Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Being Kept as a Mistress

James Thompson finished discussing Chloe Sullivan’s matter, and Julia Land took out her phone to check the time, noting it was already very late.

She stuffed her hands into her jacket pockets. "Good night, I have to work tomorrow."

She strode away briskly.

Mr. Thompson was left sitting alone on the chair, "..."

Wasn’t he supposed to be invited upstairs tonight?

To sleep in the same bed,

To embrace and kiss and moan?

James Thompson’s eyes followed the swiftly departing seductive figure, pondering Julia’s attitude.

She was jealous.

*

The morning was pleasant.

This morning, Julia planned to ride her red electric scooter to work.

On her way out, she knocked on Sophia Hart’s door.

With her hair looking like a bird’s nest, Sophia answered, "Capricorn, today your financial luck is booming, good prospects at work, and there’s a chance for a promotion and salary increase."

"Okay, remember to eat something at ten o’clock. I’m off to work."

Sophia nodded, then shut the door to go back to bed.

Julia changed her shoes and left single-handedly holding her helmet.

The red electric scooter swiftly weaved through traffic, raising no dust.

At this time, Noah Quarter was abroad, where it was nighttime.

He paused as he looked at the photo on his phone of Julia riding her scooter amidst the traffic.

He continued scrolling through the photos, the second one showing Julia sitting with James Thompson in the park.

His gaze turned cold.

His wise grandmother had told him on her deathbed not to regret the choices he made.

In the Quarter Family, the one who understood Noah the most was always the wise Mrs. Quarter.

Noah deleted the photo of Julia with James Thompson.

He only kept the photos of Julia alone.

Only weak men would have regrets.

The inherent coldness and predatory nature within Noah Quarter would not change.

When Mrs. Quarter was around, he restrained himself.

Julia took some files into the office, dropped them off, and was about to leave when Thomas Sullivan stopped her.

He was leaning back in his chair, watching Julia.

His father had called him in the middle of the previous night to discuss the dinner James Thompson had treated them to.

The troublesome part concerned Chloe Sullivan’s ideas.

"Secretary Land, call the chief of finance."

Julia nodded.

At lunchtime, the receptionist called Julia, informing her that someone named Stella Langston was looking for her downstairs.

Since Julia had decided to sue Grace Land, she anticipated that the Langston Family would come to make trouble.

"Do not see her. Please have security escort her out, thank you."

The receptionist acknowledged, hung up, and called security.

It was busy in the lobby around lunchtime.

Stella Langston was escorted out by security, still somewhat in disbelief.

"Don’t you dare lay a hand on me, I’ll report you for harassment."

The young girl’s eyes were reddened and her neck strained; her pretty appearance made it hard for onlookers to remain indifferent.

But the security guards, paid by Strong Health, had to be firm despite their reluctance. "Miss, please don’t create a disturbance here; this is Strong Health."

Tears welled in Stella’s eyes, "I’m not here to cause trouble, I’m here to find my sister."

The receptionist, with a gentle demeanor, tried to pacify her, "Miss, Secretary Land said she does not want to see you."

So this was Secretary Land’s sister.

Employees passing through the lobby watched Stella, curiosity piqued.

Stella looked anxious, "I really have urgent matters to discuss with her. I came to apologize on behalf of our mother. Miss, could you please call my sister again?"

Family disputes brought to the workplace certainly didn’t look good.

Julia received another call from the receptionist; she knew Stella’s purpose was just to embarrass her.

"Troublesome, I won’t meet her."

The receptionist hung up and reluctantly conveyed Julia’s decision to Stella.

Stella covered her face and cried, "How could she do this, that’s her own mother. How could she sue her mother over a photo?"

This family drama now even involved a daughter suing her mother.

What was in the photo that made Secretary Land so ruthless?

Chloe Sullivan had been inside for a while and overheard the gist.

She took out a pack of tissues from her bag, pulled one out and approached, "Stop crying, wipe your tears, I’ll take you to Secretary Land."

The receptionist and security recognized Chloe Sullivan as a daughter of the wealthy Sullivan Family, and the Chairman’s cousin.

Since she intended to take Stella to see Secretary Land, they naturally would not stop her.

Stella saw the receptionist respectfully address this woman as Miss Sullivan, and her mind spun, "Thank you, Miss Sullivan."

"You’re welcome, wipe your tears and follow me."

Chloe’s smile made her seem approachable because of her lively eyes.

Stella nodded and followed Chloe toward the elevator.

Those loitering in the lobby to catch up on the gossip could only disperse regretfully.

Inside the elevator, besides Chloe and Stella, there were three other Strong Health employees.

Chloe curiously whispered, "If it’s alright to ask, what is the photo? Secretary Land actually sued her own mother."

Stella hesitated for a moment.

"If it’s inconvenient to tell me, that’s okay," Chloe reassured, "Secretary Land is actually very kind; have a good talk when you meet her."

"It’s not that I can’t tell you, it’s just a picture of her at ten, taken by the old dean, and none of us expected... the old dean was such a beast."

Stella suddenly stopped talking.

She had said enough, leaving the rest to everyone else’s imagination.

A photo at the age of ten and a beast.

It led people to imagine some perverted predilections.

Such as pedophilia.

The three employees who heard this gossip were shocked.

I never imagined Secretary Land’s childhood was so tragic.

Chloe Sullivan’s lips parted slightly in shock, her expression somber, "Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked."

Stella Langston seemed to sense their misunderstanding and quickly explained, "Nothing happened to my sister."

The elevator dinged, and the few employees exited first.

Chloe Sullivan and Stella Langston were going up to the 18th floor.

The finance director came out of the CEO’s office, and Julia Land handed him a document that had been signed.

She walked him to the elevator and pressed the button for him.

The finance director smiled, "Thank you, Secretary Land."

Julia Land was very capable in receiving people.

She always maintained a humble heart.

That was the attitude needed in the workplace.

As the elevator doors opened, Julia Land saw Chloe Sullivan and Stella Langston.

She remained composed, first seeing the finance director into the elevator, and waited for the doors to close before she looked at Stella Langston.

Chloe Sullivan spoke up, "Sorry, Secretary Land, Miss Langston was crying in the lobby, and everyone was looking, so I brought her up for you to talk."

Julia Land smiled, "That must have been troublesome for Miss Sullivan."

Chloe Sullivan smiled thinly, "Secretary Land, this is the company, try not to let family matters spill over here. I won’t disturb you anymore, I’m going to find my cousin."

Julia Land laughed silently.

Waiting for Chloe Sullivan to enter the office.

Julia Land’s gaze landed lightly on Stella Langston, "Since your purpose has been achieved, you can leave too."

Stella Langston was taken aback, "Sister, what are you talking about, I came here to apologize for mom, she was just pretending to threaten you with the pictures, she wouldn’t really publish them."

Julia Land raised an eyebrow, "Are you stupid? You’d only believe that yourself."

Stella Langston, being called stupid, "..."

Thomas Sullivan and Chloe Sullivan walked out of the office, Thomas Sullivan glanced at Stella Langston, then turned to Julia Land and said, "I’m going to eat lunch outside."

Julia Land nodded.

Chloe Sullivan smiled at Julia Land, she and Thomas Sullivan entered the elevator.

Stella Langston, realizing her goal was achieved for today, didn’t want to stay any longer to be insulted by Julia Land.

She followed Chloe Sullivan and Thomas into the elevator, quietly watching Thomas Sullivan.

Julia Land went to the cafeteria alone for lunch.

During that brief dining time,

Her childhood possibly being molested by an old man quietly spread among the employees of Strong Health.

Julia Land was Thomas Sullivan’s female secretary, and also quite a beauty with a high reputation.

"I really had no idea Secretary Land had such a pitiful childhood."

"That old dean is really a pervert."

"I heard Secretary Land sued her own mother."

"Why?"

"Not sure what happened."

Julia Land could still hear the gossip about her in the restroom.

Their pitying looks couldn’t stir her.

She didn’t need their pity.

As long as her heart was strong, those things that had passed were all in the past.

A news story titled "Director Quarter’s Ex-wife Was Molested by an Old Man as a Child" soon appeared online.

Who knows who was so shameless as to use such news to generate clicks.

Everyone couldn’t help but click on it to read.

The news relating to Noah Quarter and Julia Land, someone sent it to Arabella Shaw.

Arabella Shaw couldn’t help but laugh upon seeing the news, tears rolling down, "Sister Wilson, buy a trend for this news, let it climb to the top of the hot search quickly."

Sister Wilson looked at the news on her phone, surprised, "Ah, was Julia Land’s childhood so tragic?"

Arabella sighed, "Such is fate."

When Mr. Thompson saw this news, I wonder what he thought, with all his wealth and power, he would probably disdain Julia Land.

And if Noah saw it too, who knows what he would think.

#Director Quarter’s Ex-wife Was Molested by an Old Man in Her Childhood#

The hot search quickly became number one.

People in high circles seeing this news felt that Noah Quarter was really unlucky.

They viewed Julia Land with a bit more disdain.

Leah Thompson was once again ridiculed by the ladies, truly furious to the point of bursting.

Julia Land no longer had any ties with the Quarter Family!

She furiously stormed into Strong Health Technology to confront Julia Land.

"Tell Julia Land to get down here."

Leah Thompson was clad in designer brands from head to toe, a symbol of a wealthy lady, the receptionist, hearing her tone wasn’t good, but didn’t dare take it further.

Though, mentally she blamed Julia Land somewhat.

The receptionist asked, "May I ask who you are?"

Leah Thompson kept a cold face, "Her ex-mother-in-law."

Julia Land naturally knew about the trending topic.

She continued to work methodically as always, her colleagues never seeing her show an uncomfortable expression.

Leah Thompson’s visit was merely because she had caused the Quarter Family to lose face again.

Julia Land was calm, "Not available."

This was Strong Health, not the Thompson Family, and without anyone to take Leah Thompson up, she couldn’t come up.

In the end, Leah Thompson left Strong Health holding back a stomach full of anger.

She couldn’t throw a big scene to see Julia Land.

Julia Land chuckled and pulled out her phone to send a message to Sophia Hart, [Honey, today Capricorn’s financial luck is so-so, bad luck at work, a bit unlucky]

*

James Thompson stepped out of the hospital, Jasper Winters opened the car door for him, his phone rang before he could get in.

The incoming call was from Capital City.

He answered the call.

"James Thompson, I won’t allow you to marry such a woman into our family, if you really like her, let her be your mistress and keep her outside."

The voice on the other end was Cody Thompson.

He was James Thompson’s father, currently the head of Thompson Group.
