Chapter 384: Chapter 408: The Thief Cries "Catch the Thief

"The villagers are ignorant and fierce, as could be seen since last night when they watched with glee as the car fell into the ditch.

For this reason, Fang Yi had used all his tricks to explain the functions and effects of Grey Bone Grass to them, and he also disclosed the market price of Grey Bone Grass. Eventually, some showed signs of being interested.

Just when Fang Yi thought he was about to succeed, suddenly a scoundrel with a bare chest walked into the courtyard and said loudly, "What’s with all the trouble, just have Xu He give us more money, right? She’s rich from being a celebrity, wouldn’t it be embarrassing not to give more?"

Fang Yi was already parched and rather irritable, and he immediately became angry upon hearing this.

It wasn’t just Fang Yi who was angry, even Xu He’s parents were furious. But when they looked at the other villagers, it seemed that they found the scoundrel’s words reasonable.

Fang Yi pointed at the scoundrel and said, "You! Come here!"

This scoundrel was skinny and brimming with unfounded confidence, knowing with so many people around, Fang Yi wouldn’t dare hit him. He walked over and said, "What, you wanna fight? So many people are watching."

Fang Yi shook his head and said, "I’m not going to hit you; I just want to ask you, who earns Xu He’s money?"

The scoundrel replied without thinking, "Xu He’s money is of course earned by Xu He."

Fang Yi smirked coldly and said, "Since it’s her money she earned, why should it be given to you?"

This question stumped the scoundrel.

At this moment, a middle-aged woman chimed in, "Just because Xu He came from here, we’re her fellow villagers. It’s only right for her to give us money."

Fang Yi laughed, having now witnessed what’s called shamelessness, what’s called having no face.

"What a ’rightful claim,’" Fang Yi sneered. "Then I ask you, who provided for Xu He’s food and clothes, who paid for her schooling, is she even related to you by blood? Just because she calls you uncle or auntie, you think you have a ’rightful claim’? You’re really shameless! If that’s the case, fine, let’s have you all give me a share of your money; would you agree to that?"

"Our earned money, why should we give it to you!"

"Then why should the money Xu He earned be given to you?" Fang Yi retorted.

They were rendered speechless.

There was utter silence in the courtyard, with only the summer cicadas buzzing in the trees.

Fang Yi gave a cold glance at the villagers and said, "I don’t force anyone. Whoever is willing to plant Grey Bone Grass, I guarantee they can make a fortune. For those who are unwilling, I won’t insist. If you don’t want to plant it, just get lost!"

Fang Yi couldn’t be bothered to curry favor with these unreasonable villagers. But after his harsh words, not a single villager dared to speak up anymore, and the scoundrel from earlier had already run off with a guilty conscience.

Looking at the silent villagers, Fang Yi scoffed to himself. When spoken to nicely, you don’t listen; it seems I have to curse at you to make you understand, what a damn sickness!

Next, Fang Yi began to explain how to plant Grey Bone Grass, which was a challenge since these villagers had no experience with it, and Grey Bone Grass wasn’t easy to plant.

However, Fang Yi of course had a method, or he wouldn’t have come up with this idea.

In the scorching afternoon sun, Fang Yi instructed the villagers on the essentials of planting Grey Bone Grass. Meanwhile, from the second floor, Xu He stuck out her head, watching Fang Yi in the courtyard below, gradually becoming mesmerized.

As dusk approached, the villagers finally dispersed, and Xu He’s mother had already prepared dinner.

After dinner, Fang Yi prepared to take a bath. In the countryside, the place to bathe was just a pigpen, nothing fancy or equipped with a bathroom.

But Fang Yi didn’t mind; he wasn’t inexperienced with hard times.

Right before Fang Yi went in, Xu He stopped him.

"What’s up?""

Xu He held out the clothes in her hands and said, "I went to town today to buy these for you. Try them on later and see if they fit."

Fang Yi smiled and said, "Clothes bought by a big star must fit perfectly."

Xu He blushed and said, "Don’t talk nonsense."

Fang Yi just smiled and didn’t say anything more, turning around and going into the pigsty to take a bath.

After the bath, Fang Yi changed into the clothes Xu He had bought for him and then walked out, just in time to see Xu He, wearing a nightgown, carrying a bucket of water into the pigsty to bathe.

Fang Yi couldn’t help but feel amused. Who could have imagined that Xu He, the star who commanded so much attention, would come to this little mountain village to haul water for a bath in a pigsty? If the paparazzi knew about this, they’d surely go insane.

Fang Yi went out to the courtyard and lit a cigarette. Suddenly, he saw a shadowy figure sneaking past the gate.

Fang Yi squinted his eyes, then followed with the cigarette in his mouth.

This person was sneaking around like a thief, something seemed to be hanging around his neck, and he made his way to the back of the building. It seemed he was heading in the direction of the pigsty where Xu He was bathing.

"Damn it! I haven’t even seen it myself!" Fang Yi cursed under his breath. As soon as the person had snuck to the back of the pigsty, Fang Yi attacked from behind.

The person was shocked but was caught by Fang Yi and dragged to the ground. He was about to make a noise when Fang Yi stomped his mouth shut with his shoe. The person struggled, but Fang Yi stepped down harder, making him too afraid to move.

Then Fang Yi turned and looked through the pigsty’s ventilation window to check inside. First, he wanted to see if Xu He had noticed anything, and second... as a man, how could he not look at such an opportune moment?

(Deleted!)

Fang Yi dragged the person away to a secluded spot, turned on his phone’s flashlight, and finally saw the man’s face. He had a sleazy look and an even sleazier camera hanging around his neck; he was a paparazzo.

"I... I’m going to sue you!" The paparazzo’s mouth was still in pain and had started to swell.

"Sue me? Sorry, you won’t have that chance. If I kill you here, how will you sue?" Fang Yi said with a smile.

"You wouldn’t dare!" The paparazzo panicked immediately and said, "Someone knows I’m here. If I die, you won’t be able to get away with it."

Fang Yi smiled like a Maitreya Buddha and said, "So tell me, who sent you here?"

The paparazzo immediately clammed up.

Fang Yi didn’t hesitate, he lifted his foot, ready to stomp on the paparazzo’s mouth, who seeing this, hastily said, "Don’t... I’ll talk... I’ll talk..."

"Then talk!"

"It... it was Kong Mingkai!"

As expected, it was that guy. Fang Yi spat and withdrew his foot, saying, "Are you going to scram yourself, or should I make you?"

The paparazzo didn’t say another word, scrambled up, and ran off. In no time, the village was filled with the relentless barking of dogs.

Fang Yi returned to the courtyard. He had barely got back when Xu He came out, looking a bit off, and asked, "Where did you go?"

"Just went out for a walk," Fang Yi said, a bit guiltily.

"Really? I felt like someone was peeping while I was bathing. Did you see who it was?"

Fang Yi hurriedly shook his head, then indignantly said, "Whoever was so bold to peek at you bathing, if I catch them, I’ll kill them!"

Xu He touched her forehead and said, "Maybe it was just my imagination."

Fang Yi breathed a sigh of relief. This game of the thief shouting to catch the thief really wasn’t a pleasant feeling at all.
