Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All
Chapter 696: Meeting Fu Jian

Chapter 696: Chapter 696: Meeting Fu Jian

The words hit harder than any of his grandfather’s cruel insults.

Fu Jian’s heart felt like it was cracking, but he bit his lip, refusing to let a single tear fall.

"Fine," he whispered. "Thanks for being honest."

"Hm...don’t you have Yu Sicong? You should try to call him. Maybe he will help you." Bei Han suggested.

A bitter smile appeared on Fu Jian’s face.

Yu Sicong? That guy would love to hear that he was down. After all, Yu Sicong never had feelings for him.

It was his own fantasy.

He hung up the phone before Bei Han could say another word.

The old woman was still standing there, watching him with worried eyes.

Fu Jian handed her back the phone with a small, tight smile.

"Thank you," he said quietly.

The old woman looked at him, her eyes soft with pity. "Are you... are you okay, dear?" she asked gently.

Fu Jian shook his head, but he forced a weak smile. "I’ll be fine. Thank you again."

She hesitated like she wanted to say more, but in the end, she just nodded and walked away, leaving Fu Jian standing alone on the cold sidewalk.

The wind felt sharper now, cutting through his thin hospital gown.

His stomach growled, but he ignored it. He had no money, no phone, no friends, and nowhere to go.

The people he trusted most had turned their backs on him, and the weight of that betrayal sat heavy in his chest.

But he wasn’t going to cry. Not here. Not now.

Fu Jian took a deep breath, trying to calm the storm inside him.

He had to figure out what to do next.

He couldn’t let his grandfather win.

He couldn’t let all those people who laughed at him, who used him, think they’d broken him.

I’ll show them, he thought. I’ll get back on my feet. I don’t need any of them.

But first, he needed a place to sleep and something to eat.

Fu Jian started walking, his bare feet aching on the rough pavement. He didn’t know where he was going, but anywhere was better than standing still.

As he passed by a small alley, he saw an old cardboard box and some blankets piled up in the corner.

It wasn’t much, but it was better than nothing.

He shuffled over, curled up under the blankets, and tried to ignore the cold seeping into his bones.

...

Before returning to City S, Yu Holea insisted on going around in the capital.

Qiao Jun could only helplessly indulge her.

"Why are you so insisted on going into the capital’s market today?"

Yu Holea grinned and explained,

"As far as I have calculated, I will meet a very important person today if I go to the capital market!"

Qiao Jun sighed but didn’t argue. He knew when Yu Holea got like this, there was no changing her mind.

So, they made their way toward the bustling capital market.

The streets were crowded, full of people selling fruits, clothes, and random trinkets.

The air smelled like grilled meat mixed with spices, and the sound of people bargaining filled the air.

Yu Holea’s eyes darted around, scanning the crowd. She tugged on Qiao Jun’s sleeve, pulling him deeper into the market.

"Who exactly are we looking for?" he asked, dodging a man carrying a crate of vegetables.

"I don’t know yet!" she chirped, grinning like this was all a game. "But I’ll know when I see them."

Qiao Jun rolled his eyes but followed her anyway.

Just then someone suddenly rushed toward Yu Holea and snatched her purse away.

Qiao Jun’s eyes widened and he was about to teleport to the thief’s location when Yu Holea held his hand and shook her head,

"He is leading us to the destined person."

Qiao Jun instantly calmed down and nodded.

So, they started running after the thief, weaving through the busy market crowd.

The thief was fast, darting around people and stalls, but Yu Holea and Qiao Jun were faster.

They followed him down a narrow alley, where the noise of the market faded, and the air felt colder.

The thief finally stopped near a pile of old cardboard boxes and blankets. He turned around, surprised to see them still following him.

But before anyone could say anything, a weak voice spoke from behind the boxes.

"Hey... what’s going on?" A voice sounded.

Slowly, she stepped forward, and there, curled up under the dirty blankets, was Fu Jian.

Yu Holea stared at Fu Jian before her eyes widened in surprise.

After knowing the truth and the regrets of her brothers, Yu Holea decided to know who her brother-in-law was.

So she got to know about Fu Jian.

His name, his face, and his attempts to please her eldest brother.

Yu Holea knew everything about Fu Jian. She was amazed by Fu Jian’s dedication and persistence.

To be honest, if she was in her brother’s place she might have been moved too.

Hence she had a deep impression of Fu Jian.

But what she from her memories was...Fu Jian was the young master of the influential Fu family.

How did he end up here?

Fu Jian didn’t know Yu Holea and Qiao Jun but from his experience, he knew what was happening.

In an instant, he tripped the thief and pinned the thief down.

The thief struggled under Fu Jian’s grip, but Fu Jian held him down firmly, his tired body fueled by pure instinct.

"Give back the purse," Fu Jian said, his voice low but steady.

The thief, realizing he was outmatched, quickly tossed the purse to the side and tried to squirm free.

But Fu Jian wasn’t letting go.

Yu Holea rushed over, grabbing her purse, but her eyes stayed on Fu Jian, filled with surprise and curiosity.

"Hey, it’s okay," she said gently. "You can let him go now."

Fu Jian hesitated, then slowly released the thief.

The man scrambled to his feet and bolted down the alley, disappearing around the corner.

Qiao Jun walked up, staring at Fu Jian. "You didn’t have to do that, you know."

Fu Jian stood up, brushing the dirt off his hospital gown. His face was pale, and his legs wobbled slightly.

"Didn’t want him to hurt anyone," he muttered.

Yu Holea stepped closer, her eyes softening. "You’re Fu Jian, right?"

Fu Jian’s head snapped up, his eyes narrowing. "How do you know my name?"

Suddenly his eyes fell on Yu Holea’s silver hair and his eyes narrowed,

"You...you are Yu Sicong’s recently found sister, right?"

Yu Holea’s eyes sparkled with surprise.

"Wow, you really do know me!" she said, grinning.

"Yep, I’m Yu Holea. And you must be Fu Jian—the guy who chased after my cold-hearted brother."

Fu Jian’s face tightened. He didn’t like being reminded of that.

"What do you want from me?" he asked, his voice flat and tired.

"I don’t want anything from you," Yu Holea said, her grin fading into a softer expression.

"But it looks like you need some help."

Fu Jian clenched his fists.

"I don’t need anyone’s help. Especially not from his family."

Qiao Jun crossed his arms, giving Fu Jian a serious look.

"Dude, you’re wearing a hospital gown and sleeping in an alley. You sure about that?"

Fu Jian opened his mouth to argue, but his stomach growled loudly again, cutting him off. His face turned red, and he looked away, embarrassed.

Yu Holea chuckled softly.

"Look, we’re not here to pity you. We just... showed up at the right time, I guess."

She reached into her purse and pulled out a small wrapped bun.

"Here. At least eat something."

Fu Jian stared at the bun like it was some kind of trick. But his hunger won. Slowly, he took it from her hand.

"Thanks," he muttered, biting into the bun.

The warm food hit his empty stomach like magic, and he closed his eyes for a second, savoring it.

Yu Holea watched him carefully and once Fu Jian finished eating she asked,

"Brother-in-law, did you have a fight with my eldest brother?"

Brother-in-law?

Fu Jian was stunned hearing Yu Holea’s words.

"Even if you had a fight, you should let him know about your condition. His heart would shatter into a million pieces if he knew you were suffering so much." Yu Holea continued.

Fu Jian stared at Yu Holea, his mind blank for a second.

She was acting like he and Yu Sicong were still something.

He shook his head quickly.

"You’ve got it all wrong," he said, his voice low. "I did chase your brother but your brother doesn’t care about me. He never did."

Yu Holea frowned, crossing her arms.

"That’s not true. I know my brother. He’s just... bad at showing feelings."

Fu Jian laughed, but it wasn’t a happy sound.

"Bad at showing feelings? He threw me away like trash. That’s not ’bad at feelings,’ that’s just cold."

Yu Holea didn’t back down.

"So why don’t you give him a call and let him know about your recent condition and see if he cares or not."
