Chapter 484: Phoenix Mask
Chapter 484: Chapter 484: Phoenix Mask
"What authority?" Sister Phoenix asked warily.
Yu Holea slowly descended from the air like a fairy and said with a chuckle,
"The Ultimate Authority to make a judgment on any matter that happens in the goddess city. This was granted to me when I gained acknowledgment from the heavens!
So I am sorry for not informing you all, that I am your new administrator. "
"You...you must be lying!" Sister Phoenix stammered, desperately trying to regain control. "The heavens wouldn’t grant such power to someone like you!"
Yu Holea smirked, her eyes gleaming with a cold light.
"Believe what you want, but it won’t change the truth.
The heavens have acknowledged my abilities, and with it, I have the authority to deal with any threats to our community."
The lion-masked woman, who had been quietly observing the exchange, stepped forward hesitantly.
"Miss Yu... is it true? Do you really have this authority?"
Yu Holea nodded.
"Yes."
Sister Phoenix’s bravado shattered. She fell to her knees, her voice trembling.
"No! No! No! I can’t die!"
Yu Holea raised her hand, the blue energy ball glowing brighter.
"Sister Phoenix, for your crimes, I sentence you to death."
Whoosh.
The blue light hit Sister Phoenix before she could even react.
Sister Phoenix tried to defend but found her energy was shackled.
"No!"
She could only watch helplessly as the ball neared her.
Bam.
The blue ball hit Sister Phoenix’s head and sent her flying to a wall. But that was not all. The blue ball instead of disappearing, slowly burnt Sister Phoenix’s body.
"Ahhhhhhh! Help me! Help me! Please!"
Yu Holea stood there calmly,
"Sister Phoenix, I hope you will meet all those people who you have harmed till now."
Till the end sister phoenix couldn’t believe that she died at the hands of Yu Holea.
Soon Sister Phoenix turned into ashes, however, Yu Holea didn’t move away.
"Sister Phoenix...is she truly...dead?"
"My god! She killed sister phoenix so ruthlessly! She won’t leave us too!"
"No! Go and ask for help from the Goddess! We can’t defeat her! She killed sister Phoenix in one move! She is a monster!"
Panic spread through the warehouse as the candidates realized the true extent of Yu Holea’s power. Fearful whispers and frantic glances filled the room as they contemplated their next move.
The swan-masked woman was shocked, seeing how ruthless Yu Holea was.
She thought Sister Phoenix was the most cruel person, but now she thinks Yu Holea is much more cruel.
Anyhow. She was in an advantageous position!
As long as she could deal with Yu Holea, she would be able to become the goddess.
"Miss Yu, please have mercy on us!" the lion-masked woman pleaded, her voice shaking. "We were only following Sister Phoenix’s orders! We didn’t know the full extent of her plans!"
Yu Holea’s cold gaze swept over the candidates, her expression unyielding. "Ignorance is no excuse. You all participated in the forbidden ritual, knowing it was dangerous. However, I am willing to show leniency if you prove your loyalty and repentance."
The candidates exchanged nervous glances, their fear palpable. They knew they had no choice but to comply with Yu Holea’s demands.
"What... what do you want us to do?" the swan-masked woman asked cautiously.
Yu Holea’s eyes softened slightly.
"Swear your loyalty to me and vow never to engage in forbidden magic again. If you do, I will consider sparing your lives."
The candidates hesitated for a moment before falling to their knees, one by one.
"We swear our loyalty to you, Miss Yu," they chorused, their voices trembling with fear and desperation.
"We vow never to engage in forbidden magic again."
Anyways, now that the phoenix-masked woman was gone, they wouldn’t be able to do any forbidden magic even if they wanted to.
Yu Holea nodded, satisfied with their submission.
"Very well. Remember this day and let it serve as a reminder of the consequences of your actions."
In the back of her head, Yu Holea thought that it was indeed good that they vowed right away.
If they knew...
As the candidates rose to their feet, the lion-masked woman stepped forward once more.
"Miss Yu, what should we do now? How can we atone for our mistakes?"
Yu Holea didn’t answer.
She knew that lion-masked woman was just trying to butter her but...
Yu Holea stared at the phoenix mask that was lying in the ashes and a smile appeared as she said,
"Don’t rush. Wait for a few minutes."
Everyone present was confused. They glanced at each other, wondering what Yu Holea could possibly be waiting for.
The lion-masked woman furrowed her brow, her curiosity piqued. "What do you mean, Miss Yu?"
Yu Holea’s smile widened slightly, but she didn’t offer any further explanation.
Instead, she continued to focus on the spot where Sister Phoenix had been incinerated.
As the ancient says everything has a reason of its own...
Suddenly, a soft, almost imperceptible hum filled the room. The candidates looked around, trying to identify the source of the sound.
"What’s happening?" the swan-masked woman whispered, her voice tinged with fear.
"I don’t know," the lion-masked woman replied, her eyes darting around the room.
Just then, the phoenix mask, which had been lying amidst the ashes, began to glow. A faint, fiery light emanated from it, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The candidates gasped in unison, their eyes widening in disbelief.
"Look! The mask!" someone exclaimed, pointing at the glowing artifact.
The phoenix mask slowly floated into the air, its glow intensifying. The candidates watched in stunned silence, their fear momentarily forgotten as they were captivated by the surreal sight.
"How is this possible?" one of the candidates murmured, unable to tear their eyes away from the spectacle.
The mask hovered above the ashes, spinning slowly. The fiery light surrounding it grew brighter, enveloping the entire warehouse in an otherworldly glow. The candidates shielded their eyes, the intensity of the light almost blinding.
"What is this magic?" the lion-masked woman asked, her voice barely audible over the hum.
The light from the mask suddenly exploded outward, filling the room with a blinding brilliance.
The candidates cried out in shock, covering their eyes to protect themselves from the searing light.
When the light finally subsided, they lowered their hands, blinking rapidly to adjust their vision.
What they saw left them speechless.
Standing amidst the ashes was Sister Phoenix, her body whole and unscathed. She looked exactly as she had before.
Her eyes carried resentment.
The phoenix mask was now back on her face, its glow fading as it settled into place.
"Sister Phoenix... is she truly... alive?" one of the candidates whispered, disbelief evident in their voice.
"W-What is happening?" The swan-masked woman asked with surprise.
Just now she thought that she was finally able to get rid of Sister Phoenix, but her dream was shattered even before she could be happy.
Yu Holea calmly looked at Sister Phoenix and explained,
"It’s because of the mask. Do you know about the bird phoenix? Since the ancient times, there has been a saying.
When a phoenix dies, it burns into ashes and is reborn from those same ashes. The phoenix mask holds the same power.
As long as she possesses it, Sister Phoenix can revive herself after death."
In fact, only a certain number of times the mask can be used. But she wasn’t going to tell it to others.
The candidates stared in awe and horror as Sister Phoenix stood there, her fiery aura slowly dissipating.
They had thought they were free from her tyranny, only to find out that their nightmare was far from over.
Sister Phoenix’s eyes blazed with rage and humiliation.
"Yu Holea! Do you think you can defeat me so easily? I will make you pay for this!"
However, in her heart, she was shocked as to how Yu Holea knew about the mask’s power.
Yu Holea didn’t flinch.
"You can try, Sister Phoenix, but remember, I have the authority of the heavens on my side. You may have been reborn, but so has the judgment against you."
Sister Phoenix let out a scream of fury, her hands crackling with energy as she prepared to attack.
The candidates scrambled back, fearing the clash of these titanic powers.
But before Sister Phoenix could unleash her fury, Yu Holea raised her hand.
A barrier of shimmering light appeared between them, absorbing the energy from Sister Phoenix’s attack.
"You won’t win by brute force," Yu Holea said calmly.
"You must accept the consequences of your actions."
Sister Phoenix’s eyes narrowed, but she didn’t attack again. Instead, she seemed to be contemplating her next move, her mind working furiously.
The cat-masked woman, still reeling from the shock of Sister Phoenix’s resurrection, stepped forward cautiously.
"Miss Yu... is there no way to permanently stop her?"
Yu Holea turned her gaze to the swan-masked woman.
She was such a good friend.
Still thinking about how to finish her friend in one blow...
