Chapter 212: The King

Chapter 212: The King

After thirty seconds, Tyr was deserted in an empty canteen.

Glanced at the foodline. The cooks looked to still be in a very distressed state of being.

He sighed, looking back at Race. Grabbing a glass of orange juice that was on a table, he knelt down beside Race and splashed the cold liquid in his face.

Race awoke with a startled gasp, panting for air.

He immediately saw Tyr’s face above him. Race felt the tiny hairs on his arms erect straight upwards.

’He’s... fucking scary.’ Race thought to himself, furrowing his brows, "Let me go." He said in a low tone.

Tyr exhaled, "Let you go? Why should I do that? Don’t you think I should beat you up some more for what you did in my room?"

Race paused, looking down. He felt the stinging pain radiate from his broken nose at that moment.

Next came the horrible throbbing waves of pain from his fractured skull.

He placed his hand on his head before responding:

"I can be as mad as I want... but you beat me." Race said in a defeated tone, "I was willing to give an arm to kill you..." He paused, thinking to himself:

’I used my usual mental warfare on him... I even had a group lined up so that I could gang up on him. To be honest, I was scared to fight him deep inside. I did all that just so I could be known as the person who beat the Dragon Tamer... but I was blinded by that desire and didn’t see what I was facing truly.’

Race looked deep into Tyr’s eyes. His pupils looked like they never ended, like voids that Race couldn’t read whatsoever, ’He’s a monster... I never had a chance.’

He continued speaking: "In the end... I lost. Now that you beat me, you are the new king of section C."

"I could care less about that." Tyr said in a low tone, his expression stoic.

"I know... but that is what you have chosen by fighting me. People will know you now. The other section kings will want a piece of you... although, I know they already do. And the Hunters of this section will bow down to you as if their life was in your hands."

Tyr’s left eye twitched as he heard this, ’Bow down?’ He thought to himself, ’Hmm... although I don’t care for these scum... the thought of them bowing down to me doesn’t seem half bad. In fact, I like it.’ His eyes widened slightly while in thought.

Race continued, looking at the ground and away from Tyr’s face: "I’ll clean your room. I’ll also do what you want me to... you are the king." The young Hunter looked devastated by those words that came out of his mouth.

’I...’ Race began to think to himself: ’I became the section king on my first week here in the Immortal Peak. I have never known the feeling of true loss, since I was too much of a coward to have a real fight with the other section kings that wasn’t just a small duel. I didn’t want to lose respect from my own section... and most of all, I didn’t want to lose a fight.’

He had not lost in so long that he had almost forgotten that he could actually lose one day, and lose all of that status which he had held on for dear life for so long.

When Race looked back up at Tyr, he jumped slightly on seeing a smirk tugging on the dragon tamer’s lips.

’He’ll do what I want?’ Tyr thought to himself, ’I am the king? That’s right... this is exactly what I want. This is a small smidgen of what it will feel like when I rule the world. The power... it is rectifying.’ Tyr thought to himself, feeling his veins bulge with energy at that moment.

It was like a natural reaction. Tyr felt a massive release of endorphins in his mind with this level of respect.

"If that’s the case... then I’ll let you do your job. From now on, you are my housekeeper." Tyr said with a large smile on his face.

Race looked up at him with a face of disbelief, ’I meant I would clean the mess I made... not actually clean it in general.’ He said to himself.

"If there is even a spot in my room that is dirty from this day forward, I’ll beat you up even harder than I did today. Is that clear?"

Race paused, still processing what he was hearing. However, on seeing Tyr’s demanding eyes, his mouth opened: "Y-yes! Yes... I’ll do it."

Tyr stood up after hearing that, "Good..." He looked forward blankly, "Good! Haha!" He broke out into a small chuckle, getting used to this power that he now had.

Race sat up, taking a healing pill out of his storage ring and consuming it before limping out of the canteen.

When he exited, a dozen or so Hunters were waiting outside for him.

They all had curious, slightly scared gazes.

"W-what happened in there?"

"Are you okay?"

"Rac--"

Race cut all of the noise instantly, "Shut it!" He shouted, a ringing noise playing in his head, "Go clean Tyr’s room. He demands it... and he is the new king. I’m going to visit the infirmary..."

The group of Hunters were left absolutely bewildered.

"Seriously?"

"Well... we better get used to this."

"Yeah. That bloodlust was not human. I’ve never seen anything like it."

"He’s like a damn Branch Captain."

"I get chills just from thinking about it."

The group left, their mission clear on their minds: "Clean the king’s room."

Tyr had heard all of this from inside due to his enhanced hearing, and also the thin door.

’Huh...’ He mused, turning and walking toward the window-paned wall at the back of the canteen.

He stared out into the grand city that lay mantled before him.

’Looks like life here will be a bit easier... but I am nowhere near satisfied with my power yet. I did okay in that fight due to my abilities, but without him, I would have gotten crushed by myself with that orange-haired guy. There are still people here who can decimate me without a second thought... like Huevas. I can’t afford to grow at such a slow pace for much longer. I need to reveal those memories of mine, and find out what the hell has been happening.’

He took in a deep breath, the mesmer of the city helping to collect his thoughts: ’I’ll meet Hanzo and the others again in a couple months. From the time it took me to arrive here, they have already been gaining power for several days. I wonder how much they will change the next time I meet them... In that tournament, I want to come out on top. It will be a badge to symbolize my growth in power, but that badge will also be a goal that I can set in order to train as hard as I possibly can.’

Tyr began to feel his heart pound faster as he imagined himself growing in power, ’Martial arts... alchemy... cultivation. I will master these arts. I’ve been in Subworld for a while... I remember what it was like back on Earth. Living like a pig, with a shit job and countless people stomping on my head to get ahead.’

His brows furrowed with aggression, ’I won’t live a life like that again. I will be the one to step on others, as if they are stones. In this life, I will live as a conqueror, with no shackles. If I can’t achieve that, then there is no point in living for me.’
