Chapter 217: Chapter 218: You Won’t Be Lonely on the Road to the Yellow Springs

"They’re nothing but chickens and dogs," with these words out, the dining table fell silent. No one moved their chopsticks, nor did anyone dare to, even Song Chenghai, the Family Head, acted as though he hadn’t heard Fang Yi’s remark.

Fang Yi’s comment was clearly a veiled insult; though he hadn’t directly addressed Song Haoyue, anyone with half a brain could tell it was meant for Song Haoyue.

Liang Yong’s face turned ugly as he coldly said, "I want to duel with you!"

Fang Yi casually raised an eyebrow and smiled, "To the death?"

A look of hesitation flickered across Liang Yong’s face.

To the death?

If he were to lose, what would become of him?

Liang Yong suddenly realized he had fallen into Fang Yi’s trap.

"Heh, don’t have the guts? You’re supposed to be the trusted expert of the great young master of the Song family; you propose a duel and then don’t dare fight me? Don’t you think you’re bringing shame upon your master?" Fang Yi taunted with cold irony and disdain.

Liang Yong’s complexion turned even darker, akin to stormy waters. His fists clenched tightly with visible anger, he stared at Fang Yi with gritted teeth.

But just then, a cool voice arose, "Liang Yong, step back."

Song Haoyue’s expression was composed, her tone was even, showing no signs of anger.

Her words poured over Liang Yong like a bucket of cold water, snapping him out of it. He realized Fang Yi was provoking him and thankfully, the young master reminded him not to play right into Fang Yi’s hands.

With a resentful and poisonous look, Liang Yong glanced at Fang Yi then walked away, retreating behind Song Haoyue.

Fang Yi felt a tinge of regret in his heart. Why didn’t Liang Yong agree? Had he agreed and been crippled in the fight, it would have been a heavy slap in Song Haoyue’s face.

Although Fang Yi had just made things difficult, the impact was too slight, likely insignificant for someone like Song Haoyue.

Around a round table, Fang Yi sat with Fang Yuying, while Song Haoyue and Yan Yingnan were facing them—implying a confrontational stance.

With the corners of her mouth turned up, Song Haoyue revealed a gentle smile and said, "I am Song Haoyue, and you must be the legendary Fang Yi. Being able to meet you today is quite fascinating indeed."

Fang Yi responded lightly, "You flatter me, young master Song, but no matter how fascinating I might be, I couldn’t possibly compete with you—abducting young girls, betraying your own family, turning into a lackey in someone else’s household, sigh, isn’t that just so damn engaging?"

His words reeked of sarcasm, and even with Song Haoyue’s good temperament and high cultivation of mind, an involuntary flash of tempered annoyance appeared on her face.

Of course, it was just a fleeting moment before it subsided without further display.

However, Yan Yingnan beside Song Haoyue sneered coldly, "A bastard who relies on a bit of Martial Arts skills really thinks he’s invincible! Fine, I challenge you to a duel, to the death. Do you dare?"

Fang Yi laughed, "I’m not opposed to fighting a woman, but hey, someone will fight you."

Fang Yuying was dining. She put down her chopsticks, wiped her mouth with a napkin, and then looked at Yan Yingnan, calmly stating, "Alright, a duel it is. I’ll accompany you. Do you dare?"

Yan Yingnan scoffed, "Why wouldn’t I?"

Fang Yuying responded with a cold laugh of her own. When had she ever feared anyone?

Song Haoyue’s brows furrowed as she said, "Fang Yuying, this isn’t the Fang Family’s home but the Song family’s. Please keep that in mind."

Fang Yuying held her chin high with arrogance, "Oh, what’s the matter, Song Haoyue? Can’t handle it? Come on then, care to take me on one-on-one?"

Song Haoyue replied, "I do not practice Martial Arts, hence, a one-on-one with you is senseless. However, if you insist on causing trouble, there will be someone to deal with you here, and you should know of whom I speak."

Fang Yuying replied, "That person you’re talking about? Heh, forget about dealing with me, someone will take care of him later, and that someone is sitting right across from you, Song Haoyue."

Song Haoyue glanced at Fang Yi somewhat pointedly, and the always steady Song Haoyue’s lips curled into a slight, disdainful cold smile.

The atmosphere at the dining table was quite awkward, yet Fang Yi and Fang Yuying continued with their meal.

"Come on, little Fang Yi, try this..." Fang Yuying’s voice was sweet as she picked up some food with her chopsticks and placed it in Fang Yi’s bowl.

"Little Fang Yi, this looks good..."

"Come on, eat up, eat the Song family into bankruptcy..."

Fang Yuying served Fang Yi more food while saying this with a mockingly sarcastic tone, her words laced with provocation, but this time no one took the bait again, it looked like they had all learned their lesson.

Song Haoyue had great composure; even when she picked up food delicately, she seemed extremely careful. Yan Yingnan, on the other hand, gave Fang Yi cold sneers from time to time, making him wonder if it wouldn’t be better for that woman’s mouth if it didn’t split from all that smiling.

Though this was a banquet laid out by Song Haoyue, something that definitely could be dubbed a trap, what he had never expected was the whole banquet turned into Fang Yi’s home ground! And this complete turnaround was all because of the wild card, Fang Yuying.

If Fang Yuying were not present, Song Haoyue’s banquet would surely have become a genuine trap. But who would have known an unexpected Fang Yuying would barge in halfway through?

After the meal, Fang Yi stood up to bid farewell to Song Chenghai. Regardless, appearances still had to be maintained, and as for Song Chenghai, he still responded coldly, whereas Song Wuliang was grinning from ear to ear, patting his big beer belly, thoroughly enjoying himself.

Song Wuliang saw the two out and gave a thumbs-up: "Awesome! Just freakin’ awesome! That felt damn good!"

Fang Yi laughed, "But I think your dad doesn’t seem to think highly of me."

Song Wuliang responded, "Who cares about him, that’s just how he is," he said, and then with a cheerful grin, he turned to Fang Yuying, "Sis, you were also amazing! I, Song Wuliang, am completely impressed."

Fang Yuying crossed her arms in front of her chest, making the two mountain peaks under her shirt seem like they were about to burst forth, she asked, "How impressive?"

Song Wuliang, full of admiration, replied, "Impressively badass—like lightning!"

"That’s more like it," said Fang Yuying.

Fang Yi looked at the stout guy and said, "Aren’t they going to chew you out for messing around here with us when you get back?"

"Who dares scold me, I’ll beat them up!" declared Song Wuliang, then his confidence deflated like a punctured ball, "I guess I’ll get some dirty looks and a few pokes in the spine, but I’m used to it. Thanks for caring, bro."

Fang Yi nodded and said nothing more. Then Song Wuliang tossed a car key to Fang Yi, pointing to a white sports sedan not far from the gate, "Drive my car back."

After that, Song Wuliang turned and walked away, muttering, "Damn it, daring to smash my car! If I don’t take revenge, I, Song Wuliang, am not a man!"

"This fatty is kind of interesting," Fang Yuying commented, snatching the car key from Fang Yi’s hand.

"What are you doing!" Fang Yi exclaimed.

"Tonight, I want to drive; let’s go!" Fang Yuying declared.

...

Vroom~~~ Vroom~~~~

From the start, the silver-white sports sedan zoomed out like a rocket under Fang Yuying’s control, turning into a silvery white streak on the road.

"Whoa! This is thrilling!" Fang Yuying shouted loudly, her voice sultry and laced with a touch of madness.

"Holy shit, slow down, my little heart can’t take this," Fang Yi warned good-naturedly. In reality, he thought that the sports sedan wasn’t like a Land Rover or similar vehicles that could withstand Fang Yuying’s rough driving without falling apart.

"My dear brother, don’t worry. If I’m gonna die, I’ll drag you with me," Fang Yuying declared.

"I don’t want to die yet."

"You don’t want to die? If I end up on the road to the underworld, wouldn’t it be too lonely?" Fang Yuying said despondently.

Fang Yi was speechless. What a twisted sister, planning to drag her brother with her even in death—if that wasn’t twisted, what was?

"Eh?"

Fang Yuying suddenly let out a light exclamation.

"What’s up?" asked Fang Yi.

"Check the rearview mirror."

Fang Yi gave a grunt of acknowledgment, his curiosity rising as he glanced at the rearview mirror.
