Chapter 646: Chapter 646: Manager Gu
Nan Kelin sighed, rubbing his temples as if the whole situation was giving him a headache. "Su, stop making a scene," he said, his voice weary.
But Assistant Su wasn’t done. She crossed her arms and glared at Nan Kelin.
"Kelin, you’re too soft! People like her take advantage of kindness. If you don’t deal with this now, she’ll bleed you dry!"
Yu Holea finally spoke,
"Assistant Su, you’re quick to assume the worst without understanding the situation. If you feel reporting me is necessary, go ahead. I have nothing to hide."
Assistant Su blinked, caught off guard by Yu’s unwavering composure.
"Oh, I will," she snapped, though her voice faltered slightly.
Nan Kelin stood up, his expression stern.
"That’s enough, both of you," he said, his voice firm now.
He turned to Assistant Su.
"Assistant Su, I appreciate your concern, but you’ve crossed the line too many times today. If you want to report someone, report me for choosing to listen to Miss Yu. This is my decision, not yours."
Su’s mouth opened and closed, but she couldn’t find the words to argue. Her face flushed with frustration and embarrassment.
Nan turned to Yu Holea and gave her a small nod.
"Miss Yu, I apologize for all of this. Please continue with what you were saying earlier. If it can help, I’m willing to listen."
Yu Holea smiled lightly, "I guess it’s not the right time to talk. Let’s talk later."
With that she passed him, her phone number.
Assistant Su gritted her teeth when Nan Kelin accepted the phone number. Nan Kelin looked at the number and smiled,
"Sure."
Once Yu Holea was out of the room, she heard Assistant Su asking Nan Kelin to hand over the number and tore the paper.
A glint flashed in Yu Holea’s eyes. Just then her manager, Manager Gu called her.
Manager Gu was one of the pickest managers in the company. Till now she had only taken two artists under her.
Both the artist’s careers skyrocketed and they even won many best actress and actor awards.
However, those two artists unfortunately died, making Manager Gu the unlucky manager.
Glancing at the screen, she saw it was her manager, Manager Gu. Her sharp and disciplined manager rarely called unless it was something important.
"Hello, Manager Gu," Yu Holea greeted, her voice steady.
"Where are you?" Manager Gu’s voice came through, clipped and to the point as always.
"I just left Mr. Nan’s room," Yu Holea replied. "There was... a bit of a situation."
Manager Gu’s tone sharpened. "What situation? Tell me everything."
Yu Holea gave a brief but clear summary of what had just happened.
She explained how Assistant Su had insulted her, mocked her abilities, and even threatened to report her to the company.
There was silence on the other end for a moment before Manager Gu let out a cold laugh.
"Assistant Su dared to speak to you like that?" she said, her voice laced with icy disbelief. "Wait there."
The call ended abruptly.
Yu Holea raised an eyebrow, her curiosity piqued.
She glanced at the closed door of Nan Kelin’s room, and a small smile played on her lips.
How could she wait when she could sense drama brewing? Without hesitation, she followed Manager Gu.
True to her nature, Manager Gu stormed into Nan Kelin’s room like a thundercloud,
Nan Kelin, who had been seated on the couch, stood up in surprise, while Assistant Su visibly stiffened.
"Assistant Su!" Manager Gu’s voice rang out, sharp and unforgiving. "Who do you think you are, insulting my artist like that?"
Assistant Su’s face turned pale. "M-Manager Gu, why are you here?"
"Why am I here? I am here because you insulted my artist!" Manager Gu roared.
Assistant Su was so scared that she froze, however, her brain was still working so she hurriedly asked,
"What artist? I didn’t..."
Just then Yu Holea came inside and stepped beside Manager Gu.
In an instant, Assistant Su understood that Yu Holea was Manager Gu’s artist and she almost knelt down.
"I didn’t mean—"
"Didn’t mean?" Manager Gu cut her off, her tone slicing through the air like a blade.
"I’ve heard everything. Do you think you can disrespect Yu Holea and get away with it? You’re just an assistant. Your job is to support Mr. Nan, not act like a jealous, self-righteous fool!"
Assistant Su’s eyes welled up with tears, her lip trembling.
"I was just trying to protect Mr. Nan from being scammed," she stammered.
Manager Gu’s cold smile widened. "Scammed? You’re accusing my artist—Yu Holea, one of the most respected and talented people in this company—of being a scammer? Do you even understand who you’re talking about? If anyone here is embarrassing this company, it’s you, with your unprofessional behavior!"
Nan Kelin opened his mouth to intervene, but Manager Gu raised a hand, silencing him with a glance.
"And Mr. Nan," Manager Gu continued, her tone softer but still firm, "you’re too lenient. Allowing your assistant to run her mouth like this reflects poorly on you. I suggest you train her better before she causes more damage."
Assistant Su’s face crumpled as she sniffled, barely holding back her tears.
"I... I didn’t mean to cause any harm," she mumbled weakly.
Manager Gu’s eyes narrowed.
"Harm? Do you know how much harm you’ve already caused? Insulting an artist under my management isn’t just a mistake—it’s career suicide. If I report this to the higher-ups, do you think they’ll take your side?"
Yu Holea leaned against the doorframe, watching the scene with quiet amusement.
She could almost hear the gears turning in Assistant Su’s head as she panicked.
"I’m sorry, Manager Gu," Assistant Su finally choked out, her voice barely above a whisper. "I was wrong."
Manager Gu huffed, clearly unimpressed.
"You’re sorry? Prove it by staying in your lane from now on. If I hear one more word about this incident, I’ll make sure you’re reassigned to filing paperwork in the storage room.
Also, I am not the one whom you should apologize to. It should be my artist."
Assistant Su turned to Yu Holea, her face pale and lips trembling. She hesitated for a moment, then bowed slightly.
"I’m sorry, Miss Yu. I didn’t mean to insult you. I was wrong," she said, her voice barely audible.
Yu Holea raised an eyebrow but didn’t speak right away.
She crossed her arms and tilted her head as if considering whether the apology was sincere.
Manager Gu stepped in, her voice sharp.
"Holea, it’s up to you whether to accept this apology or not. But remember, we don’t have time for fake gestures."
Yu Holea uncrossed her arms and smiled faintly.
"Thank you for apologizing, Assistant Su. But next time, think twice before judging someone without understanding the full picture."
Assistant Su nodded quickly, her head still slightly bowed. "I’ll remember that."
Nan Kelin, who had been standing quietly the whole time, finally sighed.
"Assistant Su, I think you should take the rest of the day off. Reflect on your behavior and come back with a better attitude."
Assistant Su looked like she wanted to protest but bit her lip and nodded.
"Yes, Mr. Nan." She grabbed her things and hurried out of the room without looking back.
Manager Gu let out a satisfied huff, turning to Nan Kelin.
"Mr. Nan, I hope you understand how important it is to manage your staff properly. If incidents like this happen again, it won’t just be embarrassing for you—it’ll hurt your reputation."
Nan Kelin nodded, his expression serious.
"I understand, Manager Gu. I’ll handle it better next time. Thank you for stepping in."
Manager Gu’s stern expression softened slightly.
"Good. I hope this is the last time I have to deal with something like this."
She turned to Yu Holea and smiled.
"Let’s go. We have better things to focus on than wasting time with people like her."
Yu Holea smiled back and followed Manager Gu out of the room. As they walked down the hallway, Yu Holea couldn’t help but laugh softly.
"You were amazing, Manager Gu," she said.
Manager Gu smirked.
"That’s why I’m your manager. No one messes with my artists and gets away with it."
Yu Holea felt a hint of warmth in her heart.
Soon they reached Manager Gu’s office and signed the deal. Manager Gu as if remember something said,
"Oh, right. The CEO wants to meet you."
Yu Holea sighed and nodded.
Manager Gu instantly felt concerned and asked,
"Holea, is the CEO harassing you? Blink twice if you are in trouble. I will deal with him."
Yu Holea was amused and asked with a playful smirk,
"If he is, then what will you do?"
Manager Gu put on a righteous expression on her face and said, "I will beat him, quit this company, and help you break the contract too!"
Yu Holea laughed. Truly her manager was one in a million. She waved her hand,
"No need."
She knew why Qiao Jun was calling her in the office.
