"A blood ritual... It wasn’t something I understood at first, but it became clear as time went on.

Aunt Mila believed that by using her son’s blood, she could somehow transfer his power and essence into me."

Qiao Jun nodded.

"Exactly. She thought that if I awakened a powerful ability, it would mean her son’s legacy was living on in me.

The blood ritual wasn’t just about helping me gain strength—it was about turning me into her son’s reincarnation."

"I did, but they were dormant," Qiao Jun explained.

A dark energy that would try to take control of me time and time again. Whenever the darker energy took over me, I acted completely different from my usual self.

It was like possession. Sometimes, the dark energy would intensify the negative emotion in me resulting in me harming my loved ones.

The only method that I could come up with was to keep a distance from my family. At first, I was in pain, but gradually I stopped visiting them and built my own world far away from them.

At the age of 15, I had everything that I wished for. A successful company of my own, fame, wealth, health, and an amazing talent in superpower.

When I felt I could fight off the dark energy, I started to contact my family again. But still, I maintained a distance between myself and my family.

I was afraid. Afraid that one day I won’t be able to control the inner dark energy. My father thought I was frivolous.

Even when I completed my education early, my father felt I was an unfilial son because I used to stay away from him and the family.

My sister needed my protection at that time but I was too busy protecting them in silence, that I didn’t dare to step forward.
