Chapter 109: Sian’s Radiance
All eyes in the room shifted toward the slender teenager, their gaze drawn to the graceful curve of his back, which seemed almost delicate beneath the dim light.
And then—
Lan Qisheng’s eyes widened.
The mad doctor gasped, his breath catching in his throat, as he stepped forward with an unexpected urgency. But then he froze, his wild eyes wide with a blend of madness and awe, both emotions flickering across his gaunt face like shadows dancing in the flickering light.
Jiao Liangchen maintained a serene expression, the calmest of the three, yet the tightening of his fists around the fabric of his clothes revealed the intensity brewing beneath his composed facade. The muscles in his arms tensed subtly, and even though his face remained placid, the strain of his grip spoke volumes about the turmoil simmering within him.
He was just as stunned.
The reason?
It was all because of one person.
Or, more accurately, due to the warm, soft amber-yellow light that now radiated from Sian’s fingertips, casting a gentle glow that danced in the shadows and illuminated the surrounding space with an ethereal warmth.
It shone with an intense brilliance, casting a warm, golden light that enveloped He Jinyun’s entire figure on the bed, highlighting the delicate features of his face and the gentle contours of his form.
"Good."
A smile blossomed on Sian’s lips, his pale yet strikingly beautiful visage glowing with a hint of joy as if the very light around him had ignited a spark within.
But in those fleeting seconds, a pallor washed over him, transforming his vibrant complexion into a ghastly shade. Even his normally rosy, cherry-colored lips, so full of life, had faded to a ghastly grayish-white as if all vitality had drained from him.
"D...Damn it."
He was happy—because his power had finally responded.
It was working.
It was calming the unstable power inside He Jinyun.
But then he realized—
His body was too weak.
Far too weak to sustain the power for long.
Less than a minute had passed—
And already, he was trembling.
His body was in pain.
Every inch of him hurt.
Never, even in his worst nightmares, had Sian imagined being this fragile.
In the past, he would only feel tired after treating twenty rampaging patients.
Now, he hadn’t even finished healing one—
And it felt like he was about to collapse.
And then—
He did.
The teen’s body buckled and fell.
Everyone watching panicked.
Even He Jinyun’s personal doctor rushed forward with the others to catch him—
But none of them got the chance.
Because He Jinyun beat them to it.
He sat up in a flash and caught Sian in his arms, holding him tightly.
He gently turned Sian’s lifeless body to face him, his heart heavy as he traced his trembling fingers along the smooth, cold surface of his brother’s cheeks. The chill of Sian’s skin sent a shiver through him.
"Gege... Don’t scare me. Wake up... Didn’t I tell you not to use your powers? You never listen to me... I’m going to tell Nuna about you... let her teach you a harsh lesson!"
"You little brat... you—"
In truth, Sian hadn’t lost consciousness—he had only lost his strength.
His body was weak, but his mind remained clear.
As he strained to open his eyes in response to He Jinyun’s menacing threats, a wave of disbelief washed over him. What he beheld was enough to steal the words from his lips and leave him momentarily paralyzed. The scene before him unfolded with stark clarity, grounding him in a reality that was both shocking and surreal.
Those golden eyes were staring at him, trembling with fear and sorrow.
How could he continue scolding the boy after that?
Sian raised his hand and flicked the boy’s nose with playful annoyance. "I’m not dead yet. What’s with the tears? You little troublemaker—daring to threaten your brother? Hmm?"
"Are you alright?"
A rough but gentle voice echoed in Sian’s ear, interrupting the siblings’ conversation.
Lan Qisheng stood in front of him, his expression dark and grim, but his eyes were filled with deep concern, fear—and perhaps a bit of relief. After carefully checking Sian’s condition and confirming it wasn’t too serious, the tension on his face eased.
Finally noticing his poor lover, Sian reached out and gently held Lan Qisheng’s hand, stroking it softly.
"Baby, I’m truly fine. Don’t be afraid. I’ll explain everything to you later, so don’t be mad."
How could Sian not notice his lover’s emotions—the disappointed, downcast expressions he’d worn the entire time?
Sian wasn’t that oblivious, but he hadn’t had the time or peace of mind to focus on the man.
He’d been overwhelmed by his own emotions—by the joy of finally meeting someone from his world, someone familiar.
Now, he was already thinking of ways to make it up to Lan Qisheng and earn his forgiveness for neglecting him.
Just then, he felt the man’s hand tighten around his.
Looking up, he saw Lan Qisheng smiling—an awkward, silly smile lighting up his spring-like features.
It was as if the storm that had once brewed in his eyes had never existed.
Sian chuckled to himself, thinking, [What an easy lover to please. I guess I don’t need to try to coax him after all. Just a touch is enough to make him smile like this... Still, it’s kind of cute].
If poor Lan Qisheng ever realized he’d missed a golden opportunity due to the foolishness of his love-struck mind, he might have wept bitterly.
Once Sian’s aura returned to its normal hue and his body had recovered from exhaustion, he sat upright on the bed with the help of both He Jinyun and Lan Qisheng.
Then, he waved at the others to sit down—there were several leather sofas in the room.
A palpable tension filled the air as a clear signal indicated that a serious conversation was about to unfold.
Everyone settled into their seats, the soft rustle of fabric and the quiet creaking of chairs punctuating the silence. Each person’s expression mirrored the gravity of the moment, reflecting a shared understanding that the discussion ahead would demand their full attention.
