Chapter 108: Rampancy!!

"Would one of you please explain what the hell you’re talking about?"

Lan Qisheng, who had held his tongue until now, couldn’t stop himself from raising his voice in frustration.

He had wanted to remain silent, to learn more about Sian, about his connection to the man on the bed and to the terrorist organization—about his entire life.

But he hadn’t been able to make sense of anything.

It was as if the two had been speaking a different language.

He could understand the words, yes, but he couldn’t connect the dots.

None of it made any sense.

What was that about supernatural powers?

What did Sian mean by human experimentation?

What was all that about the man’s energy going berserk, and those gemstones beneath his eye?

A flood of questions gnawed at his mind.

And he wasn’t the only one.

Jiao Liangchen was burning with curiosity, eyes fixed on Sian with unblinking focus.

The mad doctor, on the other hand, looked utterly dazed—his expression twisted with confusion and madness.

No one could tell what was going through his head, but it was clear he was in deep shock.

It was a good thing He Jinyun had dismissed his subordinates earlier.

Had they still been present, they would be whispering a million questions per minute.

"Sian!" Lan Qisheng shouted, nearly losing the last thread of patience he had left.

He reached toward the boy as if about to grab him and force the answers out—but the moment those sharp, beautiful amber eyes met his, all of his anger vanished.

The fury twisted into something else.

His once-furrowed brow and clenched jaw relaxed; his entire face seemed to glow with peace.

For a moment, Lan Qisheng nearly smiled—just because Sian had finally looked at him.

But that joy didn’t last long.

Sian’s gaze turned cold, just faintly, and his voice carried a calm detachment as he spoke:

"If you want answers, I’ll explain later. I’m busy right now."

Then he turned back to the man lying on the bed.

He Jinyun lay still like an obedient child, following his brother’s orders to the letter.

That was because he knew full well the consequences of disobeying his Gege.

And he didn’t want to anger him.

Sian placed a hand gently on He Jinyun’s forehead, then suddenly paused—as if remembering something.

He turned toward the three men standing behind him and said,

"What you’re about to witness—please keep it between us. Even if it looks like some cheap magic trick."

Maybe Sian thought explaining further was pointless, or maybe it was just his blunt nature that dismissed details.

His words were vague, and none of the three had any idea what he meant—

At least, not until Sian began his "work".

In his original world, Sian had been the strongest.

That wasn’t just praise.

It was a fact.

As the Bloody Demon, he had not only possessed terrifying supernatural powers and mad combat skills—

He also had one particular ability that both terrified his enemies and earned him reverence from his allies:

Sian could control the supernatural powers of others.

Yes, exactly as it sounds.

He could manipulate anyone’s ability—no matter how lethal or powerful.

He could suppress it, stop it, or even trigger it into a rampage.

To his enemies, it meant certain death.

Because in his presence, they would become ordinary humans.

Of course, this power came at a high cost.

Using it drained Sian immensely, placing a severe burden on his body and life.

That’s why he rarely used it in battle. He had more than enough other skills and powers to crush his enemies without risking himself.

But he did use it often—for his teammates.

To save them when they lost control of their powers.

This phenomenon—known as rampancy—was deadly.

It happens when a person’s power overwhelms them, driving them mad.

They would destroy everything in their path, and then self-destruct.

Thanks to Sian’s presence in their camp, such incidents were rare—unlike in other factions.

When Sian first saved He Jinyun, the boy had already fallen into rampancy.

It was the natural result of the overwhelming power he carried.

Barely surviving the brutal experiments performed on him had been a miracle.

But the power he had acquired was far too much for a child’s body.

Sian had helped stabilize that power every day—

And that was the only reason He Jinyun had survived as long as he had until he was eventually killed during a beast raid... and for other reasons.

"Gege, are you sure it’s safe to use your power here? If it puts your life at risk, I don’t want it. I don’t want treatment. I’ve lived more than twenty years in this world without losing control. I—"

"Shut up."

Sian stared at the tall, muscular man in front of him, almost unable to believe this was the same fragile child he had once protected.

What Lan Qisheng and the others didn’t know was—

Sian was the most anxious of them all.

He had far more questions than they did.

Why was his little brother here?

Why had he ended up in another body?

Why were there human experiments happening in this world?

And how had He Jinyun come to lead the largest terrorist organization?

Most importantly...

Why was he still able to use his powers?

Ever since the incident in the forest with the terrorists, Sian had suspected that he still had some form of supernatural ability.

He had considered two possibilities: either the original Sian in this world had powers, or his own powers had followed him here.

He had tried countless times to access them—to feel them again.

But no matter how hard he tried, it was like running into a brick wall.

The power was there.

He could sense it.

But he couldn’t touch it.

Still, Sian trusted his instincts.

He knew that power remained within him.

So when he learned that the little idiot still had his abilities somehow—

And knowing just how dangerous that power could become—

He didn’t hesitate to act.

"Don’t talk. Let me focus."

Sian closed his eyes and placed his hand back on He Jinyun’s forehead.

Silence fell over the room.
