Qiao Jun’s heart ached when he heard the slight choking voice, his mind reacted on its own,

"Don’t cry. I didn’t mean to ignore you. I was about to call you even when I didn’t receive that recording."

Yu Holea’s eyes moistened and she said in an aggrieved voice,

"Even if you were busy you should have at least sent me a message. Why didn’t you send a message?"

Qiao Jun’s subordinate could hear Yu Holea’s words and the look they gave Qiao Jun slowly changed.

If looks could speak, Qiao Jun was sure he would hear the question, ’Why are you being so harsh to the lady? She is so sweet. You are truly a devil.’

Qiao Jun’s subordinate was indeed thinking so. They had seen Yu Holea’s dedication and how much Yu Holea sacrificed behind the scenes.

In front of everyone, Yu Holea didn’t visit Qiao Jun very often which painted her in a bad light.

"I...I left my phone at home and it wasn’t with me. Don’t cry, alright?" Qiao Jun didn’t even realize but his tone had softened and he seemed to consider his words carefully so as to not hurt Yu Holea anymore.

Yu Holea’s heart ached eased a little and she wiped away the slight tears formed at the end of her eyes.

"How about meeting for dinner?" Qiao Jun proposed.

In the past few days, all he could think of was Yu Holea.

What was she doing? Where was she? Did she have her dinner? Was she busy? Did she miss him?

All those questions would swirl in his mind.

To control his mind, he had deliberately put his phone in the City S.

To ensure he doesn’t have any other escape, he goes as far as locking everyone’s phone in a lock that would open only after 3 days.

All in all, he thought these steps would help him forget Yu Holea. But the reality gave him a tight slap on the face.

He became even more absent-minded.

After coming back from the trip the first thing that came to his mind was to contact Yu Holea but he became busy reading Yu Holea’s messages.

The more he read, the more his heart ached for Yu Holea.

Just as he was about to call her, he received a recording from her. Hearing his cousin’s disgusting words, Qiao Jun gnashed his teeth in anger.

He wanted to deal with Vivian right away, but soon her attention was shifted to a much more important person...Yu Holea.

The mere thought of her listening to all of that nonsense without retaliating made his heartache.

Yu Holea wiped the last of her tears, her heart still aching but now soothed by Qiao Jun’s softened tone.

"Okay," she agreed quietly, her voice still fragile but regaining strength. "Dinner sounds good."

On the other side of the phone, Qiao Jun exhaled in relief. He hadn’t realized just how much tension had built up in him until she agreed.

The thought of meeting her again sent a rush of anticipation through him, even though he still couldn’t fully explain why.

"When and where?" Yu Holea asked, her tone a bit firmer now. She didn’t want to appear too eager, but deep down, she missed him.

"I’ll send you the location," Qiao Jun replied quickly, eager to ensure that she wouldn’t back out.

"Let’s meet tonight at 7. I’ll make sure everything’s ready."

Yu Holea nodded, though he couldn’t see it. "Alright. I’ll see you tonight then."

Was that her signal to hang up?

Does she not want to talk with him?

That was it?

Qiao Jun was a bit disappointed.

"If you want to ask where I was and what I was doing you can do so."

Yu Holea paused for a second, the corner of her lips rose and she couldn’t stop herself from smiling.

Was this his way of asking her to continue the call?

Was he reluctant to hang up?

Yu Holea giggled and suddenly said,

"I don’t want to talk with people who forget their phone in City S."

Panic appeared in Qiao Jun’s eyes and he said hurriedly,

"I will not do it again!"

Yu Holea bit her lips to suppress the smile forming on her face and said,

"I want proof."

"I can swear." Qiao Jun proposed.

"Men are liars." Yu Holea continued.

Qiao Jun panicked for a moment, thinking she was still upset, but the teasing glint in her voice calmed him a little.

"I’m not lying!" he protested, his voice rising slightly in defense.

"What do you want me to do to prove it?"

Yu Holea, enjoying his reaction, leaned into the playful banter.

"Hmm, I’m not sure a simple promise is enough," she teased her voice light but with an edge of challenge.

"I think I’ll need something more concrete."

Qiao Jun furrowed his brow, genuinely trying to think of what he could do.

"Alright... How about this: I’ll carry my phone with me at all times for the next month. No excuses. And I’ll send you a message every day to prove it. How does that sound?"

Yu Holea couldn’t help but laugh softly at his serious proposal.

The way he was treating her request with such urgency made her heart soften even more.

Was this still the same guy who proposed to break off the engagement just a few days ago?

However, Qiao Jun’s words assured her. Even though Qiao Jun has lost his memories, he still retains the same gentleness he had.

A message every day was still good.

"Fine. I will hang up for now. I have to start the shoot." Yu Holea said softly.

Qiao Jun felt even more reluctant.

For a moment he even wanted to ask her who was most important to her, him or the shooting.

But he held the impulse.

A part of him even felt aggrieved.

For some reason, a scene flashed in his mind.

In the scene, Yu Holea was hugging him and telling him how much she had missed.

His heart which was dead for the past 2 days, suddenly skipped a beat.

It was as if this was indeed what should have happened.

She should have hugged him and told him that she missed him. Then he would have hugged her back and told her that he missed her.

What was he thinking?

"Cancel the cooperation with my Uncle."

"Which Uncle?"

"Uncle Miller." Qiao Jun’s eyes were cold when he said his uncle’s name. "If some people can still jump after this blow, go and expose the plastic surgeries they have done till now."
