Chapter 213: Ancient Arts
*One month later*
Million Seal Peak, within the Pyramid Library Of Ancient Arts.
A group of 500 Hunter’s gathered around the balcony looking over a massive pile of books below.
The balcony railings were against tall library walls that stretched up for as high as the eyes could see. They were lined with countless books of differing sizes and colors.
Fifty feet below them was piled a pyramid of books, with ancient symbols floating around it.
Captain Clover of the Million Seal Branch stood at the center of the crowd, his arms crossed. He had a hopeful look on his face as he oversaw what was going on.
Below, on the bottom floor, Noa floated in mid air. She was in a meditative stance, her hands clasped together to form a ’namaste’-esque greeting.
A pink Aura radiated from her, circling all around her with a calm yet powerful force.
The library vibrated with tremors as eyes began to widen with shock.
"Is she actually going to do it?"
"Those books... they were the books that this the Pyramid Library was built around. All of these books, these arts, are the greatest within the Ten High Peak Faction. All of them were created in hopes of one day unlocking those books in the center."
Captain Clover overheard this, and added: "Correct."
Hunter’s turned their attention to him as he spoke without batting an eye away from Noa.
"These books are from another planet entirely, from our estimations. We found them in a dungeon that randomly appeared... it was a fearsome dungeon, but one that was regarded as legendary by all powers around the world."
He went on to explain the backstory of how these books were obtained.
It was the time when the Ten High Peak Faction was only beginning to bud in its initial stages.
The founder gathered together his strongest teammates, and forged a Hunter group to retrieve these books--whose worth couldn’t be explained through normal means, as they soon came to figure.
After a treacherous adventure, and battling with some of the largest Factions and kingdoms across Subworld, these unknown Hunter’s from a brand new Faction entered the deepest part of the dungeon and obtained the books.
However, once inside, they knew that they had to forge a plan before leaving with the books.
The entrance was blocked off thanks to them entering first, but that also meant that when leaving, others could simply wait outside and steal the books from out of thier hands.
So, they plotted for months, staying within the heart of the dungeon with dwindling rations.
Eventually, they forged a plan. The scholars within the group of 50 Hunter’s would stay back and learn more about these books, while the Faction Captain (as they called it back then) and the stronger members would exit.
This way, the 15 scholars who stayed back could safely study these books and receive food and other supplies from those outside.
They activated their plan, and it went flawlessly!
For weeks, the scholars studied these books and were blown away by the information within them.
They held the secrets of how to truly control Aura, and manifest even greater Ancestral Abilities from the ones they already had. They held suprese arts, which allowed Aura users to create and destroy the elements of nature with free will.
The Ten High Peak Faction had done something that no one else on Subworld could have dreamed of doing! They were going to be pioneers of the modern era!
However... things did not continue flawlessly.
Eventually, the powers of the world had had enough. Instead of trying to obtain the books, they went berserk.
"If we can’t have them... no one can!"
They destroyed through the mysterious dungeon, rampaging into the core.
The scholars were caught off guard, and slaughtered one by one.
In the end, all of the books looked to be aligned in the chaos.
Hearing about this, the Ten High Peak Faction leader and his group urgently returned to the dungeon remains.
They were disheartened, but more so filled with fury on seeing how thier comrades had died.
Seeing his other faction members crumble to thier knees, the faction leader tightly shut his eyes, "I regret it... I should have valued thier lives over some books! Due to that greed, it is all now gone."
As he said this, a voice screamed from afar, "Hey! I think there’s something else here!" A man said, standing before a crack in the ground that was glowing a rich purple hue.
In moments, everyone gathered around this crack, and tore it open using thier respective abilities.
Inside, what they saw shocked them. Under the ground were buried all of the books--encased within an immense seal that all 15 scholars had created.
"They weren’t slaughtered..." The faction leader exclaimed, "They gave thier lives... to protect these books."
He noticed 15 strips of symbols circling around the books, "Each one is their life force given up so that future generations of our faction can obtain these books. They gave up thier lives for the future of the Ten High Peak Faction!"
It was an emotional event, where many tears were shed and countless vows were made.
The books were taken to the Ten High Peak Faction within the seal, and hidden within the faction’s most important library.
For ages, no one was able to unlock these books. Despite that, at this current moment in time, Noa looked to be close to accomplishing that very task.
Her face was serious, everyone else looking forward with awe glisnteing in their pupils.
Even Captain Clover couldn’t believe what he was witnessing, ’She is the epitome of excellence... I can’t beleve she was living in a small village not long ago. I thank Tyr Evolion for saving her... she will be a gift not only to this faction, but to this world!’
Out of the 15 seals placed around the books, only one was left.
As anticipation brewed and reached its climax, everyone began to scream with excitement:
"I want to know what those books hold!"
"What arts will we all learn!?"
"Will the world be flipped on its head?"
"The faction will become a global power even more so than before!"
"I get first dibs!"
Everyone’s eyes gleamed with greed, intruqie, exhilaration and anticipation.
As the final seal began to disappear, Noa abruptly opened her eyes.
At that moment, all of the 15 seals instantly returned, and Noa fell to the floor--unconscious.
"W-what?"
"How!"
"She couldn’t do it!?"
Every Hunter began to freak out, but quickly came to terms with it.
"Well, I guess it was a bit of a stretch. After all, she is just a new member of the faction."
"Yeah... she couldn’t possibly solve a puzzle like these which the faction has been struggling with for so long."
However, Captain Clover seemed to have a different opion. He stared at Noa’s face with narrowed eyes: ’Why... you could have easily unsealed them. Why did you purposefully choose not to? Why Noa?’ He didn’t know what to feel.
Confusion, bewilderment, betrayal, and even slight anger, ’I hope you have a good reason, Noa... a good reason as to why you are acting as though you are unconscious right now.’
He turned, leaving the area.
Noa opened her eyes, slowly standing up. She had an unreadble expression on her face as she looked at the seal:
’Even though Judgement is separated for now, I vowed to be a apart of this team. I have not forgotten about them... and about Tyr.’ That was all she thought to herself as she turned and walked away...
