"Big sister, can you wait for my sister to arrive before leaving? I’m scared..."

Nana clung to Qiao Yi’s hand, unwilling to let go, making the situation awkward not only for Qiao Yi but also for several patrolling officers.

In front of police officers, Nana’s expression of fear spared no face for them!

This woman, An Wei, her voice was too similar to that of the woman’s voice from Jenfors’s phone call!

Qiao Yi steadied her mind, trying to act nonchalant as she probed.

"Miss An, right? You look very familiar. Have we met before?"

"How could that be? I just returned from abroad with Nana three days ago, and I’ve been living overseas before that. Perhaps I resemble a friend of Miss Qiao’s."

An Wei’s response was too natural, so smooth that Qiao Yi couldn’t find any flaws.

"Regardless, I still want to thank you for helping Nana."

"It was nothing; I should help."

Qiao Yi was not used to being thanked so formally, waved her hand and turned to the patrolling officers.

"Now that Nana’s sister is here, I’ll be leaving. My flight is about to take off."

Having said that, Qiao Yi patted Nana’s head and left the patrol office.

Lu Yanchuan learned about Qiao Yi’s act of bravery at the airport and immediately wanted to pick her up and bring her back to Jing City, but Qiao Yi declined.

"I’m about to board my flight; you coming now would just be a waste of time. Besides, I’m not injured."

Qiao Yi couldn’t shake the feeling that An Wei was very suspicious, not just because An Wei’s voice was remarkably similar to one she had heard before, but also because everything about An Wei, from her appearance to their parting, was too calm.

"I’ll send you her photo. She said she returned to the country three days ago; look into this direction."

Qiao Yi sent a photo of herself with Nana and An Wei to Lu Yanchuan, torn between hoping he would and wouldn’t find something out.

After all, if Lu Yanchuan really did discover something, it would mean that today’s child trafficking setup might specifically target her, making her adversaries even more troublesome.

Qiao Yi didn’t expect to meet An Wei again so soon, and on the same plane no less, seated in the neighboring seats.

"We meet again, Miss Qiao, what a coincidence."

It was so coincidental that Qiao Yi felt uneasy, the chill in her heart wouldn’t disperse as she observed An Wei’s smile.

Nana was sitting by the window on the other side, waving at Qiao Yi as she stood up.

If this were truly a coincidence, Qiao Yi was unwilling to believe it; how could there be such a neatly arranged incident in the world!

An Wei, not a chatty person, fell silent after exchanging greetings with Qiao Yi.

And Qiao Yi, on guard against An Wei, naturally wouldn’t talk much either. Only Nana, oblivious to the tension, chatted with Qiao Yi across the distance, delighted with any response she got.

Without a second thought, Qiao Yi opened her suitcase right there in the airport and found the phone.

It was indeed that phone; An Wei was certainly the woman who had spoken to Jenfors!

"Big sister, where did my sister go? Why has she disappeared?"

Nana’s cries drew Qiao Yi’s attention back. She packed her things and looked at Nana with complex emotions.

An Wei’s identity as a dangerous individual was confirmed, but Nana, only seven years old, was innocent. Regardless of the grudges between the adults, Qiao Yi couldn’t just abandon Nana at the airport.

As she hesitated, Lu Yanchuan finally appeared.

"Why are you still standing here and not going out?"

He had waited outside for a long time, having calculated the flight’s landing time precisely, and when Qiao Yi didn’t show up, he grew worried that something untoward had happened to her.

After the kidnapping ordeal, Qiao Yi was seen by Lu Yanchuan as entirely fragile.

"Why is there a child?"

Noticing Nana beside Qiao Yi, Yanchuan furrowed his brow, giving her a quick once-over. He took the luggage from Qiao Yi’s hand and led her towards the airport exit.

"Her sister is the one who spoke to Jenfors. She disappeared right after we got off the plane, and that’s when Nana came looking for me."
