Chapter 1444: Give It A Try
Maya had initially thought that Connor truly had some skills, given his confident demeanor.
However, Maya was utterly surprised when she discovered that Connor couldn't play the piece 'Melody of the Night' at all.
What made it even more baffling was that Connor not only couldn't play the piece but also couldn't read sheet music. Maya thought he was just causing trouble.
Although Connor could play the piano, it had been a long time since he had practiced.
Furthermore, he knew very few pieces, all taught to him by his mother. So, it was normal that he couldn't read sheet music.
Chris looked at Connor with disdain, clearly enjoying the spectacle. He believed Connor posed no threat, given his inability to even read sheet music. How could someone like that compete?
"Miss Maya, I don't think we need to waste our time here. If this person can't read sheet music, he won't be able to perform 'Melody of the Night' well," Chris stepped forward and whispered to Maya.
"Well, I think we don't need to waste time either." She agreed with a nod.
"Maya, Connor is actually quite skilled at the piano. It's normal for him not to read sheet music," Priscilla hurriedly defended.
"Priscilla, he can't even read sheet music. How can I believe you?" Maya's frustration was evident in her voice.
Upon hearing her words, Priscilla turned to look at Connor and softly asked, "Connor, should I teach you how to play this piece?"
"Is it too late to teach him now?" Chris interjected with a sarcastic tone.
"No need to teach me. Priscilla, you just need to play the piece once," Connor calmly stated.
"Just once?" She looked at Connor, her expression puzzled.
"Yes, just once." He nodded calmly.
It's worth noting that Connor was now a warrior. His memory and reflexes were beyond ordinary, and he only needed to listen to Priscilla play once to learn it.
This change was one of the biggest transformations that occurred after he became a warrior.
An ordinary person who became a warrior experiences significant improvements in physical attributes, reaction speed, and memory.
Priscilla hesitated for a moment, unsure of his intentions. However, she walked over to the piano and elegantly took a seat.
Melody of the Night was quite renowned in the world of piano music. Though not extremely challenging, it became much more difficult when performed as a duet with a violin.
The intertwining melodies demand great cooperation between the piano and violin players. They must synchronize their rhythms and adapt to each other's variations.
In other words, it's not only about playing well individually but also harmonizing with each other.
Hence, Maya struggled to find a suitable partner, given her high standards.
Though she usually appears carefree, she had high expectations. She had been learning the violin since childhood and had won numerous awards. However, this was her first time performing in front of a large audience.
As the piano's melody began to flow, everyone's attention focused on Priscilla.
Despite not having played the piano for a while, her skills remained intact.
The melodious piano notes of Melody of the Night filled the room, evoking emotions that seemed to radiate from the music itself. The shifting melodies seemed to influence the audience's moods.
Chris stared at Priscilla, his expression one of astonishment. He sensed that her piano skills were truly exceptional, surpassing his own.
Connor, however, kept his eyes closed, immersed in the music.
"Can he really understand this piano piece?" Maya glanced at Connor, her expression filled with doubt.
She had never seen someone learn a piano piece like this before—simply by listening.
A few minutes later, the piano's notes gradually faded away, and Connor opened his eyes.
"Connor, did you learn it?" Priscilla stood up and softly inquired.
"Yes," Connor nodded calmly.
"Are you serious?" Maya stared at him with wide eyes, finding it hard to believe.
"Do I have any reason to joke with you? If I say I've learned it, then I have," Connor replied emotionlessly.
"How is that possible? You've only heard the piece once. Are you sure you can play it?" She was still skeptical.
"Want to try it now?" he suggested.
"Try it?" Maya paused, then rolled her eyes and said, "Fine, let's give it a try. But I don't believe you've really learned it."
With that, she picked up her violin, and he walked over to the piano.
Everyone's attention was on him; they still couldn't believe he had truly mastered the piece in such a short time.
