Chapter 227: Clash Of Flames (2)
Tyr stopped exhaling his flame, looking forward with focused and serious eyes.
The crowd also intently gazed at Crimson, wanting to know if he was obliterated by the fire or not.
As Tyr’s dragon fire dispersed into the air, a pair of large phoenix wings could be seen curled around Crimson’s body.
Immediately, a gasp of shock and confusion fell on the crowd.
Even Tyr furrowed his brows slightly, ’He blocked himself? But still... his wings shouldn’t have been able to negate my fire.’
Crimson’s phoenix wings expanded out to the sides, revealing his body. It was heavily charred and cracked.
His entire body was smoking like smoldering coals. All of his hair had fallen out, and his eyes were burnt and unusable.
However, it was all healed in an instant once again as he was reborn for what felt like the 100th time.
Tyr sucked his teeth in annoyance, "Tsk."
He clenched his fists as he thought to himself, ’I knew there was a possibility of this. Sure, my fire is the strongest possible, but that doesn’t mean it negates his healing. He didn’t heal faster than how much damage I was doing, but he certainly healed fast enough to survive the onslaught. And now, due to his Ancestral Ability, he can be reborn even stronger and be unscathed. This is bad... he will just keep getting stronger. I wanted to end this, but even my dragon flame doesn’t seem to be cutting it.’
Whilst lost in thought, Tyr didn’t see Crimson disappear from midair.
He felt a brunt force slam against his back, thrusting him forward. He flew until slamming into the arena walls.
Gasps rippled across the stands. At first, this type of scene was expected by the crowd. But after Tyr’s domination, it felt like the roles had reversed.
And yet, Tyr was still getting played with as if he had never come close to winning in the first place.
Tyr was still slightly lost in thought, ’Dragon fire...’ He mused as he felt Crimson grab the back of his neck before flying up and throwing him into the ground below.
Tyr landed with a massive explosion of dust.
BOOM
’Damn it...’ Tyr mused, ’Reverse works for his fire... but I can’t use it for his physical strength, which infinitely increases as time goes on and he keeps rebirthing.’
He lay flat on his stomach, panting as he faced the sky above where Crimson blocked the sun.
His eyes were wide, his gaze stunned.
In dire situations, Tyr tended to go back to what he knew. His mind raced to see every possibility that he had, and if it could help him in any way.
His new Wind Surge Fist martial art was useless since he was too weak to use it, of course. Even the things that he learned in the Mauyin Temple were of no use in the face of sheer overwhelming power.
Tyr felt slightly hopeless. A bit of frustration crept into his mind as he poked at the fact that he seemed to always be the one having to come up with ways to win, instead of the one winning through sheer brute force.
Transfer, Soul Marking, Hypnosis, and Disappear weren’t going to help him win either. Out of everything that he had tried, there was no spell that he had which was going to work...
’No spell...’ Tyr thought, ’No skill, no ability... no techni--’ He paused at that moment. ’Technique... sure, the Wind Surge Fist has not helped me, but I have another technique in my disposal as well.’
Tyr slowly stood up, ’During these weeks of cultivating, I have tried many things with this Chaos Veil Sutra Cultivation Technique.’ He reached into his storage ring and took out the technique scroll.
Crimson began his descent toward Tyr, most likely for another attack.
’After trying a countless number of things, I know the power behind this object. It is overwhelming when I try to cultivate it, but, it is also overwhelming when you try to...’
Crimson neared, reaching his fist back before hurling it at Tyr.
’Attack it!’ Tyr finally said in his mind, putting the scroll right in front of his body and opening it up.
’Huh? That isn’t an Aura Array. It is just a cultivation technique. Even if it is a little trick, he’s put it right up against his face. I can destroy his skull with a single punch.’ Crimson thought, ripping his arm at Tyr’s head with hurtling force.
Crimson felt indestructible at that moment, as though nothing could hurt him. This was because in this fight with Tyr, nothing could...
As soon as his fist made contact with the sutra, however, he felt as though he had hit an iron wall.
A ripple of purple energy traveled in all directions out of the scroll, and a piercing bell noise echoed across the stadium.
*BLAST*
An explosion of electrifying Aura jolted out of the scroll and assaulted Crimson, sending him flying backwards.
However, he landed safely, shaking the damage off.
Despite landing this attack, Tyr had still felt much of the force from Crimson’s punch. His head had been knocked back, and for a moment he nearly went unconscious. However, he slammed his foot down with force, making sure he wouldn’t pass out.
’Damn it! If I pass out now, it’s all over.’ Tyr thought to himself.
Crimson growled with frustration, "DRAGON TAMER!" He roared, "FIGHT ME!"
Tyr instantly understood what Crimson meant by this: ’He doesn’t think I’m going all out... but... I am. In a match like this, am I not going all out!? What does he see that I don’t!?’
Crimson appeared behind him, but before Tyr could turn his scroll to block most of the attack, he was kicked in the back of the knee.
The force made him flip in the air. He was grabbed by Crimson before landing and pinned into the ground.
His scroll dropped to the floor, as his eyes locked onto Crimson’s.
Crimson looked furious, clenching his fist before unleashing square at Tyr’s face.
Tyr was unable to move, no matter how hard he tried. The fist moved toward him at an unimaginable speed. He could see it touch the top of his nose...
’Blink Step.’
Tyr instantly blitzed to the side, but still caught a gash across the left side of his face.
*BOOM*
He was punched in the shoulder out of nowhere, fracturing his left arm bone.
Crimson threw a kick at his chest. Tyr managed to block it with his right hand, but his palm was crushed in the process, and he was still thrown back several feet.
At that moment, his left Golden Palm disappeared, leaving him with only one by his side.
He stumbled back as Crimson slowly approached.
The crowd didn’t know how to react. Some were silent, others roaring with excitement.
Suyo was mute, feeling his heart in his throat.
Race stood next to him, clenching his fists tightly, "Don’t you dare fucking lose..." He muttered under his breath angrily.
Suyo faced him with thoughtless eyes.
Race gritted his teeth as he spoke, "You did not defeat me just to lose... you fucker. This is not how you beat me... you were a monster then... why are you hiding that power? Why... why!?"
Race’s arms shook from clenching his hands so hard. With everyone around him screaming, he also roared into the crowd, "STOP LETTING HIM WIN! FIGHT HIM LIKE YOU FOUGHT ME, YOU FUCKING BASTARD!!!"
Many heads darted toward Race, the former section C king, as he said this.
He wasn’t just a nobody, so many took his words seriously.
Tyr heard that familiar voice speak to him as well, and as he did, he grunted with irritation, ’What the hell are you talking about!? I am... this is me going all out!’
Huevas lowered his eyelids and narrowed his eyes, "This battle will not go much longer." He said with a somber look in his eyes.
Arin looked down at his hands, which were squirming nonstop, as if he was ready to move at any moment.
"You are right... we are almost at the finish line." She said, turning and looking closely at Tyr.
Tyr on the other hand stared at Crimson.
Crimson grinned, "Life and death..." He suddenly said.
Tyr’s eyes narrowed, his brows furrowing.
Crimson continued: "I can kill you here, do you know that?"
Tyr’s eyebrows loosened at that moment. So did his neck, loosening so much that the contained air in his lungs nearly all flowed out at once.
’K-kill... me? I can die... that’s right. This is a real fight.’ He looked around in the crowd, ’This isn’t a duel. Not a tournament or challenge of any sort. All of these people are here just for show. Him and me... we are really fighting.’
Crimson continued, "As if out in the wild. We are using everything at our disposal to live on. Life is the motivator for all, because life means victory. Using everything to our advantage. Cheats, scams, technique, and ruthless, primal aggression. In that situation, I am a monster, and you are nothing but frail prey."
"A real fight..." Tyr said, feeling as though he had not thought of this battle like that. "In a real fight..." He was mostly talking to himself, "I would fight far different than this."
Crimson chuckled, "At this point, I am not sure I believe you anymore. But go on and show me then. Show me how you would fight."
Tyr finally seemed to understand now what Race and Crimson were trying to get at.
Tyr flapped his wings, soaring into the air, ’Come out, Ares.’
’Finally...’
’I don’t care if I destroy this place...’ Tyr’s eyes were crazed, his hands and feet trembling, ’Or slaughter everyone here... I will survive. I will win.’
