Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All
Chapter 492: Mask Ceremony

Chapter 492: Chapter 492: Mask Ceremony

The goddess froze.

Yu Holea looked at the goddess and asked,

"Why didn’t you punish them before? Why did you wait so long before punishing them like this?"

Thanks to the ghosts she had stationed, Yu Holea got to know many things.

Many wrong deeds that Sister Phoenix had done earlier. Sabotaging plans they had conducted, the innocent lives they have taken till now just to inherit the power of the goddess, and most importantly...the goddess’s leniency...

"I don’t think you are the type of person who is ignorant. Then why? Why did you wait so long before punishing them?" Yu Holea asked.

The goddess stood up and said,

"I have some work to deal with. I will leave for now. I hope that Candidate Yu will take my word into consideration and take those ghosts back."

Yu Holea watched silently as the goddess left. She didn’t stop her.

However, she understood one thing.

The goddess city wasn’t as simple as it looked.

Why even though the phoenix-masked woman who was so arrogant and cruel received a phoenix mask...

Why even though they have done such cruel deeds, they don’t have any black qi around them.

And most importantly...why do the candidates seem so stupid when in reality they should be smart...

.............

The next day.

Yu Holea stayed at her villa.

Since the top 9 candidates were punished, there would be no one in the grand mansion except for their knight and the assistants.

Just as Yu Holea was busy studying, her doorbell rang.

When she opened the door, she saw Lira who was dressed a bit differently.

Usually, Lira would wear some casual clothes but today she was wearing a plain white chinese robe.

Her hairs were tied into a ponytail and she looked much more energetic.

"Good morning my lady."

"Good morning."

Without waiting for Yu Holea to ask, Lira announced,

"My lady, please get ready. You will be assigned your mask today."

"Didn’t you say that only in the presence of the 9 candidates could I get my mask?" Yu Holea questioned.

"Yes, my lady. This is indeed the rule. But there is another rule and it states that if the candidate is not assigned a mask within a week, then the candidate has the right to get their mask without the presence of the 9 candidates."

Yu Holea paused and nodded,

"Do I have to make some preparations?"

"No my lady but there are some questions that you will need to answer me," Lira said with an embarrassed expression.

"Go ahead."

"Um..that...are you on your period?"

Yu Holea was stunned.

She never expected Lira to ask such a question. Her face couldn’t help but turn red.

After much hesitation, she nodded.

"Yes." Her voice was so low that, it almost sounded like a whisper.

Just yesterday, after reaching her villa, Yu Holea felt a familiar ache in her

Lira’s face changed and she instantly held Yu Holea’s hand,

"Are you having any cramps? My lady don’t go near cold water, it is not good for your health!"

Yu Holea felt even more embarrassed and said,

"But what is the relation between my periods and getting my mask assigned."

"Um...that...during your period, you can’t get your mask."

Yu Holea froze and asked with confusion,

"Why?"

She had heard some feudal superstition about how during their periods girl shouldn’t visit any holy place.

It was so absurd that Yu Holea wanted to beat the person who had made that bullsh*t.

As a person who has read many verses related to god, Yu Holea understood one thing.

God gives everything that human has whether it is wealth, fame, or health.

This also includes even the body in which a soul is residing.

So what if a person is black or white? So what if a person is healthy or slim? So what if a person is ugly or pretty?

The supreme one who has given all of these things doesn’t feel disgusted, so who are humans to judge them?

Period is one of the few precious things, given by god. If he feels disgusted by it, why would he even create it in the first place?

Lira seemed to understand Yu Holea’s frustration and confusion.

"It’s not about superstition or anything like that," she said gently.

"The reason you can’t get your mask during your period is more practical and somewhat mystical.

The mask binds to your soul, and during your period, your energy flow is different. The binding process could go wrong, leading to severe consequences."

Yu Holea sighed, the initial embarrassment giving way to curiosity.

"Severe consequences? Like what?"

Lira hesitated before answering,

"The mask might not bind properly, causing a disruption in your spiritual energy. It could lead to anything from minor discomfort to severe health issues or even... death."

Yu Holea nodded.

"So Miss Yu, let’s wait till your periods are over, before continuing with the mask ceremony."

"Okay."

A few days flashed by and when Yu Holea’s periods were over, Lira along with Sir Aldric led Yu Holea to a tower.

The tower was in bronze color and had some strange runes engraved on it. What was even more attractive was the calm and peace the tower was radiating.

"Beautiful." Yu Holea whispered.

Sir Aldric and Lira smiled when they heard Yu Holea’s whisper.

They entered the tower, and Yu Holea was guided through a series of corridors until they reached a large, ornate door.

"This is it," Lira said softly.

"Beyond this door is the chamber where you will receive your mask."

Yu Holea nodded, her heart pounding.

Sir Aldric pushed the door open, revealing a spacious room bathed in a soft, ethereal light.

The room was filled with ancient symbols and artifacts, and in the center stood a pedestal with a blank mask resting on it.

The goddess was already there. Her aura was relatively calm as compared to other times.

She nodded at Yu Holea, a faint smile on her lips.

"Welcome, Candidate Yu. Are you ready to receive your mask?" the goddess asked.

On the way Lira had already told Yu Holea about the goddess’s presence, so she wasn’t shocked.

"Yes, I am ready," She replied.

The goddess approached the pedestal and gently lifted the blank mask,

"This blank mask is just like clothes. It depends on who wears it. According to the person’s aura, it will define how others will look at you. Don’t you think?"

Yu Holea frowned and didn’t answer.

"Candidate Yu, when I ask you a question, I expect an answer in return." The goddess’s voice was still gentle but Lira suddenly kneeled, representing how pressure the goddess’s words were carrying.

Yu Holea took a deep breath and said,

"I disagree."

"Oh? How so?" The goddess asked. Her tone was laced with curiosity. If only...the pressure didn’t increased in the room, Yu Holea would have thought that the goddess was truly curious.

It was clear that the goddess wanted her to agree.

However, Yu Holea had her own perspective.

"I believe a mask, just like clothes, does not define who we are but rather reveals facets of our true selves," Yu Holea said firmly.

"It may influence how others perceive us, but it cannot change our core essence. A person’s true nature, their soul, is what ultimately shapes their actions and destiny."

The goddess’s eyes narrowed slightly, the pressure in the room intensifying.

Lira remained kneeling, her head bowed low. Sir Aldric stood stoically, his expression unreadable.

The goddess studied Yu Holea for a moment, and then the pressure eased.

"Interesting perspective," she said softly, a faint smile playing on her lips. "Very well, Candidate Yu. You may proceed."

Yu Holea heaved a sigh of relief and approached the pedestal. Her heart was pounding loudly.

"Wear this mask. Once you put on this mask, you need to clear your thoughts. The mask will automatically turn into an animal or bird mask.

Remember you need to keep your mind clear." The goddess explained.

"Okay." Yu Holea nodded.

Yu Holea took the blank mask from the goddess, feeling its smooth surface cool against her fingers. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath to steady her nerves.

Slowly, she raised the mask to her face and secured it in place.

The world around her seemed to dim, and she felt a strange sensation wash over her as if the mask was merging with her very being.

Yu Holea concentrated on clearing her mind, pushing away the whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.

For a few moments, nothing happened.

Then, she felt a warm, comforting energy envelop her. The mask began to change, molding itself to her essence.

She felt a connection deep within her soul as if the mask was reading her true self and transforming accordingly.

When the sensation subsided, Yu Holea opened her eyes. The room seemed brighter and much warmer.

Yu Holea could swear that she never felt so free in her entire life.

However...
