Chapter 98: Quite Strange
Chapter 98: Chapter 98: Quite Strange
p.m.
Julia Land turned her head and took a bite of the potato chip Sophia Hart had fed her, then posted a tweet.
She tagged the fake Autumn Knowles in her tweet.
"I gave you a chance, but you didn’t come forward to admit your mistake; I have already taken you to court."
At this hour, there were still plenty of night owls online.
It wasn’t long after Julia used the real Autumn Knowles’ account to post this tweet.
Many comments appeared underneath.
[Where’s the evidence? Show it to everyone. Don’t tell me it’s just all talk?]
[If you have the guts, release the evidence first.]
[Is Orange Inc just flailing now? Such a small company and already making threats, police have been notified.]
Emma Martin felt uneasy when she saw the lawsuit coming her way.
She called that person, "She said she’s going to sue me, what should I do? Does she really have evidence?"
Sister Wilson looked at the message and replied, "Don’t worry, I’ll pay you the remaining amount right now."
Emma Martin was, of course, worried, and she felt panicked.
But when she saw the notification of a 600,000 transfer into her bank account, her panic was mixed with joy.
600,000—she’d have to work for a long time to earn that.
Her happiness, however, was short-lived.
Because the real Autumn Knowles had posted the evidence on Twitter.
Julia was in the habit of recording when she composed music, although she never showed her face in the videos.
Each time she wrote a song, she used to record it and play it for Violet.
One of the songs she had Austin Langston sing was the one she had played for Violet on his birthday three years ago.
At that time, Violet had recorded it.
She was turned away from the camera, which captured only below her neck.
Playing the guitar and singing to herself.
Thinking of Violet, Julia exited Twitter.
"Sophia, I’m going to take a shower and go to bed."
"Okay."
Julia walked into the bedroom, sat on the couch, leaning against it.
Staring at the ceiling with her eyes wide open.
Sometimes she didn’t know why, but she felt a disgust toward herself.
It was strange.
Julia sighed and picked up her phone to make a call.
The call was answered on the other end.
Julia talked slowly, "I’m going to Imperial View Gardens for a nanny interview."
"I understand, Miss Land. Take care of yourself."
"Thank you."
Bella Quarter was recruiting a new nanny.
Julia hung up the phone, her expression turning complex.

Emma Martin turned pale as she watched the video the real Autumn Knowles had posted.
It was over.
Her fingers trembled as she tried calling the person who had asked her to impersonate Autumn Knowles, but the call wouldn’t go through.
Emma decided to try and save herself; she posted an apology on Twitter.
"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to impersonate Autumn Knowles. Someone paid me to do it. My family is in debt, my mother is sick, and I have younger siblings to take care of."
"I’m suffocated by debt, and I have to carry all the family burdens. I’m really sorry to Autumn Knowles, but I really needed the money. I’m so, so sorry."
Now, all Emma could do was to place herself in the position of the victim.
People tend to sympathize with the underdog.
Emma’s financial situation was known to her neighbors who she got along with well, and thus, some were willing to speak out on her behalf.
[She’s a poor child.]
[Works day and night. If possible, please give her a chance to start afresh, Autumn Knowles.]
[If I were ever that desperate for money, I might do the same thing.]
Online, there emerged two voices, one condemning the wrongdoing, another pleading for mercy on her behalf.
Emma Martin saw a glimmer of hope.

In the morning, Julia woke up, checked the message Douglas Hayes had sent, and then checked Twitter.
Below the real Autumn Knowles’ tweet, there was a flood of comments pleading mercy for Emma.
She felt like she was being roasted on a pedestal of high moral standards.
If she didn’t forgive the impersonator, she would be viewed as heartless and cruel.
If she forgave her, others might think she was a saint.
Indeed, in this world, it was hard to be either a good person or a bad one.
Julia posted a neutral tweet, "I empathize with the impersonator’s plight. See you in court, wrong is wrong, but I’ll give some money to your mom for your siblings."
Netizens, "?"
Could this even be done?
Because Julia’s post left no room for criticism.
Arabella Shaw saw the tweet, and her face darkened; had she been losing lately, with nothing going her way?
The scrutiny from Noah last night had nearly scared her to death.
And today, the real Autumn Knowles’ tweet infuriated her further.
This incident had been planned for a long time, yet not only did it end up advertising Orange Brokerage for free, but it even led to Austin Langston returning to the recording of "My Voice" now that things had been resolved.
While Arabella was irritated, the butler, with Noah’s approval, phoned to consult her,
"Miss Shaw, this afternoon at one o’clock, two nannies will come to apply for the nanny position. Will you come back?"
"Why the sudden change of nannies?" Arabella frowned.
"The gentleman instructed to look for more attentive nannies," the butler replied.
Arabella, hearing that it was Noah’s directive, breathed a sigh of relief.
If he cared for the children, it meant he didn’t have major issues with her.
After considering, Arabella told the butler, "It’s fine, you handle the selection of the nanny."
The butler, "Yes."
He sighed internally, realizing Miss Shaw clearly prioritized her career.

While Julia was making coffee for the disconsolate Thomas Sullivan, her phone vibrated with a new message.
[I succeeded in the interview]
Julia looked at the message and silently deleted it.
