Chapter 261: Chapter 261: Falling Out and Breaking Away from the Family

"Make haste, don’t let them catch you."

"Miss, you go first, we’ll hold them back."

By the seaside, Rory quickly boarded a small boat. In the vast sea, it’s generally very dangerous to travel by such a small vessel. However, given the urgency of the situation, there was no time for anything else.

From behind, one could see flames progressing rapidly towards them in the distance.

Rory knew it wasn’t the time to waste. While urging them to set sail, she said, "I’ll remember you all. If there’s a chance, fight to survive, and I’ll figure out a way to rescue you."

After she spoke, the boat had already entered the sea, and the people on the other side were closing in.

Those in the forefront were numerous, yet their strength wasn’t overwhelming.

Thus, as soon as they met, the battle began and lasted until everyone was subdued. By then, the small boat could hardly be seen, almost vanishing from sight. At sea, being out of sight meant a very great distance.

"Darn it, we can’t catch up. What do we do now?"

A young man with a sullen face said, "Please, Tributor, intervene. We must capture her; we can’t let her go back."

On the boat, Rory remained silent, staring at the sea, lost in her thoughts. She had thought that she could properly communicate with her family, but what she met with was betrayal instead.

The high-ranking members of her family were forcibly trying to take away her managerial rights to control the Material Trading House.

It was laughable. They never considered who stood behind the Material Trading House and why that entity would let them take over just because they snatched it or asked her to speak out.

Had she not fled swiftly, she would have been captured already.

Ever since becoming the sea Manager for the Material Trading House, she hadn’t sent any benefits back home. They not only lacked gratitude, but they also grew greedier, wanting to take everything.

While escaping, she even heard her idiotic brother detailing his so-called plan.

How delusional to think, just by relinquishing managerial rights, they could ensure the Keli family’s recognition by Quisha Island. It was clear without consideration that the Undead on Quisha Island had grand ambitions and plans.

Cooperating with such a family was utterly out of the question.

The reason for choosing her had as much to do with her ability and luck as with her desire to grow her own power. If there were affiliations with other significant forces, they would never have given her such autonomy.

She couldn’t believe that after giving so much to her family, this was the outcome she received.

Time passed unknown, when suddenly, a tremendous force swept over from a distance.

"Rory, come back with me. Do you wish to betray your family?"

Rory slowly stepped out, eyeing the speedily approaching boat. That kind of speed wasn’t normal for any boat. A Golden Strong Person on the boat was the key. His Fighting Spirit propelled the boat to achieve such velocity.

"Didn’t expect they’d even call on you to come out. Don’t you understand that this behavior will only cause enmity with Quisha Island?"

"I’m not concerned with those things. My objective is to bring you back. You can deal with your family afterward."

Hmph, deal with the family? If that were possible, it wouldn’t have come to this. Blinded by the family’s past glories, they were oblivious to the risks of opposing truly powerful forces.

"Tributor Kara, even if it means dying here today, I will not return."

Rory knew that if she returned, her fate would be far more tragic than death here.

"You don’t get a say in this." As Kara spoke, she was already rapidly nearing. But just as Kara was about to act, she suddenly looked up, her face gravely fixated on the sky.

At that moment, a massive Dragon shadow loomed above, staring intently at her.

"This is bad, why is there such a powerful Undead here?" A sense of unease overcame Kara. Perhaps it was better to leave, let the Flying Dragon finish Rory, and claim she chose suicide over coming back with them.

Before Kara could come to a decision, the Skeleton Flying Dragon spoke up, "This person is our ally. What do you intend to do with her?" The Dragon’s power unfolded, exerting a terrifying pressure that made Kara feel the dread.

Though both were Gold Level, Kara knew she was no match for the Skeleton Flying Dragon.

"Rory is a member of our family. She has made mistakes, and I am here to take her back."

"No, I’ve already left the Keli family. From today on, I have nothing to do with them." Rory’s eyes shimmered with determination. She owed the family nothing, having repaid her dues long ago. Now was the time to live the life she wanted.

"What are you saying? Do you know the consequences of betraying your family?"

"I haven’t betrayed anyone—it’s you who betrayed me. I did so much for the family, yet you never once thought of letting me live as I desired, treating me like a mere tool for exploitation."

"I’ve had enough of this life. I have the capability now, why should I listen to you?"

Kara’s expression darkened. Although the family was indeed acting in this manner, which family didn’t? Those that didn’t act this way couldn’t grow and prosper and would soon be destroyed.

"Have you really thought this through? Betrayal means absolute hostility. The family will never let you go."

"I’ve made up my mind. I am curious to see what the family can do against Quisha Island." The might of Quisha Island had been brilliantly showcased in previous battles. Though the Keli family might be wealthy, their power was incomparable.

As she was speaking, two White Bone Griffin Knights flew towards them from the sky. Kara knew she couldn’t linger any longer.

If the other side wished to deal with her, she wouldn’t stand a chance of escaping.

"Alright, I understand. I’ll inform the family of this situation." Kara, without another thought, swiftly changed direction, her Fighting Spirit propelling the boat at a great speed.

On land, she was no match for these air units, let alone on the open sea.

A Gold Level individual could remain airborne for brief periods using Fighting Spirit, but the strain was too great, and it lacked agility. Engaging in aerial combat with those with true flight capabilities was akin to courting death.

Once she put some distance between them, Kara glanced back worriedly to see that the enemy hadn’t pursued, and it was only then she breathed a sigh of relief.

But Quisha Island was indeed troublesome to deal with. "Nevermind, why should I think so much? This issue should naturally be resolved by those who stirred it up." Kara decided to stop pondering it. After all, she was nothing more than a Tributor now.
