Chapter 434: The Abyssal Son has a Plan
[Blessing of Rotten Ascension - Minor Blessing]
[The required Death Essence for the future breakthrough of the Undead Avatar will be reduced by 50 percent]
’So, this is the Blessing that General Tiger and Great General Eduart were talking about.’
Looking at the blessing effects, Ethan’s eyes lit up.
It might be a Minor Blessing; however, for Ethan’s Undead Avatar, it was more than enough.
[To break through to the Level 2 Nether Soul Realm, it requires 900 Soul Cores]
At the same time, the system notification appeared, making Ethan excited.
Originally, he needed 2000 Soul Cores; however, after one month of serious cultivation, the requirement had decreased to 1800 Soul Cores.
And now, thanks to the Corpse Emperor’s Blessing, it was directly reduced by half, requiring only 900 Soul Cores.
’Now, I can finally start increasing the strength of my Undead Avatar.’
[Soul Descent]
With a thought, Ethan’s soul entered his Undead Avatar, where he started using the Soul Cores to rapidly increase his strength.
Although Ethan had no plans to use his Undead Avatar to fight the other undead beings... at least for now, he wanted it to be as strong as possible.
Thus, Ethan didn’t bother to keep the Soul Cores and used them all in a single go.
[900 Soul Cores consumed. The Undead Avatar’s cultivation rose to Level 2 Nether Soul Realm]
[1500 Soul Cores consumed... Level 3 Nether Soul Realm reached]
...
[3000 Soul Cores consumed... Level 6 Nether Soul Realm reached]
After the back-to-back breakthroughs, Ethan was left with 100 Soul Cores from the 10,000 Soul Cores he received from the Great General Eduart.
’Rumble’
Just when Ethan was planning to cancel his [Soul Descent], the Special Death Chamber’s door opened as the Great General Eduart entered.
"The Corpse Emperor has already cast... you... you have..."
The purpose of his visit was to inform the Dark Overlord that the Corpse Emperor had cast the blessing, and he could start using the Soul Cores to quickly increase his cultivation.
However, the moment he sensed Dark Overlord’s cultivation, Eduart was shocked for a moment before becoming excited.
"Sir Eduart, I have used the Soul Cores after receiving the blessing," Ethan informed him with a smile.
"Good... very good. You truly are the hope of the Skeletal Race."
Eduart’s voice trembled slightly, not out of fear, but pride. The pride of a father watching his son rise beyond expectations.
"Son, with you here, I no longer worry about the Skeletal Race’s future."
"Huh?"
Though the words sounded cheerful, Ethan could sense something else beneath them. A faint trace of sorrow and resignation at the current fate of the Skeletal Race under the Corpse Emperor.
Eduart had always treated the Undead Avatar as the Skeletal Race’s Abyssal Son, its prophesied saviour.
Although it had only been a month since they met, Eduart had poured all his savings into nurturing him, given all he had without hesitation.
But this was the first time he had called him ’son’ out loud.
And for some reason, Ethan felt like they were Eduart’s final words.
As if he wouldn’t get the chance to say it again.
"The Green Corpse Emperor has already given the command. The three Ghoul Warlords will lead the invasion into the Life Region. The Ancient Heartwood Tree is their target—and the human protecting it."
Eduart took a deep breath, and even before Ethan could say anything, he continued without waiting for questions.
"You deserve to know everything. Especially now that you carry the hope of our race on your shoulders."
"The Ghoul Warlords have ordered me to lead all the Undead Generals from the Skeletal Race into the Life Region. Our mission is to attack the Ancient Heartwood Tree and the Ancient Treant Guardian."
His voice was heavy now, but he didn’t stop speaking, "We’re cannon fodder like always. Our job is not to win but to make the Tree show its trump cards. To force it to burn through its power before the real battle begins."
Eduart’s tone turned grim as he continued, "With its current strength, the Ancient Heartwood Tree isn’t a match for the full might of the Green Corpse Emperor’s army."
"But... the Skeletal Race will receive all its powerful attacks early... and in the process, the losses of our Skeletal Race will be quite high that I might..."
He didn’t finish. He didn’t need to, but Ethan understood.
Among all the Undead Races under the Green Corpse Emperor, the Skeletal Race has huge numbers, and every time he replenishes the armies, it is the Skeletal Race that gets the highest number.
The reason was simple... the Skeletal Beings are the easiest to create for the Green Corpse Emperor using the Undead God’s influence.
Therefore, the Green Corpse Emperor himself uses these Skeletal Beings as cannon fodder, and the Ghoul Warlords, who were personally nurtured by the Corpse Emperor himself, follow the same methods.
"Sir Eduart, are you telling me that you have to lead the entire Skeletal Race, except for the new batch that arrived today, into the Life Region?"
"All 10,000 Undead Skeletal Generals under my command. As for the 100,000 Undead Commanders and their armies, they can stay back in the [City of Bones]."
"By when must Sir Eduart lead them into the Life Region?"
"Within two days."
...
Suddenly, Ethan got an idea after hearing everything from the Great General Eduart and started asking a few questions.
"Dark Overlord, there is nothing we can do about it."
Although he was not as intelligent as the Spectral Generals, through his centuries of experience, Eduart could tell that the Abyssal Son was planning something.
If it were before the arrival of the Green Corpse Emperor, he might have been interested in listening to him.
However, now, with the Green Corpse Emperor’s arrival and closely watching them, there is no way their tricks could work in front of him.
With that thought in mind, Eduart turned to leave.
"Sir Eduart, there is actually something we can do."
But, how could Ethan back down now when a perfect plan appeared in his head that could slow not only the Skeletal Race’s problem but also his own?
"What?"
Eduart, who was about to turn and leave the Special Death Chamber, paused in his actions, and the moment he looked back into the hollow eye sockets of the Dark Overlord, he froze.
There was a flicker—no, a blaze of eerie, unwavering confidence.
It wasn’t the usual calm determination that most Undead held when they accepted their fate.
This... was different.
"...You’re planning something," Eduart muttered, his bony brow creasing.
Despite his earlier words, despite knowing that the Green Corpse Emperor had his rotting eye on every move, Eduart found himself intrigued.
Even without flesh or heartbeat, he could feel the pull of that certainty.
Against all logic, he wanted to believe it because the being in front of him was the Abyssal Son.
There were many legends saying that the Abyssal Sons could make the impossible possible, and the one in front of him was an Extraordinary Abyssal Son.
Therefore, he wanted to hear what the Abyssal Son was planning.
"What is it? Speak freely. You have my trust."
Ethan, or rather the Dark Overlord, remained silent for a moment.
Then, he chuckled lightly. "I do have a plan," he said. "But... you might call it crazy or completely reckless. I doubt Sir Eduart would agree to it."
"Try me."
Eduart’s skeletal jaw shifted slightly.
As soon as he got the confirmation, Ethan started explaining his plan, which thoroughly shocked the Great General Eduart.
