Chapter 647: Chapter 647: Those Who Volunteered to Join the Battle
"What a hassle," Fang Jie remarked, looking at the documents in his hand.
Indeed, the territories left behind by the Chinese Lords were relatively normal. Despite some destruction, what remained was kept intact, as they hadn’t destroyed it themselves.
Yet they were continuously oppressed and didn’t have any good resources.
Even if they had acquired something, they definitely wouldn’t dare to produce it, as discovery would put them in grave danger.
So, aside from a few people who had hidden silver-level buildings, there wasn’t much of an extra haul.
The black people were more direct, and whether it was due to their nature or not, they were lazy and averse to developing their territories, always hoping others would provide for them. At the outset of the war, their desire to destroy was the strongest.
They destroyed not only their own but others’ as well, and their behavior could even be described as insane.
In contrast, the white lords managed to retain some structures. However, in total, aside from two gold-level buildings, there were no other structures. One of these was of the Demon Type, and the other was of the Desert Snake-man Type.
One represented a negative type and the other was entirely a niche camp.
The most populous Human Faction didn’t leave behind anything useful.
There were some silver-level buildings, which could slightly diversify the troop types available to him, but their actual value was almost negligible. The most valuable thing these fellows left him was the territories themselves.
"Master, many people are joining together in a petition to be part of the battle here," Anya mentioned.
Fang Jie looked up at Anya, "What’s going on? Who is joining the petition?"
"It’s primarily the people from our original land, especially those from the south, along with members of the Cabinet and the Parliament." As Anya spoke, she handed over the applications to Fang Jie.
Fang Jie glanced through them and found it was the same old stuff. Strict formatting, all sorts of praise and flattery.
Then they would put forth their demands, claiming how selfless they were. But Fang Jie didn’t believe them for a second—if they were truly without self-interest, they wouldn’t be so eager to sign up.
On his side, some people were needed for development and conquest, but not many.
Just for conquest, his skeletons were already sufficient.
"What on earth has agitated them so much, to be this frenzied?"
Looking at the large box that was brought in, these were various applications from all over, now organized. But seeing so much, Fang Jie lost even the interest to glance at it.
"It’s probably the territories that stimulated them. Having a territory is different from not having one."
Fang Jie nodded; with a territory, not only do you have many trustworthy troops but also an abundance of resources. Crucially, the territory itself provided a sort of enhancement to the Lord.
This wasn’t noticed before, but now it had become apparent to everyone.
People with similar conditions but with territories were cultivating much faster than those without them.
This speed was apparent in various aspects. Even if most of their time was spent dealing with official duties, their personal cultivation speed was still faster than others, which made many envious.
Territories represented not just authority but also strength. Some even said it represented potential.
However, no one could prove that; they just used Fang Jie as an example.
Fang Jie himself had ascended to Legendary Level in a short period, and as their leader, he made the perfect example.
"They’ve learned about us acquiring close to a hundred thousand territories. Since there’s enough to distribute, many people are excited."
So that was it. Additionally, because there were fewer people from Earth and most of them had given up on territories, opting for a safer approach after the initial three days.
But here it was different; despite a civil war, they were still able to retain as many as five million territories.
Unfortunately, their internal chaos coupled with the destructive disruption Fang Jie caused upon arrival resulted in his current holding of less than a hundred thousand territories.
However, this was in comparison to before; if compared with their home plane, it was an entirely different matter.
Unfortunately, these territories couldn’t be transferred to another plane, as transfer across planes was impossible.
They all wanted to come here, to achieve glory and conquer the ample unclaimed lands. Especially those who focused solely on cultivating and improving themselves, they were very interested in this place.
Knowing that there were no Demigods here, so nearly no danger provided a strong allure.
They desired territories to aid in their cultivation and had no other designs. Thus, it didn’t matter to them if this place had no further potential; they could dedicate their days to idle cultivation.
Moreover, there is always a possibility of change. Who knows, connect to other planes from the other side might become possible at some point.
"Moreover, the Chinese Lords are also actively responding, eager to regain their superior status."
"After their hard-won liberation, they immediately had other ideas. But it’s fine; at least they have some vigor. And what about the others? Any movement on their part?"
"The other lords are also applying, but they haven’t passed the second round of scrutiny. They’ve just been causing problems."
"They still think they can get away with their antics? They really believe I can’t handle them."
Fang Jie pondered for a moment and then commanded, "If anyone causes trouble in the future, eliminate them instantly, leave none spared. They need to learn how serious we are or they’ll think they’re above everyone else."
Fang Jie wasn’t of the same race as them, and to not instantly relegate them to lesser status based on their own paradigms was already gracious. They had the audacity to confront him with their ways at the slightest suspicion.
Did they really think he had no one else to call upon, that he needed them?
However, they indeed didn’t know where Fang Jie came from. If they did, they probably wouldn’t dare to make a fuss.
After all, Fang Jie had many followers, not just the Earth people but also a plethora of natives. These natives were often just as capable, if not more so, than those from Earth in many matters.
"Since they’ve all applied, give them a chance. Let Qin Lan take care of this matter, and you help out when you’re free." Hearing Fang Jie’s words, Anya pouted.
The troublesome tasks were handed to them once again. Anya could imagine just how taxing this task would be.
