Chapter 579: Chapter 579: The Next Stage That is Hard to Reach
After experimenting, Fang Jie had confirmed that the attack range of the Advanced Rune Arrow Tower was even greater than that of a Golden Level Death Energy Tower.
The Rune Arrows attacked faster, though they had no way of penetrating buildings and their own soldiers. But to this point, such an advantage was hardly worth mentioning.
The Arrow Tower came with three skills—Death Cloud Fog, Death Mark, and Soul Locking.
Death Cloud Fog was similar to the previous Arrow Tower’s Death Cloud Rune, but it had a larger range. The attack range could form patches of death energy clouds, causing enormous effects on enemies.
Moreover, this type of fog could persist, which also somewhat enhanced their own Undead Soldiers.
Whether used for attacking, as an obstacle, or as a war tactic, it was extremely useful.
Death Mark was meant for use against strong opponents—the mark increased the lethality of the attacks.
Once marked, an enemy struck by the Rune Arrow Tower would be hit as if attacked twice. Targeting a Legendary Level Expert, it might even be possible to instantly kill them.
However, this item seemed useless against Demigods, who could negate the marking.
Soul Locking was essentially about precision; it locked onto the soul of the target.
Once locked, the accuracy of the attacks could be greatly enhanced. Even when attacking through the air, arrows could curve, making it difficult for even Legendary Experts known for their speed to dodge.
Used in conjunction with the Death Mark, this became a real counter against Legendary beings.
What was crucial was the added ability of the Advanced Rune Arrow Tower to increase manpower, specifically Golden Level magic system Undead. Currently, his most suitable underlings were the Golden Mage Ghosts.
After inserting four of them, the tower functioned just like a Multi-Rune Arrow Tower, capable of attacking five targets simultaneously.
However, while the Multi-Rune Arrow Tower couldn’t release five attacks at one target, the manpower-enhancing Advanced Rune Arrow Tower could. It could completely create a situation of five against one.
This increase was effectively like turning one Arrow Tower into five.
This cost-effectiveness far surpassed that of other defensive buildings. Especially when combined with his own Undead Splitting, which significantly reduced the cost of his undead, this was even more so.
The five attack positions could all utilize their inherent abilities.
This device could easily scale, and once scaled, it would be incredibly formidable.
And four Golden Mages, who retained use of their magic, even had their attack range amplified to match that of the Arrow Tower.
This provided a perfect opportunity for powerful magic with shorter ranges to come into play. Despite draining their own magic power, with the Rune Arrow Tower’s protection, there were no safety concerns.
Often times, the effects of the magic under the control of these mages far surpassed those of the Magic Towers.
Properly utilized, this thing was simply a divine artifact on the battlefield.
It seemed necessary to develop some special magic specifically tailored for this device.
After reviewing the Arrow Tower, Fang Jie turned to the Territory panel. But soon after, Fang Jie chuckled wryly. "It seems there’s a reason why the Lord’s Cottage is called the most powerful ability."
Fang Jie finally understood why so many pursued territory; the potential of territory was far greater than he had imagined.
Once the territory reached the Main City stage, it could still be upgraded, albeit under much stricter conditions.
Besides the earlier simple material resources, there were five primary conditions to be added. In comparison, those resources and materials were negligible, as Fang Jie could already gather them all.
But the most troublesome of the five additional conditions were becoming a Lord Demigod; having total control over a Plane; having five subordinate Demigods; possessing five Demigod corpses; and one Plane Divine Artifact.
Lord Demigod meant that he, as the Lord, must reach the Demigod level.
Fang Jie couldn’t deny this, as he believed he would definitely reach this level. However, the timing was uncertain. It seemed he needed to continue exploring the otherworld to ascend swiftly.
Of course, this was not only to upgrade the city level but also for his own safety, for his advancement and future heights. However, whether there were things to be wary of, Fang Jie needed to gather more information.
Then came completely controlling a Plane, which confused Fang Jie.
To fully master a Plane, did it mean controlling an otherworld Plane? But that seemed impractical because once controlled to a certain extent, it would inevitably be discovered and devoured by the All Heavens Hunting Ground.
Perhaps there was something wrong with his understanding; anyway, this needed further research.
Then, having five subordinate Demigods was not too difficult. With an effective method he had already figured out, and already having two Demigods under him, adding three more was not an impossibility.
It might even be the first condition he could meet, and not too far in the future.
Next were five Demigod corpses, which wouldn’t be easy. On one hand, because of the powerful nature of Demigods, it was difficult to kill them. Fights between Demigods, unless there was a significant difference in strength, rarely resulted in one killing the other.
Demigods of similar strength, even several ganging up on one, struggled to subdue them.
That wasn’t even the most troublesome part, as the identity of Demigods was the biggest issue. Demigods scarcely were alone; at least none near him were. Behind each Demigod was a powerful force, and within those forces, there were more than one Demigod.
Without absolute power, Fang Jie would absolutely not make his move against these individuals.
So, this would require patiently waiting for the right opportunity.
The final condition also left Fang Jie puzzled, as it required a Plane Divine Artifact.
Speaking of which, among his possessions, the highest level was only Diamond; he didn’t know what level Divine Artifacts were. Whether they were one level above Diamond, two levels, or if it wasn’t about rank at all.
But rather something that needed meeting certain conditions to be called a Divine Artifact, Fang Jie did not understand any of this.
Not to mention, he had never even thought about the classes of Divine Artifacts. What exactly this Plane Divine Artifact was, Fang Jie had no idea. Indeed, a bit too little information available made Fang Jie quite frustrated.
"Never mind, let’s develop slowly; one day these things will become clearer."
Fang Jie could only comfort himself, looking around at pairs of eager eyes; Fang Jie still had to share his current joy with them.
"Prepare a victory feast, starting today our Territory has made great progress. However, keep a low profile, and do not let outsiders know."
