Chapter 633: Adoption
Chapter 633: Chapter 633: Adoption
Everyone turned to see Leon, the handsome photographer, clutching his arm. A streak of red ran across his sleeve, and standing proudly beside him was the scruffy tabby cat, tail flicking as if it had just completed a noble mission.
"Ah! What the—" Leon exclaimed, staring at the tabby in disbelief. "Where did this cat come from?"
The crew gasped, some rushing forward with tissues and antiseptic.
Yu Holea’s lips twitched as she struggled to hold back a laugh.
Her eyes darted toward the entrance, where she spotted a familiar white cat peeking around the corner, its blue eyes gleaming with satisfaction.
"Qiao Jun," she muttered under her breath. "What have you done this time?"
The tabby cat, meanwhile, turned to Leon and let out a loud, victorious "Meow!" as if declaring, Mission accomplished, sucker.
Leon frowned, glancing at the tabby suspiciously. "What is this cat’s problem? I’ve never even seen it before!"
The tabby tilted its head innocently, then sauntered over to Qiao Jun, who was waiting outside.
The white cat handed the tabby its promised fish, and the two cats exchanged a conspiratorial nod.
"Though you didn’t scratch his face, I am still satisfied with your performance," Qiao Jun said smugly. "Now scram before anyone figures out your involvement."
The tabby munched on the fish happily.
"Pleasure doing business with you, boss. If you ever need someone scratched again, you know where to find me."
As the tabby disappeared down the alley, Qiao Jun strutted back into the studio with the air of a cat who had just outmaneuvered his competition.
Inside, Yu Holea was now fussing over Leon, handing him a tissue for his arm.
"Are you okay?" she asked, her tone polite but not overly concerned.
Leon gave her a sheepish smile.
"I’m fine. Just... bad luck, I suppose. That cat must’ve mistaken me for someone else."
Qiao Jun leaped onto a nearby table, positioning himself so he could observe the scene.
His tail swished irritably as he watched Yu Holea interact with Leon. He had hoped the scratch would send Leon packing, but the man was proving annoyingly resilient.
Leon glanced at Qiao Jun, then back at Yu Holea.
"You know, Miss Yu, if I didn’t know any better, I’d think your little companion here orchestrated this."
Yu Holea raised an eyebrow, casting a glance at Qiao Jun.
"Him? He’s just a cat. What could he possibly do?"
Leon chuckled.
"Maybe you’re right. But he’s got a certain... possessive aura about him. Almost like he’s guarding you."
Qiao Jun puffed up his chest at the indirect acknowledgment of his sovereignty, but Yu Holea simply shook her head with a bemused smile.
"He’s harmless," she said, though the glint in her eyes suggested she knew better.
The shoot resumed, but Qiao Jun made sure to plant himself squarely in Leon’s line of sight, his unblinking blue eyes silently warning the photographer to stay in his lane.
Leon, for his part, decided to focus solely on his work, though he couldn’t help but feel like he was being silently challenged by the most peculiar rival he’d ever encountered.
As the day wound down, Yu Holea gathered her things, her mysterious white cat trailing behind her like a shadow.
She bent down to scoop him up, cradling him in her arms as they walked toward the exit.
"You know," she murmured to Qiao Jun, her voice low so no one else could hear, "if you’re going to act like a jealous boyfriend, you might as well apologize properly."
Qiao Jun nuzzled her cheek in response, his purring louder than ever.
"You’re impossible," Yu Holea said with a soft laugh. "But... maybe that’s why I haven’t kicked you out yet."
After that incident, Yu Holea’s anger toward Qiao Jun reduced by a huge margin. Mainly because of how cutely he purred in his cat form.
(Author: If only men of real life can have this power, I bet there would be fewer fights!)
Yu Holea checked the internet and read the headline where the Yu Family was getting backlash, she was instantly worried.
Qiao Jun sensing her worry tapped on her arms as if asking why she was worried.
"What if they give up even before my revenge can come." Yu Holea muttered.
Truly all of her grand plans would fall apart if Yu Mei and Mr. Yu surrendered.
Qiao Jun used his superpower, and said,
"They won’t. With their thick skin that could rival the thickness of China Wall and steel heart that can rival the real steel, I bet they would be coming up with some other scheme."
Yu Holea chuckled. Well, Qiao Jun’s words were true to quite an extent.
On reaching the villa, Yu Holea stepped inside with Qiao Jun trailing right behind her, his white fur glistening under the soft lights of the entrance. She turned around and placed her hands on her hips, fixing him with a stern look.
"Alright, you’ve escorted me home. Now go back to wherever you’re staying," she said, her voice firm.
Qiao Jun, still in his cat form, stopped in his tracks. His ears drooped, and his mesmerizing blue eyes welled up with unshed tears as he looked up at her. He let out the tiniest, saddest meow, his tail swishing pitifully behind him.
Yu Holea sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. Why is he so ridiculously good at looking pitiful? she thought to herself. Finally, unable to resist his pleading gaze, she waved him in.
"Fine! But don’t make me regret this," she muttered, stepping aside to let him enter.
The white cat’s tail shot up triumphantly as he trotted inside, his purring loud and victorious.
Later that night, Yu Holea was in bed, scrolling through her phone and reading the latest updates about the Yu family’s public disgrace.
She was lost in thought when she felt a sudden weight on the edge of her bed.
She looked up to see Qiao Jun, still in his cat form, curling up near her pillow as if he belonged there.
"Seriously?" she said, sitting up. "You have an entire villa to roam around, and you choose my bed? Get down."
Qiao Jun ignored her, his tail flicking lazily as he nestled closer. Instead of moving, he reached out with his fluffy tail and gently wrapped it around her wrist, nudging her back down toward the bed.
Yu Holea groaned, rubbing her temples. "Why am I so soft-hearted when it comes to cats?"
Reluctantly, she laid back down, mumbling about boundaries and house rules.
No sooner had she done so than Qiao Jun suddenly transformed.
One moment, there was a fluffy white cat beside her; the next, there was Qiao Jun in his human form, his arms wrapping around her in a firm embrace. His sapphire-blue eyes, now brighter and more intense, locked onto hers with an unrepentant grin.
"Qiao Jun!" she exclaimed, her cheeks flushing. "What do you think you’re doing?"
Qiao Jun chuckled softly, his voice low and teasing. "I missed holding you like this. It’s been too long, Lea."
Yu Holea tried to wiggle free, but his hold was unyielding. "Let go, or I’ll kick you out for good."
"Don’t be mad," he murmured, leaning closer. "You know, if you’re willing, we could do a little... cat play for our first time."
Yu Holea froze, her mind taking a moment to process his words. When she finally understood, her face turned a vivid shade of red.
"You... you shameless pervert!" she hissed, swatting him on the chest.
Qiao Jun winced theatrically, rubbing the spot where she hit him. "Ow! It was just a suggestion. No need to get violent!"
"Get out!" she snapped, glaring at him.
"Okay, okay, I’m sorry," he said quickly, holding up his hands in mock surrender. "Forget I said anything. Let’s start over, alright?"
Yu Holea huffed, still glaring at him, but she stopped trying to push him away.
Qiao Jun smiled sheepishly and decided to change tactics.
"Can I at least kiss you goodnight?" he asked, his tone soft and imploring.
Yu Holea rolled her eyes. "And what exactly do I get in return for that?"
Without missing a beat, Qiao Jun waved his hand, and a sleek black card materialized in his palm.
He handed it to her with a flourish, his grin turning mischievous.
"How about this? I’ll transfer two million to you for every single day you let me stay by your side and serve you. Unlimited funds. No strings attached."
Yu Holea blinked, staring at the card in disbelief. "You’re bribing me now?"
"No." Qiao Jun shook his head and said with a pitiful expression, "This is the rent I pay for living in your villa. This is the least I can give for adopting me..."
"Adopting you? You’re not some stray I picked up off the street, Qiao Jun." Yu Holea crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow.
Qiao Jun’s sapphire eyes sparkled with mischief as he tilted his head, giving her his most innocent expression.
"But don’t I look like one? Homeless, unwanted, and hopelessly devoted to you? Sounds like the perfect candidate for adoption."
