Chapter 398: Chapter 398
This time, Yang Fan’s apology was genuinely earnest, which caught Bai Mengzhu off guard.
"What did you just say? Say it again, let me hear it," Bai Mengzhu, suspiciously looking at Yang Fan, asked.
Yang Fan: ...
Alright, I’ll indulge you.
He looked at Bai Mengzhu sincerely and seriously, and said again, "I was wrong!"
After speaking, he rolled up his sleeves to show Bai Mengzhu his recent handiwork, "Look, if you had kept biting, I think you really would have bitten it off. I had no choice but to stop you using that method just now."
Seeing the clear and already slightly bloodied bite marks, Bai Mengzhu felt a little embarrassed and muttered weakly, "Serves you right, it’s your fault for not holding your tongue, I forgive you, but you... can’t hold a grudge."
"No worries, as long as I’m not dead, I won’t give up on you," Yang Fan said with a smile.
Bai Mengzhu glared at him fiercely, "You really should die!"
Having said that, she turned around and left the shop.
Yang Fan was stunned.
She got angry all of a sudden?
It seemed that his words had indeed been too harsh.
This made Yang Fan feel somewhat guilty.
But just as he was pondering how to properly apologize to Bai Mengzhu, she suddenly came back in and threw a box of band-aids in front of Yang Fan, proudly declaring, "Put them on."
The tension that had just built up in Yang Fan’s heart instantly relaxed.
It seemed there was no need for an apology after all.
"For such a big bite mark, one box of band-aids might only be used once, never mind, it’s not a big deal," Yang Fan said.
"Put them on!" Bai Mengzhu commanded in a firm tone.
Yang Fan smiled helplessly, "Alright, alright, I’ll put them on."
Although he didn’t use the whole box, it still took eight band-aids to completely cover the marks Bai Mengzhu had bitten.
Applying them to this kind of wound might have some effect, but probably not much.
The verbal sparring between the two paused for now.
Afterward, Yang Fan didn’t joke anymore, and Bai Mengzhu didn’t retort back, allowing them to quietly enjoy their lunch together.
After cleaning up the utensils, Yang Fan waited for Bai Mengzhu to start work, and went with her to the bank to fulfill the promise he had made. All he had to do was open a new account and transfer the money from the old one.
It was not too much trouble.
After getting things sorted, Bai Mengzhu walked Yang Fan out, her lips curving into a smile although her tone was filled with annoyance, "You dealt with that quite well, go back now. Wait for me to finish work; I’ll make you something nice to eat in the evening."
"Oh, and if you’re not in the shop, remember to send me a message ahead of time."
Yang Fan smiled, nodded, waved his hand, and crossed the street back to Bai Cao Pavilion.
There weren’t any customers in the afternoon.
Yang Fan suddenly found himself not knowing what to do again.
Other people’s businesses ran like a steady flow, stable and sure.
But his, well, it was either no customers at all or a huge crowd, just like a sudden cloudburst.
Sometimes he was swamped, other times he was bored to tears.
Bored out of his mind, Yang Fan pulled up a chair to sit at the door, holding a teacup and watching the passersby on the street.
In that moment, he felt as if he had prematurely started his retirement life.
Today wasn’t a market day, and there weren’t many customers in the shop or people on the street.
Suddenly, Yang Fan spotted a girl with chestnut-brown dyed hair.
Her outfit was quite eye-catching.
A tank top with shorts, paired with slippers.
Her chest wasn’t particularly large, but when she walked, the movement was quite noticeable.
Yang Fan noticed immediately that the girl was braless.
Such daring attire was rare in town.
Yang Fan’s gaze followed the girl from the right side of the street to directly in front of him.
As she approached, he began to see even more.
From the loose armholes of her wide vest, a bundle of snow-white flesh swayed rhythmically with her steps.
In an instant, Yang Fan’s eyes went wide, and his mood brightened considerably.
To think he would witness such a scene.
Suddenly, the girl made a sharp turn and walked straight up to Yang Fan.
"You disgusting man, have you seen enough?" the girl glared at Yang Fan, angrily questioning him.
She appeared to be in her mid to late twenties, with a hint of a professional vibe, possibly some urban white-collar worker.
Yang Fan hadn’t expected to be caught and feigned ignorance, "Seen what?"
"Pretending you did nothing, huh? Why are you such a lowlife? Do you believe I can accuse you of harassment?" the girl shouted.
Upon hearing this, Yang Fan laughed, "Why shouldn’t I admit it? You’re dressed like that in public. How does looking at you twice become harassment? Did I lay a hand on you? Besides, aren’t you dressed like that for people to see?"
"What I wear is my freedom, but you can’t look!" the girl stated emphatically.
"Alright, I’m done arguing with you. I’m calling the police! Let’s see what the police have to say, you wait to be jailed!"
"What else can they say other than you’re making a fuss over nothing? You’re not the emperor in new clothes, so don’t force others to share your opinion," Yang Fan retorted disdainfully.
He really almost couldn’t help but laugh.
What the hell was she thinking?
She actually thought this would land him in trouble, how naively pitiful.
As she furiously dialed to call the police, Yang Fan blatantly continued to gaze down her neckline.
He not only looked but also intended to look openly!
Even though her mind seemed a bit off and her temper foul, the sight down her neckline was still quite appealing.
The girl mumbled a bunch to the police, and then... it seemed she got lectured.
She didn’t even get to see the police face-to-face, crumbling her plans to have Yang Fan arrested.
"You filthy rogue, haven’t you had enough?" the girl, annoyed, hung up her phone and suddenly noticed Yang Fan’s very direct gaze. She quickly covered her neckline and suddenly escalated her voice, shouting loudly.
"The police aren’t handling you, no problem, I have other ways, I’ll ruin your reputation! Everyone, come look, this filthy rogue, he..."
This move by the girl indeed shocked Yang Fan.
"Wait!" Yang Fan quickly called out.
He still had business to do on this street, and he couldn’t stand being pointed at all day long.
"I’ll give you five thousand, let me have a go!" Yang Fan decided to use money to pave his way, reversing the situation to regain some of his pride.
She was dressed like that and blamed others for looking!
The girl scoffed disdainfully, "Five thousand to have a go at me? You fucking think I’m what kind of person? Even if I were to give..."
"Eight thousand!" Yang Fan stated emotionlessly.
"Forget it, is your brain squashed by a door?"
"Ten thousand!" Yang Fan shouted, feeling the pinch.
He hadn’t even gotten the retaliation he wanted, and it felt like a blockage was growing inside him.
"Are you serious?" the girl paused, asking.
