Girl Hero: Revenge on Goblins! -
Chapter 199: D72. The Beginning of Darkness
Chapter 199: D72. The Beginning of Darkness
After picking up a quest at the Adventurer Guild and deciding on her destination, the Hero, following the map, arrived at the coach station in Border City without much trouble and successfully found travel companions to share a ride to the highlands.
Although she had the Count’s Black Card in hand, allowing her to hire a carriage by herself, she heard that the road to the highlands was perilously steep, which made the carriage fare unexpectedly high. Since she could find people to share the cost, the Hero was naturally happy to save some money.

"Please take care of me!"
The Hero greeted the three Female Adventurers with a notebook in hand, smiling.
But apparently, these Female Adventurers had no intention of being friendly. They glanced at her coldly, which made her silently put her notebook away.
"Heh, let’s talk after you make it back alive, Miss High and Mighty. The highland is no place for your leisurely strolls," one of them responded with a sardonic twist in her voice.
Then, with the coachman’s call, the Chocobo Cart began to speed off.
Though she had heard about it beforehand, the road to the highlands turned out to be even more treacherous than the Hero had imagined.
As soon as they hit the mountainous road of the highland, the carriage began to shake violently, turning everyone’s complexion gradually pale.
The sturdy carriage swayed as if in an earthquake, making everyone worry whether it would fall apart the very next second.
No wonder military officers regarded this highland as a natural fortress. Such mountain roads not only presented a great challenge for passage by armies and the Arcane Surge, but even completing the journey was a huge ordeal.
The three Female Adventurers, whose purpose for going to the highlands was unknown, no longer had the strength to mock the Hero. Each of them clung to their seats, eyes shut tightly, enduring the tempestuous motion.

As time passed, even the Hero, who initially could endure it, lay powerlessly on the seat.
Her keen Perception made her especially sensitive to the vibrations.
It felt as if her body were as heavy as the boulder that once rolled down the cliff and blocked the village path. Yet her head felt like a balloon tied to the boulder with a thin string, being tossed around by Raging Winds.
Her body felt as if it were filled with lead, her head Light and Floating, inducing a sense of imbalance and nausea so bad that she couldn’t even muster the energy to vomit.
The coachman, accustomed to these mountain roads, and the Chocobos, whose heads remained level no matter how fast their legs scurried, were unaffected by the treacherous journey and maintained speed toward the destination station.
As for the three Female Adventurers across from her—

"So I told you, the highland is not something a little girl like you can underestimate—blarghahaha hahaha vomit."
"Shut up, you idiot, it’s really irritating to listen to."
And now, facing the Hero, two of the three Female Adventurers were just as ill, each with a pained expression.
The Female Adventurer who had made fun of her earlier now looked like a lump of mud.
Nonetheless, she persisted in projecting her scornful laughter towards the Hero, causing her equally uncomfortable companions to scold her.
Only the leading Female Adventurer managed to maintain some composure, though sweat beaded on her forehead.
The highland had more terrors than just its roads; as the altitude climbed and the Magic Element environment shifted, she too sensed some discomfort creeping into her body.
[Hero’s High-Altitude Sickness (altitude 3188, D3, Constitution Exemption 80, every 10 points subtract 1 from Constitution)]
3d100+30=d100(2)+d100(17)+d100(85)+30=134-30=104

"Alright, both of you shut up."
The lead Female Adventurer shook her head in resignation, quieting her two companions.
"Judging by the stains on the floor here, which clearly are too stubborn to clean, you’re not the first to ’shit’ with your mouth here, but I’d rather not complete the rest of this mountain journey together with your vomit.
"The smell is one thing, but if it splashes up with the bumps, I’ll just have to use both of you as my carpets."
The lead Female Adventurer’s biting remark caused the other two to pale and cover their mouths,
Even the Hero, who was lying like a corpse, couldn’t help but twitch and shrink away from the most nauseated one—who had mocked her.
She wasn’t worried about vomiting herself; she had a fast metabolism, and there was nothing left in her stomach now.
"What’s that supposed to mean, you little—woah."
Seeing the Hero’s overt aversion, the mocking Female Adventurer couldn’t finish her sentence before the tumultuous tidal wave in her stomach forced her to clamp her jaws shut.
However, noticing that the Hero didn’t seem to throw up, the leading Female Adventurer became curious and struck up a conversation with her.
"With a Familiar in tow and that hair color... You’re a Noble, aren’t you? How interesting, a young Miss mingling with us poor folk in the same carriage."
