Chapter 317: Chapter 317
Yang Fan turned his head towards Bai Mengzhu who was still dressed in a business suit, "Do you know what this is?"
"I have a rough idea of what Thunderstruck Wood is used for." Bai Mengzhu walked over and took the Wooden Whip from Yang Fan’s hands.
Yang Fan slightly twitched his nose, it seemed like she had changed her perfume today.
The fragrance was somewhat heavy.
"Miss Bai, what can it do?" Ye Tong asked curiously.
Bai Mengzhu examined the Wooden Whip in Yang Fan’s hand and said, "It can be used to beat... ghosts!"
"Ah?"
"Hmm?"
Yang Fan and Ye Tong’s expressions simultaneously became a bit blank, like two big question marks.
Bai Mengzhu laughed a little, "Nowadays, some people also like to use Thunderstruck Wood for making bracelets and other ornamental objects, but its essential use is as a Magic Artifact. Haven’t you seen a Taoist carrying a wooden sword?"
"Isn’t that made of peach wood?" Yang Fan asked.
"Peach wood is the basic, but Thunderstruck Wood is better, and peach wood from Thunderstruck Wood is the best," Bai Mengzhu said. "Actually, you could try taking it out at night to a graveyard and swing it around to see if it hits anything!"
Yang Fan really wanted to roll his eyes, "Your idea smells worse than decades-old slop water!"
"Truly, it’s a very constructive suggestion," Bai Mengzhu said with a bent eyebrow and a faint smile, "This should be its only and most proper usage, apart from this, it could only serve as an ornament."
"I guess I’ll just use it as an ornament then," Yang Fan said, shaking his head.
Carrying it to hit ghosts in a graveyard at night, who could think of such an idea?
Only a fool would do that.
Bai Mengzhu handed the Wooden Whip back to Yang Fan, "I’ve finished my work for today, I’ll come back at noon! By the way, should I cook for several people at lunch? Never mind, we’ll see when I get there."
She answered herself.
"Miss Bai, why don’t you sit for a while?" Ye Tong suggested.
"No thanks, I’m already late for work today." Bai Mengzhu waved her hand and left the shop, twisting her slender waist.
After her figure vanished, Ye Tong nudged Yang Fan’s arm and whispered, "How did you turn your landlord into a housemaid? Is there something I don’t know between you two?"
Under sister-in-law’s scrutinizing gaze, Yang Fan said, "It’s a deal! She’s using me, she definitely has to give something in return."
Then he talked about Bai Mengzhu and her Ex-husband.
After listening, Ye Tong laughed helplessly, "You, you... she’s a young lady and also your landlord, how could you be so impolite? A simple apology would have sufficed, but you insisted on making her be your maid for three months!"
"Sister-in-law, that ex-husband of hers is a loafer, I’m risking getting retaliated against here!" Yang Fan muttered.
Ye Tong didn’t persuade further, only smiled and shook her head, "Well, you did the right thing."
"Sister-in-law, no customers and no one else around, now is a good time..." Yang Fan sneaked closer to Ye Tong with mischief in his eyes.
But before he could finish his sentence, he saw Yang Yuan walking in wearing a floral dress and carrying two bags.
Yang Fan was stunned.
Ye Tong chuckled quietly, playfully prodding Yang Fan.
"What perfect timing," Yang Fan grumbled quietly in annoyance.
"Sister-in-law, smelly brother, come eat some lychees, they just got delivered this morning, very fresh." Yang Yuan didn’t notice the awkwardness between Yang Fan and Ye Tong and happily placed the bags on the coffee table.
Ye Tong, trying to contain her laughter, glanced at Yang Fan and said with a smile, "Try some."
"I’m a bit full now," Yang Fan muttered, "I’ll just have a tea to moisten my lungs."
He was never much for fruits and snacks, preferring things like honey beans.
Unfortunately, Yang Yuan’s timing was just too perfect, arriving right before Bai Mengzhu, leaving him no chance to show off.
Ye Tong covered her mouth and chuckled softly, ignoring Yang Fan and sitting down on the couch with Yang Yuan to enjoy the lychees and strawberries that Yang Yuan had been going on about since last night.
The strawberries were from a greenhouse and tasted quite ordinary, but the lychees were indeed fresh.
"Oh sister-in-law, this water is so much!" Yang Yuan exclaimed as the lychee she cracked open splashed her face with juice.
Ye Tong’s cheeks turned red suddenly, and she spit out lightly, "It’s just high juice content, what do you mean ’so much water’!"
Wiping the juice splashed on her face, Yang Yuan muttered in confusion, "High juice content means a lot of water, right? What’s the difference?"
"Well... it just sounds a bit exaggerated," Ye Tong mumbled, lips pursed.
Yang Fan, who was drinking tea, almost spit out his tea.
Sister-in-law was getting less proper by the moment.
Just one phrase, and it triggered her thoughts.
But really, when it came to water content, the two of them weren’t much different; Yang Yuan wasn’t far behind.
After all, her body was just an eighteen-year-old’s, tender and sensitive.
Just then, a customer walked in.
"Boss, do you buy all kinds of herbs here?"
He spoke with a heavy accent, his skin was dark, and he wore glasses for nearsightedness.
He looked like someone who roamed around various places all year long.
"As long as it’s legally allowed, we buy everything!" Yang Fan said.
"Then have a look, I’ve collected quite a bit recently. See what you want, if the price is right, I’ll clear everything out for you. I need to free up my car, take a break for two days before heading to the next place," the customer gestured outside while speaking.
"Okay, let me have a look first."
Yang Fan stood up and followed the out-of-towner out of the shop.
At the entrance, off to the side, there was a car that looked many years old, crammed full of various items, looking like a mobile herbal medicine supermarket. From afar, Yang Fan could smell the mix of herbal aromas.
"Wow, you really have a complete selection here!" Yang Fan admired after a glance.
"I pick up whatever I can wherever I go; indeed, I do have many varieties," the out-of-towner said, grinning with his bright white teeth.
However, after casually checking a few items, Yang Fan lost interest in looking further.
All fake!
This brother’s appearance of collecting mountain goods must be fake too.
"Brother, to be honest, you can’t think that everyone who buys dried herbs is a fool, right?" Yang Fan dusted off his hands and gave up on continuing to look, fearing any more inspection might incur a wear and tear fee that wouldn’t be worth it.
"What do you mean, boss? Is there something wrong with my goods?" the out-of-towner asked, somewhat displeased.
Yang Fan waved his hand, not wanting to waste words with such people, and said, "You can go now, I can’t buy your goods."
The out-of-town man stared at Yang Fan for a while with a grin, then suddenly stretched out two fingers and said, "Boss, cheap! Even at one-tenth the price you could make quite a bit. With these goods, you could earn at least three or four thousand. Come on, take them."
He knew he was selling fake goods.
And he had just been there pretending, pretending my ass!
