Chapter 416: Chapter 416

Uncle Han spoke so earnestly that Yang Fan really didn’t know what excuse to use to refuse him.

Their friendship was pretty good, and the man had spoken so sincerely and openly.

"Okay, just call me early, Uncle Han," Yang Fan said.

"Don’t worry about anything else; I’ll cover all your losses tomorrow, based on your highest-earning day," Uncle Han said.

Yang Fan chuckled; if it was based on that standard, Old Han would probably feel even more heartache.

His highest-earning day was nearly two hundred thousand.

"Don’t worry about that now, we’ll talk about it later," Yang Fan waved his hand, "I’m going to leave now, but remember to call me early tomorrow, I’ll come and play detective for you."

"Okay, sure."

Uncle Han was frantically searching through his own clothes before suddenly rushing to a nearby shop, "Xiao Yang, just wait for me."

Seeing him like this, Yang Fan was sure he was off to buy something.

He didn’t pay it any mind and left the barbecue stall directly.

Yang Fan couldn’t understand; Uncle Han’s daughter was so gentle and delicate, a university student, how could she fall for a man who might have a special identity and was nineteen years older than her? How had she even met him?

Could it be that the uncle’s charm was really so great that it could stop a young girl in her tracks?

He would see what it was all about tomorrow.

With the deep night around him, Yang Fan walked for about ten minutes through the intermittently bright and dim streets before returning to his little shop. Being slightly intoxicated, it wasn’t long before a deep sleepiness overwhelmed him as he lay in bed.

The night passed without events.

The next day, Yang Fan woke up early.

While he was washing up, customers had already started arriving.

Today was the day of the big market.

Every market day, Yang Fan’s store felt like a busy marketplace.

Especially with the recent mushroom harvesting, Yang Fan, who bought medicinal herbs, seemed even busier than those who went from street to street collecting mushrooms. However, this was just Yang Fan’s guess; he hadn’t really asked those people how much they collected.

But he thought that those who formally collected mushrooms probably wouldn’t be facing customers who came in teams with baskets full.

Sometimes being a little more generous with the customers had its benefits.

After a busy morning, Yang Fan had spent over thirty thousand, collecting a pile of mushrooms and medicinal herbs.

He needed to sell these goods quickly; they couldn’t just sit around.

One bad piece meant less money.

After carefully arranging everything, Yang Fan poured himself a cup of tea, calculating how to schedule his afternoon when Meng Zhu walked in with today’s lunch.

She was still dressed in her seemingly unchanged uniform of a professional blouse and a black pencil skirt.

But today she wore stockings.

The addition seemed to highlight Meng Zhu’s already sensual figure, making it even more glamorous.

"Old Bai, do you have any special plans today?" Yang Fan teased as he sipped his tea.

Meng Zhu, looking like she hadn’t fully woken up, asked listlessly, "What do you mean? What plans could I have, other than work and more work? "

"Even stockings made the schedule," Yang Fan mocked with a laugh.

"They say a woman dresses to please the one she likes. Has spring arrived for you, or wait, don’t tell me you dressed up just for me?"

Bai Mengzhu rolled her eyes. "Go die!"

"I often wear stockings, you know. If your eyes are really that bad, why not donate them? Help someone who actually needs them. To think I’d dress up specially for you—keep dreaming."

Yang Fan patted his chest, shaking his head in feigned despair, "Ah, it hurts! It seems I was just fooling myself."

"Yes, I can see that. You must have snapped if you didn’t think you spouted nonsense!" Bai Mengzhu rolled her eyes again. "Come on, it’s time to eat!"

"What’s on the menu today?" Yang Fan asked with a smile.

"See for yourself!" Bai Mengzhu huffed.

Yang Fan walked over and opened his lunchbox. "This looks rich. But I have an impolite request. Can you fulfill it?"

"No!" Bai Mengzhu flatly refused Yang Fan, not even letting him say what it was.

"How about you listen first?" Yang Fan asked with a chuckled.

This woman had suddenly become so clever, not even giving him a chance for a chat.

"Speak!" Bai Mengzhu opened her lunchbox and sat down on the sofa.

That buttocks wrapped in a tight pencil skirt created a very tempting curve, so plump and round that one couldn’t help but want to bite it.

"Can I eat you first?" Yang Fan asked, laughing.

Bai Mengzhu suddenly looked up, gritting her teeth. "I really want to kill you! Can’t you say something decent?"

"Isn’t what I said decent? Love between a man and a woman is natural. ’A fair lady, a gentleman’s delight’—what’s wrong with that? Your beauty is irresistible. Your gentleness, wild as it seems, only makes me yearn for you even more. What’s wrong with me expressing my feelings?" Yang Fan said with emphatic sincerity.

Bai Mengzhu was stunned.

In disbelief, she looked at Yang Fan and said, "I think I need to re-evaluate you. Wait—you said what kind of gentleness? Like a wild person’s gentleness? Come on, explain to me first what that adjective is supposed to mean."

"Although it’s a bit coarse, what I meant is, your gentleness is pure. Wild people must be some of the purest human beings," Yang Fan said with a smile.

"Go to hell! You think I’m an idiot!" Bai Mengzhu rolled her eyes massively. "Shut up and eat. If you don’t, I might just feed it to the dogs."

Though she sounded fierce, the corners of her mouth couldn’t help curling up in a faint smile.

"Alright, alright, let’s eat. This unrequited love truly torments me," Yang Fan sighed as he sat down.

He and Bai Mengzhu maintained their banter routine daily.

But it was obvious to anyone who saw, their relationship was progressing gradually.

Yang Fan felt that rolling in the bedsheets wasn’t far off now.

"I must say, your cooking skills are genuinely impressive. Try a little harder, and I believe you might nearly catch up to Little Mother," Yang Fan said after a few bites, unable to resist expressing his admiration.

Bai Mengzhu’s eyelids twitched slightly, challengingly asking, "Little Mother is a good cook?"

"She’s a reclusive master chef, I’m not bragging about that," Yang Fan replied.

Bai Mengzhu snorted, "You jerk, if you’re going to praise me, just do it without comparing me to someone else."

"What’s up? Old Bai, you’re pissed, huh!" Yang Fan shouted.

Bai Mengzhu proudly raised her cheek, "Jerk, jerk, what are you gonna do about it?"

"You’ll pay for this, daring to speak to me like that." Yang Fan stood up, his hands firmly gripping Bai Mengzhu’s cheeks, and he bit down hard, his tongue instantly prying apart her tightly clenched teeth and diving in.
