Chapter 1359: Chapter 1359

The last trace of doubt in her heart was resolved, and Jane McCain felt especially light and happy, as if nothing had changed, yet everything seemed different.

She and Allen Rivera watched the scenery, soaked in hot springs, and fed small animals together. Allen taught her to recognize each different tree, telling her which tree housed squirrels and that the winter food had already filled the whole tree hole.

Jane thought that this winter might be the warmest winter she had ever experienced.

On second thought, she realized that as long as she was with him in the future, every winter would be warm.

Having stayed at the hot spring resort for three days, during dinner, Allen said they would return to Clearwater City tomorrow.

Allen’s mother was somewhat reluctant: "In previous years, you’d stay until the Lantern Festival. Why are you leaving so early this time? Tomorrow is only the fifth day of the new year."

"I’ve accumulated many annual leave days over the years. I’ve taken several leaves this year, and with some changes at work, I need to go back early to prepare," Allen explained.

While eating, Jane silently glanced at him.

Every year, Allen had a fixed number of annual leave days, as well as paid sick leave, personal leave, and compensatory leave for working during holidays, which added up to a considerable amount.

However, he seldom took leave normally, so he would use it all up during the New Year.

Allen’s father said, "Going back early is also good. Too long a break can make one lazy."

"Oh..." Allen’s mom sighed softly, "After all, work is important."

Others also chatted here and there, confirming the specific departure time to make time to see them off.

After dinner, Jane and Allen returned to their place.

Outside, the moon was bright, and the stars were sparse. The night air was particularly chilly. Jane curled her hands towards her mouth, gently exhaled, and could see a faint white mist.

Allen took her hand and tucked it into his wide coat pocket, his warm palm wrapping around her hand.

Jane moved closer to him.

"Did you... use up all your leave?" she asked softly, her tone hesitant, as if a bit guilty.

Allen walked leisurely, glanced at her, his eyes full of laughter, "What’s the matter?"

Jane lowered her head uncomfortably, looking at the textured, ancient bluestone pavement underfoot, and said in a small voice, "Next time... if you need to appease me next time, don’t take leave. Weekends... are fine too."

During the break-up period, Allen had used up all his leave.

Thinking about how she had made a fuss and caused him to miss much of the New Year’s reunion days, Jane felt particularly bad. But when she was angry, who cared about how many leave days her boyfriend had?

"I didn’t use it all, there’s still leave left," Allen said.

Jane was slightly startled and looked up at him.

The hand hidden in the pocket was clasped even tighter. He smiled slightly, "There’s still marriage leave."

Jane: "..."

Silently, her face turned red again...

She liked him more and more, feeling sweet and sticky as if honey was blended into oil. They say love has a time limit and will gradually become bland. Jane dared not think about it, because the feeling now was so real and intense that she couldn’t imagine a day when she wouldn’t love him.

Tomorrow they would leave. She asked Allen for a small wooden carved race car, planning to take it back and place it on her desk.

Thinking about how he made this item with his own hands in his youth, out of poplar wood, how cute it was.

After packing her luggage, she enjoyed the hot spring one last time. Her body became soft, skin tender and smooth, hair damp and clingy. She eagerly slipped into his arms, using her damp hair to rub against his chin mischievously getting his collar wet.

"Will you stay until I fall asleep, okay?" she cooed.

Allen took a dry towel to dry her hair.

Her flaxen long hair was fluffy and slightly curled, spread on both sides of her cheeks after being half dried, exuding a kind of disordered allure.

Allen held her chin and examined her, thinking she resembled a water siren, her skin fair and luminescent, lips fresh and red, and even her eyes carried a moist and dreamy look.

"But I won’t be able to sleep." he said.
