Yu Shuchang’s words made Sheng Yin freeze.

Why did he sound so... hurt?

She frowned. "What do you mean?"

Yu Shuchang leaned back and sighed. "Forget it."

Sheng Yin bit her lip. She wanted to say something, but in the end, she just opened the car door and stepped out.

Before she could close the door, Yu Shuchang’s voice came again.

"You really don’t care about me at all?"

Sheng Yin’s heart skipped a beat.

She turned back to look at him. His usual teasing smile was gone. His eyes looked deep, serious.

For some reason, she felt guilty.

She took a deep breath and said,

"I do. But as the contract stated...it was only to let your mother stop pestering you."

Yu Shuchang who had been silent till now suddenly said calmly,

"Then Miss Sheng you will have to give me 1 billion dollars. After all the contract had stated that you will have to play the role of my girlfriend for 2 years."

"The contract also stated that no physical touches should be involved." Sheng Yin shouted back.

Yu Shuchang raised an eyebrow. "Oh? So you read the contract carefully?"

Sheng Yin crossed her arms. "Of course! I’m not stupid!"

Yu Shuchang smirked. "Then you should also remember the part where it says if you break the contract early, you have to compensate me."

Sheng Yin’s mouth opened, then closed. Wait... was that really in the contract?

Her mind raced as she tried to remember.

Yu Shuchang leaned forward. "What’s wrong? Can’t remember?"

Sheng Yin gritted her teeth. "I... I don’t have 1 billion dollars!"

Yu Shuchang tilted his head. "Then I guess you’ll have to continue being my girlfriend."

Sheng Yin felt like throwing something at him.

This was blackmail!

"You—you are being unreasonable!" she huffed.

Yu Shuchang chuckled. "Business is business, Miss Sheng."

Sheng Yin stomped her foot. "I don’t care! I won’t do it anymore!"

Yu Shuchang sighed, then suddenly reached out and flicked her forehead.

"Ow!" Sheng Yin covered her forehead and glared at him.

"You’re too naive," Yu Shuchang said with a smirk. "Do you really think you can run away so easily?"

Sheng Yin wanted to argue, but then she saw the way he was looking at her.

It wasn’t just playful anymore.

It was serious.

Almost... possessive.

Her heart thumped.

Why did she suddenly feel like she was a rabbit caught in a hunter’s trap?

Yu Shuchang got out of the car and walked up to Sheng Yin. Seeing her slightly moist eyes, he hugged her and said softly,

"There there...I won’t ask for money. Let’s break the contract."

Sheng Yin stiffened in his arms.

Wait... what?

He was letting her go?

She slowly pulled away and looked up at him, confused. "You... you mean it?"

Yu Shuchang gave a small smile, but his eyes looked strange. "Of course. If you want to leave so badly, I won’t force you."

Sheng Yin stared at him. She thought he would argue, tease her, or find another excuse to make her stay. But instead... he gave up just like that?

She should be happy. This was what she wanted.

So why did she feel... weird?

Her chest felt tight, like she had lost something.

Sheng Yin forced a smile. "O-Okay then. Thanks."

Yu Shuchang nodded. "Go inside. It’s late."

Sheng Yin hesitated, then turned and walked toward the villa.

But after a few steps, she couldn’t help but glance back.

Yu Shuchang was still standing there, watching her.

For some reason, her heart ached.

She quickly looked away and rushed inside.

As soon as the door closed behind her, she leaned against it, pressing a hand to her chest.

Why did she feel like crying?

She shook her head. "No, no. This is good. This is what I wanted."

But even as she said it, she didn’t believe it.

Outside, Yu Shuchang stood for a moment before getting back into his car.

He gripped the steering wheel tightly, his jaw clenched.

"You really want to leave me that badly, Sheng Yin?" he muttered under his breath.

His eyes darkened.

"Fine. Let’s see if you can."

Yu Holea along with Qiao Jun returned back to the City S.

On reaching the first news she got was that Sheng Yin had broken off the contract.

She was startled.

So Sheng Yin truly didn’t like Yu Shuchang?

Yu Holea saw Sheng Yin the next morning. Seeing Yu Holea, Sheng Yin greeted cascually,

"Good morning."

Yu Holea greeted back and noticed the dark circles under Sheng Yin’s eyes,

"What happened, why are you looking so tired?"

Sheng Yin shook her head and said,

"Nothing much...just a bit of headache. Oh right, I will start my shooting for the movie tomorrow and might not be able to contact you much."

Yu Holea nodded. She didn’t mention Yu Shuchang at all.

If Sheng Yin didn’t have feelings for Yu Shuchang, Yu Holea made up her mind not to force Sheng Yin.

Even though Yu Shuchahng was important for her, Sheng Yin was equally important for her too.

However, she did feel that she needed to console her brother. Hence after Sheng Yin left she asked Yu Shuchang about his location and reached there.

Soon Yu Holea reached Yu Shuchang’s villa and was surprised to see him completely fine. He didn’t look hurt at all.

Was all the love that he claimed he had for Sheng Yin a lie?

Yu Holea couldn’t help but feel angry. Yet she decided to ask first before reaching any conclusion,

"Brother, why do you seem so calm? Aren’t you sad that Sheng Yin broke the contract?"

"Why would I be? By the way, I am going for a movie shoot tomorrow and won’t be able to contact you." Yu Shuchang said with a smile.

Yu Holea frowned and was about to continue to question but suddenly she stopped and a knowing look appeared in her eyes.

Yu Holea stared at her brother, her arms crossed. "You... are going to a movie shoot?"

Yu Shuchang nodded, still smiling. "Yeah. Got a role. Exciting, right?"

Yu Holea’s eye twitched. "Since when do you act?"

Yu Shuchang shrugged. "Since now."

Yu Holea narrowed her eyes.

"And let me guess... the movie set just happens to be the same one where Sheng Yin is filming?"

Yu Shuchang chuckled. "What a coincidence."

"Don’t tell me that the movie’s male lead is you." Yu Holea question further.

"Exactly." Yu Shuchang nodded.

Yu Holea: "..."

Yu Holea took a deep breath. "Brother, are you serious?"

Yu Shuchang grinned. "Of course. Why not? I think I’ll be a great actor."

Yu Holea rubbed her forehead. "You never acted before!"

Yu Shuchang shrugged. "There’s a first time for everything."

Yu Holea sighed. "And let me guess... You got this role last minute?"

Yu Shuchang smirked. "Bingo."

Yu Holea stared at him. "You bribed someone, didn’t you?"

Yu Shuchang put a hand on his chest. "How could you think so little of me?"

Yu Holea rolled her eyes. "Because I know you."

Yu Shuchang just smiled.

Yu Holea sighed again. "So, what’s your plan? Annoy Sheng Yin until she comes back to you?"

Yu Shuchang’s smile didn’t change, but his eyes had a sharp glint. "I just want to see if she really doesn’t care about me."

Yu Holea crossed her arms. "And if she doesn’t?"

Yu Shuchang leaned back. "Then I’ll make her care."

Yu Holea stared at him, then shook her head. "You are hopeless."

Yu Shuchang chuckled. "You already said that."

Yu Holea sighed for the hundredth time.

"Fine. Do whatever you want. But don’t come crying to me if things go wrong."

Yu Shuchang smirked. "Don’t worry. I never lose."

Yu Holea just shook her head and left.

The next day when Sheng Yin was leaving Yu Holea hugged her and said,

"Take care. Best of luck."

Sheng Yin was amused by such a strange blessing and asked,

"Why do you sound so serious? It’s just a movie shoot."

Yu Holea patted her back. "Just take care. And... don’t be too shocked, okay?"

Sheng Yin frowned. "What do you mean?"

Yu Holea just smiled mysteriously. "You’ll find out soon."

Sheng Yin felt weird, but she didn’t ask more. She waved goodbye and got into the car.

When she arrived at the set, everything seemed normal at first. The director greeted her, and the crew was busy setting things up.

But then—

"Good morning, Miss Sheng."

That voice—

Sheng Yin froze. She slowly turned around.

Yu Shuchang stood there, wearing a casual yet stylish outfit, his usual playful smirk on his face.

Sheng Yin blinked. "What... are you doing here?"

Yu Shuchang grinned. "What do you think? I’m your male lead."

Sheng Yin’s mouth dropped open. "WHAT?!"

She closed her eyes and opened them again to make sure that she wasn’t dreaming.

The director clapped his hands.

"Great, you two know each other already! That makes things easier!"
