Ghost Exorciser: Is Loved By All
Chapter 464: Gu Li

Chapter 464: Chapter 464: Gu Li

"As far as I know she would at most scold her." Yu Sicong said with uncertainty.

"Wrong." Yu Holea shook her head.

Yu Holea’s eyes narrowed at Yu Sicong’s uncertain response.

She took a deep breath, trying to keep her composure as she prepared to reveal the harsh reality they seemed oblivious to.

"Scold her?" Yu Holea’s voice dripped with sarcasm.

"If only it were that simple. Your grandmother does far worse than just scolding her. She tortures her. Physically and emotionally."

Yu Shuchang’s face paled.

"Tortures? What do you mean, Lea? You’re not making any sense."

Yu Holea stood up, pacing the room as she spoke, her voice rising with each word.

"You want specifics? Fine. She locks her in the storage room for hours without food or water. She makes her kneel on hard surfaces for extended periods.

She verbally abuses her, calling her worthless and blaming her for everything that goes wrong in this family."

The room fell into a stunned silence.

The brothers exchanged horrified glances, struggling to process what they were hearing.

"Lea, are you sure about this?" Yu Sile asked, his voice barely a whisper.

"I mean, how do you know all this?"

Yu Holea stopped pacing and turned to face them, her eyes blazing with anger.

"I found out the hard way."

In fact, when she picked up Mrs. Yu, Yu Holea was curious about what all she had suffered.

It was fine if she didn’t see it. Once she did Yu Holea was shocked.

Mrs. Yu may seem like a happy wife who doesn’t understand the cruelty of the world.

However, the truth was Old Madam Yu always punished Mrs. Yu, whenever she was dissatisfied or angry.

Yu Holea could even notice that Old Madam Yu doesn’t like Mrs. Yu.

What made Yu Holea doubtful was, how Mrs. Yu didn’t have a memory of her childhood, there were also some disconnected memories that Yu Holea couldn’t see clearly.

It was also a thing that confused Yu Holea. Didn’t she have the power to look into someone else’s past? So why can’t she see Mrs. Yu’s complete memory?

"So why didn’t she tell us the truth?" Yu Sile asked as he scratched his head.

Coming out of her daze, Yu Holea glared at the Yu Brothers and said,

"Do you think she would ever tell you? She didn’t want to ruin your image of your precious grandmother."

Yu Sicong looked devastated, guilt washing over his face.

"We had no idea, Lea. We thought... we thought she was just strict. We never imagined—"

"That’s the problem," Yu Holea interrupted, her voice sharp.

"You never imagined. You never bothered to look beyond the surface. You’ve been blind to her suffering because it was convenient for you. Because it allowed you to maintain this perfect image of your family."

Yu Shuchang clenched his fists, his anger now directed at himself.

"How could we have been so ignorant? How could we let this happen under our noses?"

"That’s a question you need to ask yourselves," Yu Holea said, her tone softer but still firm.

"But right now, we need to focus on what we’re going to do about it. She needs our support, not just empty promises."

Yu Holea felt lucky. At least she was never abused like Mrs. Yu. Or god knows who she would be able to survive with her fragile body!

Yu Sicong clenched his fist, Yu Sile and Yu Shuchang too had an ugly expression.

They never liked their grandmother. The reason was pretty simple.

She only had eyes for Yu Mei.

She would pamper her to the skies! And even ask them to pamper her.

It wasn’t like they never suffered. Their grandmother would make things difficult for them time and time again.

But since the violence was limited to them they never raised a voice against her.

Not to mention, they always thought that even though their grandmother was punishing their mother, it was for their mother’s benefit.

Now thinking about how it was just a way for their grandmother to vent her anger, the Yu Brother was filled with fighting intent.

If possible they wanted to fight with their grandmother and put her in jail.

Yu Holea turned to leave and happened to see the ghost of the young man she had previously met.

He was looking at them as if he was enjoying some show.

Yu Holea’s lips twitched and she motioned him to follow her when he looked in her direction.

The young man was instantly excited and followed behind Yu Holea.

Yu Holea rolled her eyes when she how excited he looked. Did he think that she was going to tell him some gossip?

It was okay if Yu Holea didn’t think like that, but once she did, she realized that the young ghost was indeed expecting that from her!

Yu Holea and the ghost arrived in her room.

Before the young ghost could ask anything, Yu Holea stopped him and asked,

"First tell me your and your sister’s name."

Last time even though they had a good chat, she forgot to ask his name.

"My name is Gu Li," he said with a slight bow, showing a hint of old-fashioned manners.

"And my sister’s name is Gu Mei. "

Yu Holea nodded and continued to ask.

"Okay so now tell me about your story."

Gu Li perked up.

Last time when he didn’t get the chance to tell his story he was quite sad.

Now that he got the opportunity to tell his story again, he vowed to not put on airs,

"So it’s like this. Before this mansion was built, my family used to live here. We dealt in some shady business..."

Gu Li looked a bit uncomfortable when he said those words and Yu Holea encouraged him to continue.

"We dealt in some shady business, things that wouldn’t be looked upon kindly in today’s world.

My father was a merchant, but he dabbled in dark arts to gain an advantage over his competitors. He wasn’t an evil man, but his ambition led him down a dangerous path."

Yu Holea listened intently, her curiosity piqued.

Dark arts? Did he mean black magic? Or disturbing the Feng Shui of other’s business?

Well, that is one of the most common practices Yu Holea had heard.

They may give you benefits but in the long term, they have their own side effects.

"My sister, Gu Mei, and I were very close. She was a gentle soul, always trying to keep our father from going too far.

But one day, our father’s rivals found out about his dealings and decided to take revenge. They attacked our home, setting it ablaze. Gu Mei and I tried to escape, but we were caught in the flames."

Gu Li’s eyes grew distant as he recalled the traumatic event.

"In his desperation, our father performed a forbidden ritual to save us. He bound our spirits to this place, hoping to keep us safe.

But the ritual was flawed. Instead of saving us, it trapped our spirits here, bound to protect the mansion and its inhabitants."

He still remembered how shocked and regretful his father looked.

With tears streaming down his cheeks he begged them for forgiveness.

Yu Holea frowned.

"So you’re saying that your spirits are bound to protect this place? Why didn’t you try to escape?"

She was wondering as to why someone was willing to protect a mansion that didn’t even belong to them.

Gu Li shook his head.

"We couldn’t. The binding was too strong. And over time, we grew attached to this place. It became our home, in a way.

We found some solace in protecting those who lived here, even if we couldn’t always prevent their suffering."

"Did you ever try to break the ritual?" Yu Holea asked.

Her heart couldn’t help but ache.

How difficult it is for a person to be trapped in a place for such a long time. They should have tried to leave right?

"Many times," Gu Li said with a sad smile.

"But the magic that bound us was ancient and powerful. We eventually accepted our fate, hoping that one day someone would come along who could help us."

Yu Holea nodded.

Gu Li looked at Yu Holea with burning eyes.

"In the past few decades, no one could detect our presence, let alone look see us."

Yu Holea understood Gu Li’s words and promised him,

"As long as you can help me deal with some stuff, I will help you reverse the bound."

"Really?" Gu Li was filled with excitement.

"Really." Yu Holea said with a smile.

"If you lie you will be a puppy!" Gu Li said quickly.

Yu Holea: "..." Well...I seem to have encountered a problem...

Gu Li seems a bit immature. But that was okay, she could slowly help him become mature.

"Okay." Yu Holea agreed.

She hasn’t dealt with Yu Mei yet and could understand that the reason Yu Sicong was able to escape Yu Mei’s influence so quickly was mainly because of Gu Li.
