Luo Huian refused at once. The last thing she wanted was for her plan to go astray once again, that too with her watching everything unfold in front of her. She looked at the two children and said to the mers in the living hall, "You cannot keep these children. They are not dogs or cats that you can keep just because you want to. They have a parent who is their guardian, and they are legally his responsibility. You cannot just go ahead and keep them because you find them cute!"

The moment she finished speaking, Luo Huian knew that she had spoken the wrong words because the four mers turned to look at her as if she had committed a horrible crime.

"How can you say such a thing!?"

"Can’t you see that they are scared?"

"This is truly too much! Just look at the scars that are on the arm of the little girl."

"Huian, I didn’t expect such a thing from you."

In the end, even though Luo Huian was fully against the entire plan of keeping the children with them, the mers didn’t listen to a thing she was saying. By the time she snapped out of her shock of getting rejected, the children were having a nice, cosy bath.

"Oh my god, do they even take me seriously?" Luo Huian gasped as she looked at the mers taking care of the two brats. Hello, she was trying to take care of them here. Why were they treating her like she was their enemy?

"Pathetic," fumed Xiao Hei. "I knew that humans were weak to cute things, but—" He was still speaking when the little mer tilted his head to one side and smiled at Xiao Hei. Unlike the grown-ups, he could see Xiao Hei and Xiao Bai, as his energy was too pure. "Awww, isn’t he just adorable? I mean very bad. They are really pathetic to let themselves be fooled by the cuteness of a baby." he added when he saw Luo Huian looking at him with a hint of glare in her eyes.

Luo Huian rolled her eyes before turning to walk out of the room. She needed a break —a really, really long break.

However, her plan to take a rest was disrupted by the sudden ringing of her phone. Pulling it out with a sigh, she took a look at the displayed number, and sure enough, it was the call of the mer nanny whom she had arranged.

Taking another exasperated sigh, she muttered angrily, "Sure, dive into the world of cuteness and leave the matter of taking the serious matters to me."

She picked up the call and said, "Hello?"

"Miss Luo!" The mer nanny seemed to be close to crying. He said to her in an aggrieved voice, "Miss Luo, I am really sorry. The children—they ran away; I have no idea where they went. I have searched the entire hospital and I haven’t found them... what am I supposed to do?"

"There is no need for you to worry... the kids were moved by us." Luo Huian didn’t want to trouble a poor mer who had done nothing wrong to be worried to death because of these stubborn husbands of hers.

She heard the sigh of the mer nanny from the other side and then heard him say, "But why did you move her, Miss Luo? I didn’t even receive any order, and the doctors have no idea as well; just what happened all of a sudden?"

I didn’t move them! roared Luo Huian inside her heart, but on the surface, she simply clenched her fist and smiled before saying in a sweet voice, "It was my mistake, Mister Fan. I forgot to tell you that the girl has gotten a surgery lined up for grafting a new layer of skin on the burned one. I have also arranged for a new team of doctors to work on her nerves. Maybe she will be able to use her hands as she used to?"

As soon as she finished speaking, the mer nanny smiled on the other side at the hospital. He placed his hand on his chest and said, "You are really kind, Miss Luo. You even went so far just to help the child." However, he paused and then frowned before saying to Luo Huian, "But what am I supposed to tell their father? He will naturally ask me where the kids went, and given how greedy that mer is, he will not let go of the children so easily. What if he causes trouble for you and the Luo family?"

’Of course he will cause trouble for me and my family,’ thought Luo Huian. She raised her hand and pinched the bridge of her nose before saying to the mer nanny, "Just tell him that the children will be back in a week." She paused and added, "I will send you three million yuan, just give it to him. Tell him that this is just a little bit of compensation for the trouble we have given him."

There was no trouble, but Luo Huian could only avoid the storm for now. She was not in the city, and she couldn’t deal with the mer. Though she was not afraid of bad publicity, the last thing she wanted was to get any worries when she was here to relax.

What was more, that girl —she clearly had a Hollow within her.

Luo Huian sensed it the second the girl stepped out of the trunk. This was the reason why she didn’t want to keep those children with her. She was worried that the Hollow within the girl would become active and tear a hole in the sky.

There was no one here other than her and four mers who couldn’t do anything. Without any hunter by her side, how was she going to deal with the hollow?

’They really caused trouble for me,’ thought Luo Huian as she rubbed her eyes with her forefinger and thumb.

"Don’t worry; I will deal with that mer accordingly, Miss Luo." Realising that Luo Huian wanted Ye Jinglan under control, the mer nanny understood his mission at once. "I will arrange everything; you can leave this matter in my hands."

Luo Huian knew that this mer was smart enough to understand what he could say and what he wasn’t supposed to say; thus, she nodded and said to him, "I will transfer the money to you. Make that mer stay quiet for just a week. I will bring the children back by then."

"I understand, Miss Luo."

After finishing the call, Luo Huian transferred the money to the mer nanny along with a little more money for his expenses and trouble he would have to go through because of her. Once she was done, she paused and called Doctor Si.

"Hello?" The man was quite surprised when he received Luo Huian’s call. He frowned and attended her call with a hint of shock. "What wind blew you my way, Second Miss Luo?"

Luo Huian didn’t waste his or her time before saying to him, "Doctor Si, do you know anyone who can mend burnt nerves —it will be better if they can graft skin."

When Doctor Si heard her unusual request, he frowned and pushed his glasses up his nose. He said to her, "That’s a rather peculiar request you have there."

"Just tell me if you can help me or not?" Luo Huian didn’t have the patience to listen to his usual chatter. She was already running low on patience. Especially with four mers ruining every single plan that she had. One being her own father.

"Alright, alright," Doctor Si pushed his glasses up his nose once. He pursed his lips and then said to Luo Huian, "I do have a friend; his name is Doctor Tan. I can talk with him and see if he is willing to take on this case. But can you at least tell me who the patient is?"

"It’s a child. A little girl around the age of nine or ten."

Leaning back on his chair, Doctor Si let out a sigh. "Ah, this is going to be difficult."

"What do you mean it’s going to be difficult?" Luo Huian asked with her frown getting deeper. Ah, she needed to send word to Elder Xi and have him send more beauty pills, or else she was going to ruin her beautiful face.

"It’s nothing. Just a little problem..."

"What is the problem?"

"Doctor Tan hates children."

Luo Huian: "...."

"And you are saying that this is a small problem?" She asked in a tight voice. Her teeth were gritted so hard that she was about to grind them into dust.

Luo Huian ended the call. This was the second time someone had asked her to sell her body, and unfortunately, she had a feeling that she indeed had to go ahead and seduce this mer.
