Chapter 1954: The Battle Begins
"Roger!"
The young man replied and then hurriedly turned around to leave.
Tony's expression remained angry after the young man's departure. He clenched his teeth and muttered, "A bunch of useless people. How could so many of them fail to stop a single person? If the Sect Leader finds out, how will I explain this?"
"Tony, there's no need to be so anxious. This Connor is genuinely terrifying in strength. It's normal that your men couldn't stop him. The Sect Leader will never blame you for that," a voice calmly spoke.
At that moment, an elderly man entered the tent, smiling as he addressed Tony.
Tony, upon hearing the words, hesitated for a moment, then quickly stood up and approached the elderly man respectfully. He said with a smile, "Third Elder, why have you come?"
"The Sect Leader had already anticipated that your people might not be able to stop Connor, so he sent me here to assist you," the Third Elder replied casually.
"Third Elder, please rest assured. It was my people's negligence earlier, and I will definitely deal with this person. I won't let him get anywhere near the headquarters, no matter what," Tony assured.
"Hehe..." The Third Elder laughed and added, "Tony, you may not be aware, but Connor is not an ordinary martial artist. Just a few days ago, he wiped out one of our Blood Moon Sect's branches. So don't blame yourself. It's normal for ordinary people to be unable to stop him. Moreover, letting him enter Sutie Mountain is in line with the Sect Leader's intentions."
Tony hesitated upon hearing this and asked with a furrowed brow, "Third Elder, what do you mean by that?"
"Connor may have entered Sutie Mountain easily, but getting out might not be as simple. We can take advantage of this opportunity to close the trap," the Third Elder replied calmly.
"I see," Tony finally understood. He realized that letting Connor enter Sutie Mountain might have been a calculated move to set a trap for him.
"Report!" Another young man entered the tent.
Tony turned to look at him and asked with a neutral expression, "What's going on now?"
"We've now located the target. He's approaching our headquarters, and our people can't stop him. His strength is too terrifying..." the young man reported in a hushed tone.
"He's really heading toward our headquarters?" Tony's expression turned somewhat shocked upon hearing this. He then turned to the Third Elder and asked, "What should we do now, Third Elder?"
"We must intercept him at all costs. We cannot allow this person to get close to the headquarters!" the Third Elder replied, his expression changing subtly.
"Very well, I'll go myself," Tony declared, realizing that Connor's speed was far too great for his subordinates to handle. He had to take matters into his own hands to prevent Connor from reaching the headquarters.
"I'll go with you, Tony," the Third Elder added.
Without further ado, Tony led his team into action. They drove heavily armed vehicles, including tanks, towards Connor's location, preparing for what seemed like an impending battle.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Connor, following the compass's guidance, continued to approach the Blood Moon Sect's headquarters.
As he got closer to the headquarters, he felt the strange aura growing stronger. He had a vague sense that this unique aura belonged to the Blood Moon Sect's leader, who was not a martial artist but a soul, hence the distinctiveness of the aura.
On his way, Connor encountered many of Tony's men, but they didn't even have a chance to open fire before he swiftly took them down.
Tony had deployed many subordinates within Sutie Mountain, but they were currently scattered and couldn't have any significant impact on his progress. He made no attempt to hide his presence, knowing that Tony's group was already aware of his intrusion into Sutie Mountain.
Tony and his team had reached a higher ground, preparing to intercept him when he appeared.
Sitting in a vehicle, Tony's expression remained tense. He knew that if Connor managed to break into the headquarters, he would undoubtedly face the Sect Leader's wrath, and the consequences would be dire.
Approximately five minutes later, Tony's walkie-talkie crackled with a message.
"Report, the target may enter our firing range in three minutes. Should we open fire?"
Upon hearing this, his expression turned excited. He picked up his walkie-talkie and shouted, "When the target enters the firing range, eliminate him at all costs!"
"Received!" Came the swift response.
Tony squinted his eyes, staring intently ahead, patiently awaiting Connor's arrival.
As expected, three minutes later, Connor indeed appeared within the sight of the group. Though he was a mere blurry figure at first, it became evident to everyone that he was their target.
"He's finally here!" Tony took a deep breath and picked up his walkie-talkie, shouting, "Prepare to open fire!"
"Boom!"
Following his command, a deafening roar erupted within Sutie Mountain. Countless bullets were fired, all aimed at Connor.
Although the strength of Winam was not particularly formidable, they did possess conventional weaponry. These weapons carried an astonishing amount of firepower. A single bullet had the capacity to easily eliminate a Black-rank martial artist.
Despite the terrifying power of martial artists, they were still not invulnerable. Their bodies were naturally more robust than those of ordinary people, but without using body refinement techniques or qi to protect themselves, their endurance was not significantly greater.
The hail of bullets rained down upon him, creating a wall of fire and metal as the group unleashed their firepower in a concerted effort to stop him.
