Chapter 1538: The Battle

"Mr. Faris, as a Grandmaster of ancient martial arts in Honduria, is it appropriate for you to target a junior like this?"

At this moment, a calm voice slowly echoed.

Faris turned his head to see that the speaker was none other than the Second Elder.

"Who are you?" Faris asked the Second Elder in a low voice.

"I am the Second Elder of the Purple Cloud Sect. If you intend to harm Sect Leader McDonald, you'll have to get through me first," the Second Elder said, striding towards Connor.

"You're just a mere Black-rank martial artist, yet you dare to stand in my way? You truly don't know your own limitations!" Faris coldly snorted with disdain.

Although the gap between Black-rank martial artists and Heaven-rank Grandmasters was substantial, with Black-rank being a level below Heaven-rank, Faris, even as a high-level Black-rank martial artist, was no match for a Grandmaster like Faris.

"Protecting Sect Leader McDonald is my duty. Although I may not be your match, I am willing to stand my ground. If I can delay you, then I've done my part," the Second Elder calmly replied.

"Haha, I appreciate your sincerity if you put it that way. Since you insist on stopping me, I'll give you a chance. I'll use only thirty percent of my strength. If you manage to defeat me today, I'll spare this young man's life a bit longer," Faris said casually.

"Thank you, Mr. Faris," the Second Elder responded, not hesitating. Faris's claim of using only thirty percent of his strength gave him some hope of success.

"Proceed!" Faris said, his tone casual.

Without hesitation, the Second Elder stepped forward and attacked Faris.

"Boom!"

A deafening sound echoed through the air. The Second Elder's fist struck Faris's chest forcefully.

Connor felt as if the earth trembled for a moment.

However, Faris remained standing in place, his expression surprisingly calm.

A trace of astonishment flickered in the Second Elder's eyes as he looked at Faris. He knew that Faris wouldn't go back on his word about using only thirty percent of his strength. Despite being a Black-rank martial artist, Faris was a Grandmaster and wouldn't break his promise over such matters.

What the Second Elder couldn't fathom was that Faris, using only thirty percent of his strength, could withstand his full-force blow.

This left him wondering just how terrifying Faris's strength would be if he used his full power.

"A Grandmaster of ancient martial arts truly lives up to his reputation," the Second Elder silently marveled.

Although the Second Elder was a senior member of the Purple Cloud Sect and had encountered numerous martial artists, this was his first time facing a Grandmaster. He was deeply shocked.

"Do you have only this much strength?" Faris asked with disdain.

"Try again!" The Second Elder roared, raising his fist and striking Faris's chest once more.

However, the result was the same as before – Faris remained immovable.

A hint of despair appeared in the Second Elder's eyes. He was at a loss for words to describe his feelings at this moment. He found Faris's terrifying resilience simply unbelievable. Faris's physical attributes had reached a level that defied comprehension.

Just as the Second Elder was still in shock, Faris suddenly raised his leg and kicked toward the Second Elder.

"Second Elder, be careful!" Waverly couldn't help but shout.

The Second Elder's expression turned wary, and he quickly retreated.

In the blink of an eye, the Second Elder had retreated several meters.

Faris's kick had missed the Second Elder's target.

Connor stood at a distance, watching their battle with a mix of shock and awe. He knew Faris was formidable, but he had never witnessed such a high-level battle before.

Waverly leaned toward Connor and whispered, "Mr. Connor, let's take this chance to escape."

"What about the Second Elder?" He hesitated.

"He will find a way to escape on his own. Right now, staying here only hinders us," she urged.

Upon hearing her words, he hesitated for a moment before nodding subtly. He turned to leave, hoping to escape while Faris was occupied.

However, just as they were about to leave, a surge of energy shot toward them. It struck Waverly's right leg, causing her to cry out in pain and collapse.

"Are you alright, Waverly?" he anxiously asked.

"Mr. Connor, I'm fine..." She gritted her teeth and replied, though the impact had left her unable to move her right leg.

"I advise you both to behave, or I will kill both of you now!" Faris declared, his expression cold.

Connor's heart sank upon hearing these words. He realized that he had no chance of escape now and could only hope that the Second Elder could do something to save them.

Meanwhile, the battle between the Second Elder and Faris intensified. The clash of their blows sent shockwaves through the air.

Although he was using only thirty percent of his strength, his overwhelming power was evident. The Second Elder struggled to keep up.

"Boom!"

At one point, the Second Elder's fist landed on his chest, but he retaliated with an equally powerful strike. However, the outcome was vastly different.

While he remained firmly rooted in place, the Second Elder was sent flying and crashed onto the road below.

Connor's gaze fixed on the fallen Second Elder. He could see that the Second Elder's chest had caved in, indicating that Faris's punch had shattered his ribs.

Despite his injuries, the Second Elder coughed and managed to rise to his feet.
