Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All -
Chapter 565: Duel
Chapter 565: Chapter 565: Duel
"There was no problem for the first 5 minutes, but after that, everything went wrong," Qiao Heng said, his voice growing tense as he recalled the events.
"It started with strange little things. My phone stopped working, the GPS froze, and I suddenly felt this overwhelming sense of unease.
I tried to focus on the road, but just as we were passing an intersection, a truck came out of nowhere. It was too fast, and there was nothing I could do. We collided."
The room grew silent as everyone absorbed Qiao Heng’s words.
Qiao Li’s expression darkened, and Qiao Jun clenched his fists, trying to make sense of what had happened.
"It’s strange, Father," Qiao Li said, frowning.
"You’ve never had issues with driving before. It feels like something was working against you."
Mrs. Qiao looked worried, and Qiao Zirui was about to speak when Yu Holea suddenly interrupted, her eyes sharp and focused.
"Wait," she said, her voice cutting through the conversation.
"I think I know what’s going on here."
Everyone turned to look at her.
"Uncle Qiao," she began carefully, "the reason you had the accident wasn’t just bad timing or a coincidence. It was because you were shrouded in bad luck.
I noticed it earlier when I first walked into the room—you had dark energy clinging to you, like a cloud of misfortune. This kind of energy doesn’t just appear on its own."
Qiao Heng looked puzzled.
"Dark energy? But... how could that have happened?"
Yu Holea’s gaze flickered toward the door where Uncle Miller had left just moments ago.
"I believe someone transferred the bad luck to you. And the person who might have done that... is Uncle Miller."
Yu Holea thought the Qiao Family wouldn’t believe her.
After all, Uncle Miller had a very friendly aura around him. And the way he behaved, it was impossible to suspect him.
"Uncle Miller?" Qiao Li echoed. "Why would he...?"
"Because I had canceled the cooperation with his company." Qiao Jun told the truth.
"Why?" This time the question came from Qiao Heng’s end.
Though ending cooperation would result in a huge loss for Uncle Miller, Qiao Jun won’t be spared from the loss either.
And this loss won’t be in just tens of millions.
Qiao Jun pursed his lips.
Yu Holea suddenly asked softly,
"When did you cancel the cooperation?"
Qiao Jun felt even more guilty and looked away.
However, his little action was enough to make everyone suspicious.
"Brother Jun, its better if you answer. Otherwise... Lea might not talk with you at all." Qiao Li teased.
Qiao Jun blurted out,
"In the morning."
In the morning?
Didn’t Qiao Jun return today? What could Uncle Miller have done to offend him in just a few hours after his return?
Yu Holea could only reach one conclusion...Qiao Jun did it because of the recording she had sent him earlier.
She felt a bit sweet in her heart, but at the same time, she felt sad for her Uncle Qiao, who had to suffer because of her.
Turning towards Qiao Heng, Yu Holea bowed and said,
"I am sorry Uncle. Because of me, you got in an accident."
"Child, what are you doing? Hurry up and stand straight! And what are you talking about?" Qiao Heng was in distress when he saw Yu Holea bowing to him.
Yu Holea straightened up but kept her head slightly lowered, her voice soft and filled with guilt.
"Uncle, the reason you had this accident... it’s because of a misunderstanding between Uncle Miller and Jun.
I sent a recording to Jun this morning, and it must have triggered him to end the cooperation with Uncle Miller’s company. But I didn’t mean for any of this to happen."
Qiao Heng’s face softened, and he reached out, gently placing his hand on Yu Holea’s shoulder.
"Holea, you can’t blame yourself for this. No one could have predicted this outcome. If anyone’s to blame, it’s the bad energy surrounding Miller—not you.
By the way, what was the recording you sent to him?"
Qiao Heng was curious as to what could trigger his second son so much that he took such a drastic step.
"I deleted it." Yu Holea lied.
She recorded that audio in the first place to get some pity from Qiao Jun, not to create a huge gap between the Qiao Family and Vivian.
However, Qiao Jun played the recording instantly.
For some reason he wanted his family to know all the things Vivian was telling to Yu Holea.
Even though everyone hated Vivian for being mean to Yu Holea, they thought she would eventually solve the misunderstanding and become good to Yu Holea.
The main problem was the Qiao Family still felt that Vivian would turn over into a new life.
Qiao Jun wanted to completely change that opinion.
Once the recording started Yu Holea’s eyes widened and she hurriedly flicked a muting talisman on the phone, but Qiao Jun was one step faster, he created a barrier around himself, making the talismans unable to pass through.
Yu Holea tried to use her mystic energy but Qiao Jun easily dodged it too.
Glaring at Qiao Jun in anger, Yu Holea mouthed the words,
"Shut it down or else I will fight with you till the end!"
Qiao Jun just smirked, which irked Yu Holea a bit. His next words though completely provoked her,
"First at least learn to win against me."
Yu Holea’s eyes blazed with fury.
Was he looking down at her?
She loved him, but the mere thought of him looking down on her powers incensed her.
In the past 3 years, she had improved so much, while he was in a coma. Yu Holea could bet that she could easily beat him in his own game if a chance was given.
However for now she couldn’t do anything, and everyone heard the recording.
The Qiao Family was very angry hearing Vivian’s words. No one voiced out their thoughts but...everyone present just wanted to scold Vivian and teach her a lesson later.
Yu Holea could only pacify them by saying that she was fine and Vivian had already got her punishment.
She changed the subject to Qiao Heng and the Qiao Family members finally relented. At least that is what they presented in front of Yu Holea.
One by one everyone left. Mrs. Qiao was going to stay with Mr. Qiao and the remaining decided to retreat.
Once outside, Qiao Li received a phone call from her professor and could only leave for the time being,
Qiao Zixin took Qiao Zirui and Qi Zifei away, even though the two guys were reluctant to leave Yu Holea.
Yu Holea waved at them until they couldn’t be seen.
"Let’s talk on the rooftop." She said to Qiao Jun who was leaning on one of the walls.
Qiao Jun for some reason agreed.
In fact, he had his own little plans in his mind.
Yu Holea ignored Qiao Jun and used the elevator to go to the rooftop.
Once on the rooftop, the cool breeze did little to calm Yu Holea’s simmering anger.
"Why did you play the recording?" Yu Holea asked with a red face from anger.
She felt like a white lotus, who would deliberately send their fiance the wrong recording so that they could frame the innocent heroine in front of other family members.
Though Vivian wasn’t innocent, Yu Holea still felt a bit guilty.
Qiao Jun, leaning casually against the railing with his arms crossed, seemed unfazed by her anger.
In fact, he seemed to be enjoying it.
His lips curled into a small smirk as he met her glare head-on.
"You’re upset because you couldn’t stop me," he said, his voice calm but teasing.
"That’s the real issue, isn’t it?"
Yu Holea clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms.
"That’s not the point, and you know it! I tried to protect the situation, but you just—"
"You just weren’t strong enough," Qiao Jun interrupted smoothly. "That’s what really bothers you, isn’t it? You couldn’t stop me, so now you’re angry."
Yu Holea’s heart pounded with fury.
She cursed the fact that her Jun has really lost due to loss of memory.
How she wished that he could recall back his memories.
He would never provoke her in this way ever.
The worst part was...she was provoked.
She could feel it, the way he was pushing her buttons, almost daring her to react.
"Strong enough?" she repeated, her voice tight. "You think I’m not strong enough?"
Qiao Jun shrugged nonchalantly, but his eyes remained sharp.
"If you were, you would have stopped me back there. But you couldn’t. And deep down, you know it."
Yu Holea’s temper flared.
Her mystic energy crackled around her fingertips, swirling in the air.
She took a step closer to him, her gaze locked with his. "You really want to test me, don’t you?"
Qiao Jun’s smirk widened.
"Maybe I do."
