Chapter 632: Tabby
Chapter 632: Chapter 632: Tabby
Later that day.
A flood of new posts and articles began circulating online, painting Qiao Jun as an overbearing and manipulative figure who had orchestrated the exposure of the water army to protect Yu Holea.
Headlines like "Qiao Jun: The Puppet Master Behind the Yu Family Drama?" and "Is Qiao Jun Exploiting His Power to Shield Yu Holea?" dominated the trending searches.
But this time, the public wasn’t so easily swayed.
Sharp-eyed netizens quickly noticed inconsistencies in the sudden narrative shift.
Many questioned why the Yu family was deflecting attention from their own actions instead of addressing the Water Army scandal.
One particularly damning post read:
"If Qiao Jun exposed the water army, then isn’t he just revealing the truth? Why are Mr. Yu and Yu Mei trying to vilify him instead of explaining themselves? Suspicious."
Another wrote:
"Funny how the Yu family is so quick to blame Qiao Jun. If they’re innocent, why not focus on clearing their own name instead of attacking him?"
The backlash was swift and brutal, with netizens calling out the Yu family’s transparent attempt to shift blame.
The hashtags turned against them once again:
#TheYuFamilyCannotBeTrusted
#YuMeiAndMrYu’sLies
#QiaoJunForTheWin
Mr. Yu coughed up blood seeing the hashtags while Yu Mei’s eyes darkened. She understood that using the public’s opinion, wouldn’t benefit them anymore.
At least with Qiao Jun on Yu Holea’s side, it won’t be easy to take her down.
With that thought Yu Mei suddenly had an idea.
.............................................
7 hours before.
Yu Holea got ready for her photoshoot.
During her movie shoot, Yu Holea snagged a few magazine photoshoots. Though they were not famous, she did an analysis and found out that some of them had the chance to shoot up to fame.
Hence she accepted those offers.
Exiting her villa, she saw a car parked right in front of her villa. Just then the door of the car was opened and a pure white cat with mesmerizing blue eye color came into her view.
The cat sensing Yu Holea’s gaze turned to her direction and gave a joyful smile.
Yu Holea’s heart melted.
Can she still afford to be angry with her ex-boyfriend who turned into a cat just to appease her?
Suppressing the urge to hug the cat, Yu Holea sat inside the car and waited for the cat to make a move.
As the white cat trotted gracefully into the car, its fluffy tail flicked with an air of confidence.
It leaped onto the seat beside Yu Holea and looked up at her with those captivating blue eyes, the hint of a mischievous glint in its gaze.
"Are you going to keep staring at me like that, or will you actually explain yourself?" Yu Holea asked, her tone sharp but softened by a touch of affection.
The cat tilted its head, then meowed melodiously, as if attempting to charm her further.
"Don’t give me that innocent act, Qiao Jun," Yu Holea said, crossing her arms. "Do you think I will forgive just because you have turned into a cat for me?"
The cat blinked, then, with a fluid movement, jumped onto her lap. It rubbed its head against her arm, purring loudly.
Yu Holea sighed, her resolve wavering. "You’re insufferable, you know that? "
The cat let out a soft chirp in response, its gaze now pleading. Yu Holea couldn’t help but chuckle.
"Fine, you win for now. But don’t think I’m letting this slide."
As the car began to move, Qiao Jun curled up contentedly on her lap, his purring a soothing background melody.
Upon arriving at the studio, Yu Holea stepped out of the car, carefully holding the white cat in her arms. The crew’s eyes immediately lit up at the sight of the elegant feline.
"Oh my goodness, Miss Yu! Is this your pet?" one of the assistants asked excitedly, reaching out to pet the cat.
"Not exactly," Yu Holea said, a mysterious smile on her lips. "He’s more of a... companion."
The cat purred in agreement, drawing coos from the onlookers.
The photo shoot was in full swing when the renowned photographer, a handsome man named Leon, arrived at the scene.
His sharp jawline and confident aura caught the attention of the crew, but it was Yu Holea’s beauty that left him utterly captivated.
The moment Leon laid eyes on her, he couldn’t help but blurt out,
"Miss Yu, I’ve worked with countless models, but your beauty is...beyond words. Truly divine."
Yu Holea smiled politely, brushing off the compliment with practiced ease.
"Thank you, Mr. Leon. You flatter me."
Leon wasn’t deterred. Throughout the shoot, he continued to praise her, his eyes filled with admiration.
"Your elegance is unmatched. The camera loves you, but I suspect it’s struggling to capture your true radiance."
Yu Holea felt a slight twinge of embarrassment, but she also noticed Qiao Jun—still in his cat form—watching from the corner of the room, his blue eyes narrowing.
During the break, Leon seized the opportunity to approach Yu Holea with a charming smile.
"Miss Yu, you’re incredibly talented. Are you free later? I’d love to take you to dinner—purely to discuss your potential in future projects, of course."
Before Yu Holea could respond, Qiao Jun leaped gracefully into her arms.
Without hesitation, he leaned forward and pressed his soft feline lips against her cheek in a bold peck.
Want to snatch his wifey away? Dream on! A smug grin appeared on Qiao Jun’s face as he looked at Leon.
The crew gasped.
"Aww, did that cat just now kiss Miss Yu? How cute!"
"Exactly! I wish I had such a cat too!"
Leon raised an eyebrow, a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"Well, it seems your charm works on cats as well. You’re truly enchanting, Miss Yu. But..." He winked.
"If this little guy is so smitten, imagine what I could do if you gave me a chance to showcase my charm."
Yu Holea stifled a laugh, her lips curling into a mischievous smile. "I’ll think about it."
Qiao Jun’s ears twitched.
Think about it.
The smug grin he had worn earlier vanished, replaced by a scowl. Jealousy flared within him, but he knew better than to lash out.
Yu Holea hadn’t forgiven him yet, and he didn’t have the right to act possessively.
Once again he cursed his past self for making such mistake.
If only he had much more clear minded at that time, would he still have to suffer now?
But what’s the use of regret? It can’t fix anything.
Instead, he decided to take matters into his own paws.
Qiao Jun slunk out of the venue, his keen eyes scanning the area until he spotted his target—a scruffy tabby cat lounging lazily near a dumpster.
"Hey, you," Qiao Jun called, his voice low and commanding.
The tabby cat looked up lazily. "What’s up, fluffball? You lost or something?"
"I have a job for you," Qiao Jun said, pulling out a piece of fresh, fragrant fish he had swiped earlier.
The tabby’s nose twitched, and it sat up, interested. "Go on..."
"There’s a man inside with the scent of this handkerchief," Qiao Jun explained, holding up the stolen fabric. "I want you to scratch him."
The tabby squinted at him. "Scratch him? You mean, like, on the face?"
"Yes, preferably somewhere visible," Qiao Jun replied with a sly grin.
The tabby let out a long sigh. "Listen, buddy, I get it. You’re jealous. But you’re a cat, she’s a human. This isn’t gonna work out, you know? Why not just move on?"
Qiao Jun bristled. "That’s none of your business. Will you do it or not?"
Today’s cat was truly too much meddlers.
The tabby shrugged.
"Fine, fine. But let me tell you, humans are a weird bunch. Just the other day, some guy forced me to deliver a bouquet to his crush. She rejected him, and guess who got yelled at? Me!"
Qiao Jun’s eyes narrowed. "Are you seriously comparing me to some hapless idiot? Do you know who I am?"
However he felt the scene of a cat getting scolded was truly...strange...
Anyways, he will never scold the tabby, if his Lea doesn’t go on a date with Leon.
The tabby yawned. "Nope. Don’t care. But if you’re offering that fish, I’ll take the job."
Qiao Jun exhaled sharply, resisting the urge to shift back into his human form and lecture the cat. "Good. Do it quickly and cleanly. If you fail, I’ll find someone else who can."
The tabby stood and stretched. "Relax, boss. I’ve got this."
To Qiao Jun’s surprise, the tabby saluted him with a paw before sauntering off with the handkerchief.
As the tabby disappeared into the building, Qiao Jun smirked. "Let’s see how charming you are with claw marks on your face, Leon."
Back at the shoot, Yu Holea noticed Qiao Jun’s absence but didn’t think much of it. She was too busy maintaining her composure as Leon continued his light flirtation.
Suddenly, a loud yelp echoed through the studio.
