Chapter 104: Mocking
Chapter 104: Chapter 104: Mocking
After some thought, she said,
"Li, he has saved our Zirui, we should treat him to a meal, right?"
"Yes!"
Qiao Li felt that Yu Holea was right, it was too impolite of them to not treat Jiang Lei a meal after he has done so much for them.
Jiang Lei blushed and said,
"No! No! No need."
Just then his friends came over.
There was a total of 7 people.
3 girls and 4 boys.
All of them looked as if they were in their sophomore year.
One of the girls asked Jiang Lei,
"Lei who are they?"
There was a faint hostility in her tone.
Jiang Lei looked at his friends and then at Yu Holea and Qiao Li, trying to find the right words to explain the situation.
Jiang Lei said,
"These are... new acquaintances I met here. They were kind enough to invite me for a meal as a token of gratitude."
The girl who had spoken earlier raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical of Jiang Lei’s explanation,
"Oh really? It seems quite convenient that you happen to meet them and get treated to a meal. Are you sure there’s no other reason?"
Her eyes kept on darting between Yu Holea and Jiang Lei as if she was suspecting something.
Jiang Lei felt a bit uncomfortable with the suspicion in her tone, but he remained composed.
Yu Holea ignored the girl and asked Jiang Lei,
"How about I read your fortune? I have good divination skills."
After all, she can’t tell someone about their fate without them asking.
Jiang Lei was stunned hearing Yu Holea’s words.
He hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to respond to Yu Holea’s offer.
He glanced at his friends, who seemed equally intrigued by the idea of having their fortunes read.
Not that they truly believe in divination but who would be willing to miss out on the chance to have fun?
After all, even though they don’t believe in ghosts, aren’t they going to explore the graveyard?
After a brief pause, Jiang Lei nodded and said,
"Sure, why not? I’m curious to see what you have to say."
Yu Holea smiled faintly and said,
"Please show your right hand."
Before Jiang Lei could move his hand, the girl asked,
"Why?"
"I can perform palm reading to gain insights into his future." Yu Holea calmly replied.
Jiang Lei, intrigued by the idea, nodded in agreement.
The skeptical girl, however, couldn’t help but scoff.
"Palm reading? Seriously?" she remarked with a mocking tone. "You’re going to tell us our entire life stories just by looking at our hands? That’s a bit far-fetched, don’t you think?"
Yu Holea acted as if the girl doesn’t exist and looked at Jiang Lei’s palm.
Jiang Lei’s lifeline was short however because of the good deed, he had done so far, his line was getting extended.
However, it was clear that if he visited the graveyard, he will definitely die.
And if he stays away from ghosts, demons, or any negative energy, Jiang Lei will have a long life and good fortune.
So Yu Holea didn’t hesitate and said,
"Are you going to visit any cemetery or graveyard?"
Jiang Lei was shocked and nodded.
Yu Holea’s expression turned serious as she continued to analyze Jiang Lei’s palm.
"I must warn you," she said in a concerned tone, "going to the graveyard might put you in grave danger. Your lifeline suggests that you have the potential for a long life and good fortune, but if you venture into places with negative energy, it could have dire consequences."
Jiang Lei’s friends exchanged glances, their curiosity piqued by Yu Holea’s words.
The skeptical girl’s mocking demeanor wavered as she listened intently.
"Negative energy? Are you talking about ghosts and stuff?" one of Jiang Lei’s friends asked, half-jokingly.
Yu Holea nodded and continued with a solemn expression,
"Yes so don’t go, otherwise you will die."
Her voice was laced with seriousness.
Jiang Lei and his friend were instantly frightened.
Yu Holea’s expression remained serious as she delivered her warning about the potential danger of visiting graveyards.
However, not all of Jiang Lei’s friends were convinced by her words. One of them, a skeptical and dismissive friend, scoffed at her and responded with mean-spirited words.
"Are you serious?" the skeptical friend sneered, a mocking smirk playing on their lips.
"You expect us to believe that nonsense? Palm reading and ghosts? Come on, this is ridiculous!"
"Yeah! Lei, I think she is trying to scam you."
One of them even asked,
"Don’t say that you are now going to sell those yellow papers..."
"Talisman" Yu Holea corrected the person.
But the person only said,
"Whatever."
The girl who was mocking Yu Holea till now said,
"Lei I think she has heard our conversation before and now she is trying to scam some money by asking you to buy Talisman. See she will now ask you to buy talismans for sure!"
Jiang Lei was instantly hesitant when he saw a yellow paper in Yu Holea’s hand.
It wasn’t like he wanted to doubt Yu Holea, however, it was totally illogical to believe someone who would come and tell you that you will die.
Their words carried a mocking tone, causing Yu Holea’s brows to furrow slightly.
She was able to understand why they were so skeptical but she still said calmly,
"My divination is never wrong. Even if you want to explore the graveyard, it is better if you take 10 talismans with you. Or otherwise, your death will the consequence because of your impulsive decision."
Saying so Yu Holea showed him talismans.
The reason why she was convincing him was because he has saved Qiao Zirui, not to mention he was related to Jiang Wei.
The skeptical friend rolled their eyes and let out a disdainful chuckle.
"Please! This is just a cheap trick to scare us. I don’t buy into this superstitious nonsense. Let’s go, Jiang Lei. We’re wasting our time here."
