chance to tell her who, Liang Laoshi’s gaze was already fixed on Wei Juan.
It seemed he still wanted to show off a skill to Yang Fan to prove his strength.
"Liang... Mr. Liang, why are you staring at me like that?" Wei Juan asked nervously, her hands protectively covering her trembling, small yet full bosom.
Liang Laoshi stared intently at Wei Juan, his eyelids flickering rapidly.
"It’s okay, it’s okay." Suddenly, Liang Laoshi chuckled, "Fanzi, my young friend, asked me to check on you all, to confirm once and for all that there’s no more trouble. It’s fine now, really, hehehe."
"Mr. Liang, are you sure there’s absolutely nothing wrong?" Zhou Wenhui asked doubtfully.
She felt that what Liang Laoshi was saying didn’t seem to genuinely mean that everything was okay.
Liang Laoshi, twiddling a curly hair on his mole, smiled and nodded slightly, "Rest assured, it’s truly all good now. Let’s see, you all chat for a bit, and I’ll walk Fanzi through the necessary procedures."
Yang Fan was dragged aside by Liang Laoshi once more.
Only this time, his expression was somewhat grave, "Fanzi, it looks like you’ve really run into some trouble this time."
"Hmm?"
Hearing him say this, Yang Fan immediately had an ominous premonition.
Liang Laoshi spoke in a serious tone, "That girl is truly possessed, and it has definitely been for some time now. However, I can’t quite make out what state she’s in at the moment; I have to take back what I said earlier. This matter is now somewhat beyond my understanding."
Yang Fan listened, somewhat confused, but he picked up on one thing—this situation was extremely tricky.
"Earlier, you said that after possession, it wouldn’t be the same person anymore, but Wei Juan seems quite normal now!" Yang Fan said. "She appears just as she did before, and there’s nothing wrong with the way she speaks."
If one really had to point something out, it would be that she now seemed to dress more daringly.
Liang Laoshi said in a muffled voice, "Yes, that’s why I said I have to retract my previous statement."
"In my understanding and from what I have learned, if a person is possessed by those entities, it definitely won’t be the same person anymore. Their movements become very stiff, and their disposition would change drastically, becoming reclusive and gloomy."
"Unless..."
Liang Laoshi’s brows suddenly furrowed deeply.
"Unless what?" Yang Fan pressed.
Liang Laoshi lifted his gaze and stared hard at Yang Fan, pronouncing each word clearly, "Unless it’s something much stronger!"
"What does that mean?" Yang Fan’s heart raced with urgency.
"You know that ordinary specters are completely matched by evil energy and resentment; they’re absolutely mindless, behaving no better than animals," Liang Laoshi said. "But I have read in ancient texts about some specters with formidable strength that evolve, or should I say, cultivate. They can possess intelligence and incredibly powerful abilities."
"However, right now, I’m just suspicious. I really can’t figure out what exactly is going on with that girl."
Hearing his equivocal and uncertain words, Yang Fan’s heart sank.
"Is Wei Juan in any danger now?" Yang Fan asked, his voice heavy.
"I can’t be certain, but judging by her condition, it seems there should be no issues for the time being," Liang Laoshi said. "However, it’s best if you don’t show any signs of suspicion, and certainly don’t use that wooden mace in your hand to provoke her."
"I feel we should now go see that master. If he was able to forge the Magic Artifact you hold, he surely knows much more than I do, and perhaps he has a solution."
Decisive, Yang Fan immediately agreed, "Okay, let’s set off right now."
"Inform your family, but whatever you do, do not reveal the girl’s true situation," Liang Laoshi instructed.
"Understood!"
