Goodbye, Ex-husband! I’m Pregnant with Your Uncle’s Child! -
Chapter 93 About Your Secret
Chapter 93: Chapter 93 About Your Secret
Arabella Shaw took a bath and then went to the study to find Noah Quarter.
Only one lamp was on in the study.
Noah wasn’t working.
He was simply leaning back in his chair, eyes closed, resting.
Arabella came in and told him that the engagement party invitations had been sent out.
Her smile was incredibly sweet.
"Mm," Noah opened his eyes and gave a faint smile, "Thank you for your hard work."
Arabella’s tone was light, "It’s not hard at all, I’m very happy."
She would soon be Mrs. Quarter!
Noah looked at her, his narrow eyes slightly squinting, "As long as you’re happy. Have you gone to see our daughter tonight? I haven’t visited little Bella for many days now."
His question was laden with meaning.
Arabella laughed, "I will go see little Bella tomorrow morning; she’s sleeping at this time anyway."
Noah paused, then hummed in response and turned on his computer, preparing to work.
Seeing that he was getting ready to work, Arabella didn’t bother him further, "Don’t work too late, okay?"
She leaned on the desk, kissed his forehead quickly, and then turned to leave the study.
Noah’s eyes didn’t show any particular emotion.
He pulled out a tissue to wipe his forehead.
He had already reminded her to visit their daughter.
And still, she said she would go tomorrow.
As a mother, if one had any love at all, shouldn’t she want to check on her child after getting home?
Noah brooded over his misjudgment.
He took out his cell phone and dialed Julia Land’s number.
He knew that Julia had blacklisted his number; his call wouldn’t go through.
So, he switched to using the study’s landline to call.
This time the call connected.
"Hello? Who is this?"
The voice of the woman on the other end was still slightly out of breath from exercising.
Noah couldn’t believe he was listening to her panting.
He didn’t reply.
Julia glanced at the caller ID, recognizing it as an unfamiliar number; it was either a nuisance call or a wrong number.
She hung up the phone.
She had just been lying on top of James Thompson, who had the tips of his feet planted on the ground, rocking the rocking chair.
It felt like a delicate balancing game.
A very innocent rocking.
"This rocking chair is really nice; I should buy one for our home."
"Sure."
James Thompson responded hoarsely.
He held her waist and started rocking the chair again in an orderly fashion.
Her soft body was very comfortable.
*
The next morning, Julia and James Thompson went to look at houses.
They were supposed to look at houses yesterday.
But because James had to go to the emergency room last minute, they had to postpone it to today.
James received a call early in the morning and went to the balcony to answer.
His expression was lax.
He leaned lazily against the railing as he talked on the phone with a manager from an overseas company.
"Accettare la sua richiesta," he said, meaning "I accept your request."
He talked for almost an hour.
When he finished, he looked at his watch.
He walked back into the bedroom to wake up Julia.
When James first started waking Julia, his voice was very gentle.
But as he kept calling her, Julia could still pull the blanket over her head and pretend to sleep.
He raised an eyebrow and lifted a corner of the blanket.
Slipping a mobile phone inside.
The phone was made of metal and felt a little cold.
He poked Julia’s waist gently with the phone.
Julia shifted her waist to avoid it and pulled off the blanket.
Opened her eyes.
She saw him slowly pulling the phone out from under the blanket.
"..."
"Mr. Thompson, this will make me mad."
Who wakes someone up by poking them with a phone???
Julia, lying in bed, looked at him, her eyes still foggy from sleep, the neckline of her pajamas slightly open.
Revealing her delicate collarbone.
James Thompson knelt on one knee on the bed.
His hands were braced on the mattress.
He moved closer to her.
His facial features were sharp, his eyes intense.
Their noses almost touching.
"Really not getting up?"
In that instant closeness, both were enveloped in each other’s warmth.
Being close, the tattoo of the black mamba on his arm seemed poised like a predator ready to strike.
Julia pushed against his chest with her index finger.
James lowered his head to kiss her collarbone, then stood up; Julia sat up and scratched her head.
Julia Land was brushing her teeth when she slid over to look at Orange Inc.’s official website on her phone.
The official website had been blasted into surrender by comments.
Austin Langston’s Weibo was also filled with barrage of criticism.
She checked the Weibo of the person impersonating Autumn Knowles.
Below the impostor’s Weibo posts were comforting messages from fans.
Julia Land rinsed her mouth out, put down her toothbrush and cup, and sent Douglas Hayes a message.
Julia Land, "I guess Winchester Place might also be fanning the flames this time."
Douglas Hayes, "Yes, are you planning to make an appearance to clarify things this time? If you don’t show up, I’m afraid the netizens won’t accept this kind of proof."
Julia Land, "No need to appear, let’s just let this fire burn a little longer."
Julia Land walked out of the bathroom with her phone.
As she was changing her clothes, she initially chose a skirt, but was forbidden by James Thompson.
"You need to wear pants today; skirts aren’t really convenient."
James Thompson fastened her clothes with one hand while reaching over her with the other to pull out a pair of pants from the wardrobe for her.
Julia Land glanced at him and didn’t ask any further, opting for pants then.
Ever since Julia Land occasionally started spending the night here, she also kept a set of spare clothes.
Choosing a house normally could be handled directly by Assistant Winters.
But James Thompson and Julia Land were probably both peculiar in that way, preferring to pick out a place themselves.
Meanwhile, in the Noble Grid Hotel parking lot, there was a heavy motorcycle parked.
Julia Land stood beside the motorcycle and finally understood why James Thompson told her to wear pants.
James Thompson handed her a helmet and with long strides, mounted the motorcycle and donned his own, "Little Julia, hop on."
Julia Land had a mischievous grin, hugging her arms while squinting at James Thompson’s broad shoulders.
"Have you ever been to Ridgeview?"
She recalled a time in Ridgeview when a man rode a motorcycle.
As he passed her, he gave her a very arrogant thumbs-down.
James Thompson chuckled softly.
Julia Land was annoyed.
She got on the bike, sitting behind him, and suddenly opened her mouth to bite his neck.
James Thompson took a sharp breath.
His eyes, dark and intense, warned her not to start something she couldn’t finish.
"Not today, we’re here to look at houses."
Warning her not to ignite a fire that wouldn’t let them house-hunt.
"Let’s go, drive." Julia Land pulled down her helmet visor, wrapped her arms around his waist, and nonchalantly urged him on.
James Thompson snorted at her daring tease with a cowardly heart.
*
James Thompson rode the motorcycle very fast, his skills impeccable.
Much like how he was in bed.
Demolishingly skilled.
Julia Land sat behind him, enjoying the rushing wind against her skin.
They arrived at the real estate agency, where, after an introduction, Julia Land chose a Chinese-style detached house.
The house wasn’t very big, but it had a yard.
It was well-located with convenient amenities and a security wall.
After visiting the house with the realtor, they decided to buy it.
Back at the real estate agency, Julia Land took out a bank card.
This was James Thompson’s card.
At that moment, a hushed female voice could be heard, "Look, it’s her making the payment for the house, not the man with her."
"I knew it, the guy she’s dating must not be doing well financially."
Their conversation didn’t specifically mention names.
Julia Land turned her head and saw two girls.
She had a good memory; these two girls had been at the same table with Chloe Sullivan at the Italian restaurant.
When they saw her looking, they laughed casually.
Julia Land raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on her lips as she turned her gaze away.
James Thompson glanced at the two girls indifferently and also looked away.
Both of them completely disregarded what the irrelevant people were saying.
The girls, seeing that Julia Land and the man didn’t dare to speak up, smirked in triumph.
Sure enough, they didn’t dare make a noise.
They texted Chloe Sullivan about what they had seen that day.
After buying the house, Julia Land and James Thompson decided to celebrate with a big meal.
They went to have a western-style meal, and it wasn’t long before James Thompson’s phone rang.
It was a call from Jasper Winters.
James Thompson took the call and his face darkened as he listened to Jasper’s report.
"Little Julia, I have to hold an emergency meeting. Do you want to come back to the Noble Grid Hotel with me?"
Julia Land, "No need, I’m heading back to Sincere Heart tonight."
She waved him off, telling James Thompson to hurry along and also insisting that he leave the motorcycle for her.
Seeing her dismissively waving him away, James Thompson ruffled her hair in annoyance before standing up to leave.
Julia Land frowned as she straightened her hair, continuing to dine alone since the meals had already been ordered and it would be wasteful not to eat.
"Sister."
Stella Langston approached Julia Land.
Julia Land looked up, taking a napkin to wipe her red lips upon hearing Stella call her sister.
Julia Land could only feel goosebumps come up.
"Sister, mom told me a secret, about your secret."
