Chapter 1964: I'm Here to Save You
"Pfftt!"
But the next moment, the middle-aged man suddenly spewed a mouthful of blood.
Immediately after, he collapsed heavily to the ground, losing his breath.
The Cult Leader reappeared in the middle-aged man's field of vision.
"It's useless!" he muttered under his breath. Then, he turned to his companions and said, "Next one!"
"Alright... alright!" The elder knew the first person had already failed, so he quickly ran to the cage's location, not wasting any time, and pulled out the second person.
However, the second person met the same fate as the first one, coughing up blood and dying in the end.
As time passed, there were fewer and fewer people inside the cage, with seven people having died at the hands of the Cult Leader.
At this moment, the Cult Leader's mood became very restless. After all, he had tried seven times, but he had not succeeded yet. He was genuinely worried that his resurrection might fail this time. If it did fail, he might have to wait for several decades again.
After all, gathering so many people with the right constitution for resurrection was not an easy task.
Just then, the elder once again walked up to the cage and frowned when he saw that there were only three people left inside. He said, "All three of you come out!"
The young man and the little girl sat still, their bodies trembling uncontrollably, as if they dared not leave the cage.
Taran hesitated for a moment, then stood up and walked out without a word.
When the Cult Leader saw that Taran was the one who came out, his expression became somewhat strange. After all, among so many people, he only knew Taran. The others were all meeting the Cult Leader for the first time.
"It seems we can only place our hopes on you now!" the Cult Leader said in a low voice to him.
After hearing his words, Taran hesitated for a moment and then said softly, "If you can really use my body for your resurrection, I hope you can promise me one thing."
"What is it?" the Cult Leader asked.
"Help me kill someone."
"Who?"
"Someone named Yamino Gomez. Everything I have become today is because of him. I hope you can help me kill him," he said in a low voice.
After hearing this, the Cult Leader couldn't help but laugh out loud, then nodded lightly and said, "Don't worry, if I can really use your body to complete my resurrection, I will help you kill that person."
"Good."
Taran replied with a simple word and then closed his eyes without any hesitation.
The Cult Leader took a deep breath and slowly raised his right hand.
"Bang!" But just as he was about to make his move, there was a sudden loud noise at the entrance of the altar.
The Cult Leader instinctively stopped his actions and turned to look at the entrance of the altar.
There, a young man and a woman were walking slowly to the altar.
When he saw the young man, his eyes widened in disbelief, and his expression became very strange.
Taran also opened his eyes and looked in the direction of Connor and Rachel, his expression seeming somewhat puzzled. He couldn't understand who would have the audacity to enter the Blood Moon Sect's altar like this!
"Who are you two? How dare you enter the altar? Are you tired of living?"
An elder shouted angrily at Connor.
"I am Connor McDonald."
Connor calmly replied to the elder.
Upon hearing his words, everyone was dumbfounded, as they never expected him to actually enter the altar.
"Could it be that the Grand Elder has failed?"
"How is that possible?"
People couldn't help but whisper to each other.
Connor, however, led Rachel toward the Blood Moon Sect's Cult Leader without saying anything to the elder.
The Cult Leader scrutinized him from head to toe, but he couldn't read his expression.
After a moment, Connor, still without speaking to the Cult Leader, turned to Taran and asked softly, "Were you the master by Yamino's side?"
"Who are you?" Taran's expression appeared somewhat unusual upon hearing Yamino's name.
"Don't worry, I'm not with Yamino. I'm here to save you," he explained calmly.
"What kind of person are you?"
At this moment, he didn't seem to fully trust Connor.
"Who I am doesn't matter. You just need to tell me, were you Yamino's master?"
Connor asked directly.
"I was."
Taran nodded, seemingly convinced that Connor was not a bad person.
"Good."
Connor breathed a sigh of relief upon confirming that he was not too late. Then, he focused his attention on the Blood Moon Sect's Cult Leader and asked without any emotion, "Were you the Cult Leader of the Blood Moon Sect?"
"Yes, I was."
The Cult Leader nodded and continued, "I didn't expect you to break into the altar at the last moment. You disrupted our thousands of years of preparations. Today, I had to kill you and reduce you to ashes, subject you to endless torment until you died!"
"Kill me?"
Connor couldn't help but sneer, then calmly said, "Now, you were just a mere evil spirit. Did you think you could kill me?"
"You were really arrogant!"
The Cult Leader didn't seem to get angry because of Connor's words. Instead, he remained calm.
"Enough talk. If you wanted to kill me, let's get to it!"
Connor said softly.
The Cult Leader looked at the altar next to him. He spent hundreds of years building this altar, and the array inside it was his careful design. If he fought Connor here, the entire altar might be destroyed. Then, even if he killed Connor, rebuilding the altar wouldn't be easy.
"I couldn't use my full power here. Were you willing to fight me outside?"
The Cult Leader asked quietly.
"Alright."
Connor agreed with a nod.
This suggestion from the Cult Leader aligned with Connor's intentions. He was concerned that if they fought inside the altar, Taran and Rachel might be in danger. So, he'd rather face the Cult Leader outside.
"Watch over these people for me while I was gone..."
The Cult Leader instructed his elders, then rushed towards the altar's exit.
Connor hesitated for a moment, then glanced at Rachel and said softly, "Stay here, I'll be back soon!"
