Chapter 589: 323 Dharma Form

A group of people slowly entered the small town.

The town was rather simple and not very large.

A path of bluestone more than four meters wide cut the whole town in half.

It was just getting dark, with smoke curling up from the town, and it was quite peaceful.

Fang Zhixing and his companions walked down the street, moving forward.

On both sides of the street ahead, a row of iron forks abruptly appeared, stuck into the ground.

Atop the iron forks were impaled corpses, skewered from their behinds and out their mouths.

There were a total of sixteen bodies, men and women, old and young, all stripped of their clothes, completely naked.

Some of the bodies were dripping with fresh blood, while others were already stinking, crawling with maggots.

Fang Zhixing glanced over and saw brands on the chest of the bodies.

The brand formed blurred writing that read: "Death to cultists!"

Fang Zhixing raised his eyebrows, curiously asking, "Does Qian State also have many cultists?"

"Yes!"

Lian Sheng gently waved his paper fan, smiling as he said, "Buddhism also has a distinction between right and wrong, that is, true Buddhas and Demon Buddhas. These executed people must have been followers of some Demon Buddha."

"Demon Buddha..."

Fang Zhixing understood and continued on, soon a strong stench wafted over.

At the end of the iron forks, a large dung pit had been dug by the roadside, buzzing with flies.

The pit was full of filth, the excrement of humans and animals.

Fang Zhixing’s pupils shrank as he saw four living people standing in the pit.

They were covered in wounds, half-submerged in excrement, their hands bound with rope.

In the middle of those four people floated a black stone idol.

The idol was pitch-black all over, shaped like a woman’s silhouette, with a fair face, silk-like seductive eyes, and seated.

Her legs were spread open.

Her chest was particularly perky.

The left hand was lightly placed, covering the space between the legs.

The right hand was grasping, covering the chest.

The belly was raised high, quite large, as if ten months pregnant.

In short, the style of this stone idol was extremely garish.

What was creepy was that the idol’s head even had two goat horns growing on it.

"Oh..."

Lian Sheng snapped his fan closed, expressing surprise with a hint of fascination.

Fang Zhixing asked, "What is this stone idol?"

Lian Sheng explained carefully, "I have long heard that in Qian State there is a notorious, extremely evil Demon Buddha known as the ’Great Black Buddha Mother.’

The Great Black Buddha Mother cult has many followers and is often purged by Buddhist institutions, but it manages to resurrect from its ashes time and time again. It can be described as one of the greatest banes of the Buddhist community."

Fang Zhixing listened quietly, deep in thought.

At this moment, Lian Quan sighed, brought his hands together in prayer, and silently recited a passage of scripture toward the Great Black Buddha Mother stone idol.

The Great Black Buddha Mother stone idol suddenly vibrated a few times, then began to slowly sink.

Before long, the whole idol was completely swallowed by the excrement.

After finishing this, Lian Quan showed a look of disgust, shook his head, and said, "The Demon Buddha dharma form is truly evil, one glance is enough to make one feel nauseated."

Fang Zhixing’s mind sparked, taking the opportunity to ask, "What exactly is the dharma form often spoken of in the Buddhist community?"

Lian Quan pondered for a moment, then explained carefully, "Buddhist dharma forms differ from the Dharma Body of Taoism.

Taoism’s Dharma Body can be molded at will, but Buddhist dharma forms are fixed and unchanging."

She elaborated, "All the cultivation techniques inherited in Buddhism actually come from three ’Diamond Sutras,’ each of which records three dharma forms, totaling nine in all."

"Because they originate from the ’Diamond Sutra,’ these are collectively known as the Nine Great Vajra Dharma Forms."

"They are the Angry Eye Vajra, Immovable Ming King, Endless Sea of Suffering, Dust-free and Pure, Seven-colored Glaze, Great Compassionate and Merciful, Great Wisdom and Great Wisdom, Namo Treasure Light, and Eternal Damnation."

"Apart from these Nine Great Vajra Dharma Forms, all other dharma forms are not considered orthodox; they belong to Demon Buddhas."

"For example, this Great Black Buddha Mother form, which indulges in evil desires, advocates wicked lust, is gluttonous without restraint, and has a nature inclined to slaughter, is a typical Demon Buddha."

Fang Zhixing understood.

Just as there are evil gods causing chaos in Taoism, the Buddha Court is not as peaceful as it appears.

The group continued on their way and soon found an inn to rest their feet.

Fang Zhixing entered his room, spread out a map of Qian State, and studied it carefully.

Qian State was once the power center of the former dynasty, much larger than Dai State and Chu State, with roads extending in all directions and a large population.

"Jihuo Temple is located atop Jihuo Mountain."

Fang Zhixing moved his finger across the map and suddenly stopped over a large mountain.

"Ah, so Jihuo Mountain is the highest mountain in Qian State, not far from the Ancient Imperial City..."

The location chosen by the Buddhist community to hold the grand ceremony was the Imperial City.

Fang Zhixing could go to Jihuo Temple first and then to the Imperial City.

"Hmm, I should have enough time."

After some thought, Fang Zhixing quickly made his calculations.

The moonlight was like water, the stars twinkled.

The night sky over the small town was as beautiful as a painting.

Soon, a large cloud of darkness drifted over.

The town quickly plunged into darkness, pitch black everywhere, as black as thick ink, terrifyingly black.

The chickens and dogs seemed to sense something and all hid in corners, not daring to move.

What was strange was that only the sheep in the sheepfold all lifted their heads in unison, straining their necks as a dark light filled their eyes.

Before long, a stout ram suddenly jumped out of the sheepfold, rushing towards the street at speed.

The ram ran to the outside of the inn, its pure black eyes fixing on a window.

In the next instant!

In the room, Fang Zhixing’s eyes snapped open, and he rolled out of bed.

Xigou was still sound asleep, oblivious to any anomalies.

Hoo~

Suddenly, the window flung open.

The ram’s sight blurred.

Immediately, a figure reflected in its pure black eyes, mere inches away.

It was Fang Zhixing!

Like a phantom, as if through instantaneous movement, he suddenly appeared in front of the ram.

The ram stood motionless, its body rigid in place.
