Chapter 442
Chapter 442: Chapter 442
Ye Tong and Wei Juan were so frightened by Yang Fan’s words that they instantly screamed like cats with their tails stepped on, squeezing together before quickly darting to Yang Fan’s side, their naked bodies tightly curled into his embrace.
"Fanzi, could it be, could it be that you had a nightmare?" Ye Tong’s little face turned pale as she asked anxiously.
Yang Fan, on alert, surveyed every corner of the room and shook his head, "I had already woken up by then, I was almost scared to death by that ghostly thing, damn it, it was only the length of a forearm away from me, any closer and I felt like I was about to kiss it."
"Ahh ahh...."
The two women burst into cries again, as if they wished to become dumplings and stick to Yang Fan’s body to death.
"Fanzi, are you really not just trying to scare us?" Ye Tong was so frightened she was almost in tears.
Yang Fan sighed helplessly, "Would I be crazy enough to scare you for no reason in the middle of the night?"
Wei Juan’s eyes darted around restlessly as she asked, trembling, "Actually... actually, now that Fanzi mentions it, I think I’ve experienced it too, but I didn’t think much of it at the time. Now that I think about it, if I had woken up then, maybe I would have seen it too."
"What is this even," said Ye Tong, her body trembling with tension.
Yang Fan put his arms around the two women and said sternly, "Keep calm, don’t be afraid, it’s not that bad."
"Do you think, do you think that thing can hear us talking now?" Ye Tong asked nervously.
"Who knows, we don’t even know what that thing is," Yang Fan picked up his phone and glanced at it.
Four o’clock in the morning.
There were still roughly two hours until dawn.
"Let’s not sleep anymore, just sit up like this, and we’ll figure something out after daybreak," Yang Fan suggested.
Ye Tong and Wei Juan both nodded their heads like pecking chickens.
Although they hadn’t seen what that thing looked like, Yang Fan’s description had frightened them enough.
Ye Tong and Wei Juan were not covered by a single piece of cloth, all their beauty laid bare.
But at that moment, Yang Fan had no such thoughts on his mind.
He kept his eyes glued to each corner of the room, especially that piece of glass above the door.
It was the only link the room had to the darkness outside.
Yet, having sat until light began to seep in from outside, Yang Fan did not see that mysterious face on the pane of glass again. It seemed that the crisis had passed.
Ye Tong and Wei Juan, like frightened kittens, stayed curled up in Yang Fan’s arms, not daring to move.
Yang Fan patted their smooth arms, "It’s okay now, dawn is almost here, get dressed. We’ll find someone to deal with this. This place is obviously not clean."
Wei Juan and Ye Tong both nodded.
Yang Fan let out a sigh of relief as well, as his heart that had stayed up in his throat finally began to relax.
He stretched and his gaze drifted unintentionally, suddenly noticing that pale face on the door.
It was pressed tightly against the glass, head tilted, staring at Yang Fan in an eerie stillness.
Yang Fan instantly felt as though someone had grabbed his throat.
His cheeks uncontrollably twitched, and his blood seemed to freeze in his veins.
"Fuck!"
Locked in a very calm staring contest with the oddity for what felt like dozens of seconds, he could no longer bear the intense fear and suddenly leaped out of bed, grabbing a shoe that he didn’t know whom it belonged to and hurling it over.
Bang!
The shoe struck the glass with a bang, and the face disappeared in a very mysterious manner.
Yang Fan gasped for air, the intense fear in his eyes now turning into a murderous rage.
No matter how others reacted, when he was pushed to the brink of fear, he would definitely act rashly.
"Fanzi, what’s wrong with you?" Ye Tong asked anxiously.
Yang Fan took a sharp, deep breath and laughed it off, waving his hand, "It’s nothing. I had a hallucination. I thought that ghostly thing was back. There was a huge moth on the window just now, almost scared me into a nervous breakdown."
He thought to himself that it was one thing for him to get scared, but now his sister-in-law and Wei Juan were involved too.
Both of them were quite emotionally fragile to begin with, and another scare might have left them needing to have their souls called back.
"It’s okay, it’s okay, there’s nothing wrong," Ye Tong said gently, stroking Yang Fan’s chest and soothingly reassuring him.
"People get like this when they’re too tense. Just relax. Look, it’s almost dawn, and those kinds of things definitely won’t appear during the day, so don’t be overly anxious."
Yang Fan nodded and asked, "Sister-in-law, do you know any Yin Yang Masters? This thing is clearly real, and we’re going to need someone with real skills to deal with it."
Faced with such a situation, he didn’t know whom else to turn to for help.
The Yin Yang Master was the only option.
Although Yang Fan knew a few himself, he had no real idea if they possessed genuine abilities or not.
"We might need to ask Little Mother about that; she knows a lot of people," Ye Tong said.
"Alright, let’s head home first and see if Little Mother knows someone suitable," Yang Fan suggested, "Xiao Juan, you shouldn’t stay here for the time being. Go home with sister-in-law and share a room."
Wei Juan had no objections and nodded in agreement.
With such an incident, she wouldn’t dare to stay here alone anymore; she wasn’t even sure if she could bear to stay during the day.
Staying with Yang Fan was undoubtedly the best choice.
The cold wind whispering in her ear was terrifying to think about, and her back felt like it was chilling to the core.
She hadn’t been living here long, but she had felt that sensation more than once.
She had really always thought it was just the wind blowing in from outside.
Dawn had broken.
The three of them left the village committee compound in a hurry without even washing their faces and rushed back home.
When they reached the doorstep, Ye Tong suddenly grabbed Yang Fan’s hand and said, "How are we going to explain last night’s events to Little Mother?"
Yang Fan was startled for a moment, then suddenly realized that this was indeed a problem.
"You two stay, and I wasn’t there," Yang Fan said, "It started because you two were too scared to sleep and called me, okay?"
After thinking it through, Ye Tong said, "Okay, that works. We’ll say that I saw it and Xiao Juan confirmed it."
"Alright."
After agreeing on their story, they walked into the house together.
Little Mother seemed to have just gotten up. As the three of them hurried in, she was wearing a beige nightgown, brushing her teeth while admiring the flowers and plants in the courtyard.
To others, these plants always looked the same.
But she could precisely notice which had sprouted a new shoot and which had blossomed anew.
"Oh my, what happened today? It’s still not fully bright and you three are all back together?" Zhou Wenhui said in surprise as if she was witnessing the sun rising from the west.
"Little Mother, do you know of a Yin Yang Master with real abilities?" Yang Fan asked.
"I think I do, what’s the matter?" Zhou Wenhui asked, puzzled.
Yang Fan glanced at Ye Tong and Wei Juan, "These two unfortunate ones, they’ve had a ghostly encounter."
