Chapter 215: Chapter 216: Overbearing Older Sister (Part 2)
Even facing the head of the Song family, Fang Yuying wasn’t the least bit scared. It wasn’t an act, but rather an innate and intrinsic quality.
Think about it, locals of a region often hold a sense of disdain for outsiders. Not all, but the vast majority feel this way.
And now, Fang Yuying was looking at Song Chenghai with that same regard. Not just Song Chenghai, but the entire Song family, in fact.
In Tianjing, clans are categorized by grades, first-class, second, third; ranking is strictly adhered to, with each family’s strength as the measure. What kind of family would the Fang Family be, then?
The Fang Family couldn’t be described by a mere grade but should instead be referred to as ’supreme.’ In reality, any prominent figure, no matter where they were from, knew that, in the city of Tianjing – a den of hidden dragons and crouching tigers – crossing a family beyond first-class meant certain death.
Just like Fang Tianqi, who was so incredibly brazen in Moon City, no one from the four major families there dared to provoke him. This fact alone spoke volumes.
So at this moment, to say Fang Yuying was afraid? Sorry, in her personal dictionary, the word ’fear’ had never existed; she didn’t even know how to write it.
The atmosphere in the yard remained deathly silent, tense and poised for conflict.
Song Chenghai did not rage. If he got angry just from this, he wouldn’t be fit to sit as the head of the Song family.
But having been slighted by Fang Yuying, Song Chenghai was, needless to say, angered. He looked at the overbearing Fang Yuying and asked, maintaining his composure, "May I know the lady’s surname?"
Daring to assault someone here, and to confront him so directly, could she be just anybody?
With a sly smile, Fang Yuying said, "My surname is Fang."
As soon as she uttered these words, Song Chenghai’s expression changed drastically. Even Song Shicheng, pinned to the ground by Fang Yuying, widened his eyes in utter shock.
The surname Fang? Where did she come from?
Could anyone who dared to cause trouble at the Song family have come from anywhere other than the Fang Family in Tianjing?
Thinking of how his father had been beaten half to death by this woman, and now finding himself under her foot, the rage in his chest for revenge dissipated, leaving only fear behind.
What Song Shicheng hadn’t expected was that Fang Yi, a mere bouncer at Blue Cloud Bar, could receive such protection from a woman of the Fang surname. Wait, they both share the surname – could it be that Fang Yi is...
Reaching that point, Song Shicheng realized he had stumbled upon a certain direction of thought. It sounded absurd, like something out of a fantastical tale, but he couldn’t dare to think any further.
In the silent courtyard, the mood was somber. A glint flashed in Song Chenghai’s eyes before he said gravely, "So it’s a young lady from the Fang Family, my apologies."
But not everyone shared this sentiment, and someone called out, "So what if she’s from the Fang Family? She has beaten up the Third Grade Lord and Young Master Shicheng here; she’s showing too little regard for the Song family."
It was a woman’s voice, not particularly loud, just ordinary.
However, Song Chenghai frowned; this woman was clearly instigating. He said coldly, "Wuliang, slap her."
Song Wuliang chuckled and said, "Sure thing!"
Song Wuliang turned around, walked amidst the group of maids, dragged one out, and slapped her face several times in front of everyone without the slightest bit of mercy, striking hard. When Song Wuliang took action, he was never sloppy.
The maid’s face was full of fear as the slaps from Song Wuliang made her cry out in pain, an act that did not escape the eyes of anyone in the courtyard. Of course, it was meant most of all for Fang Yuying to see.
Song Chenghai didn’t interrogate the nanny, but looked towards Fang Yuying and said, "Miss Fang, are you satisfied?"
Fang Yuying wore a playful smile at the corner of her mouth. "A little satisfied, yes. Since the Song family is showing such sincerity, it would be wrong of me, Fang Yuying, to cling to the matter any further. However, I’m curious if my recent actions will be held against me still?"
Song Chenghai spoke indifferently, "It was my third brother and his son who were at fault. How could I, Song Chenghai, possibly hold a grudge? Miss Fang, you worry too much."
Fang Yuying clapped her hands, placed them on her hips, and said, "Alright, then that settles it. I wonder when dinner will be served?" As she spoke, she began walking toward Fang Yi.
Song Chenghai replied, "Dinner will be served momentarily."
Lying on the ground with two shoe prints on his face, Song Shicheng struggled to rise and then helped his father Song Feng to get up. At this moment, when Song Shicheng looked at Fang Yuying and Fang Yi again, his eyes were devoid of the earlier anger and venom.
Song Shicheng was afraid.
He knew that even if he wanted revenge, it was now impossible, for the gap between him and Fang Yuying was vast as earth is from heaven; this woman could crush him with a single step.
The once arrogant and domineering Song Feng, now dejectedly helping his father Song Feng leave the scene, went largely unnoticed—as if their presence was inconsequential.
Song Chenghai approached Fang Yuying to exchange pleasantries. He appeared calm and composed, showing no hint of his feelings. Song Wuliang cautiously followed behind Song Chenghai, fearful not just of his grandfather, but of his father as well.
"So you are Fang Yi, I’ve heard a lot about you," Song Chenghai greeted Fang Yi with a reserved distance.
Fang Yi was unconcerned. Were it not for the fact that he was Song Wuliang’s father, Fang Yi would not have shown him any respect.
The previous incident, whether orchestrated by Song Chenghai or Song Haoyue, had left a poor impression on Fang Yi. To not even defend one’s own brother from being beaten, was it an act of cowardice or composure? Fang Yi couldn’t tell.
Song Chenghai left Song Wuliang to keep Fang Yi and the others company. As soon as Song Chenghai stepped away, Song Wuliang’s previous cautious demeanor vanished; he pulled a chair over and sat next to Fang Yi, then glanced at Fang Yuying and said, "Fang Yi, could you introduce us?"
"Fang Yuying," replied Fang Yi in a detached tone.
"Ah," Song Wuliang exclaimed as if he suddenly realized, "That’s not enough—doesn’t say much." He then turned with a fat, cheerful face and said, "Sister Fang ah..."
"Hm?" The address ’big sister’ changed Fang Yuying’s expression to a frown.
"Not big sister, sis, just ’sister.’ May I ask what is the relationship between you and Fang Yi?" Song Wuliang quickly corrected himself, cautiously inquiring.
"Me? I’m his older sister, and he’s my younger brother," Fang Yuying casually said.
"Holy shit!" Song Wuliang blurted out instinctively, then turned to Fang Yi and said, "You’ve kept it well hidden, Fang Yi."
Suddenly, Song Wuliang was struck with fear—thankful he hadn’t crossed Fang Yi. Otherwise, he wouldn’t even know how he’d die. It wasn’t just because he was aware of Fang Yi’s methods but now realizing Fang Yi had such a violent sister backed by the Fang Family. Who could afford to provoke them and not pay with their life?
No wonder this guy broke Fang Tianqi’s legs without fearing any repercussions. Song Wuliang finally understood why, after that incident, Fang Yi could still afford to be so bold in Moon City.
Observing the fat man’s eyes rolling around, Fang Yi knew what he was thinking. He laughed and said, "I’m not a member of the Fang Family."
Despite his size, Song Wuliang was quick-witted. He immediately caught on and laughed, "Got it, I understand."
Fang Yi patted his round head and said, "Where’s Song Haoyue? He set up such a display as if it’s a feast at Hongmen, yet he hasn’t shown himself. The intimidation has been doled out, so why continue hiding? Isn’t that a bit dull?"
