Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime -
Chapter 1346
Chapter 1346: Chapter 1346
Before Jane McCain could finish her sentence, the little boy sitting diagonally across from her spoke up again—
"Great-grandmother said that Uncle brought back a princess, the bedsheets should be made of long-staple cotton satin, the quilt should be cashmere, and the towels should be Aksu long-staple cotton... umph!"
The little boy’s mouth was covered by his mother once again.
"Gilbert, don’t be naughty! Do you know how hard it is for Uncle Allen to find a girlfriend?" The mother tried to kindly persuade the child and then gave Jane an apologetic smile.
However, Jane didn’t see it.
Because her head was hanging down low, wanting to find a crack in the ground to slip into!
Oh my god... could this get any more embarrassing?!
Everyone could see Jane’s awkwardness, and Allen’s grandparents were worried, afraid they were not being good hosts, so they spoke many reassuring words.
Allen told Jane, "Grandpa and Grandma don’t want you to feel constrained, just treat it like your own home. Everyone really likes you."
Jane looked up at Allen, her face filled with frustration and embarrassment, as if asking: Can I still trust your translations?!
Allen cleared his throat, "This time it’s true."
After a slight pause, he added, "The previous times weren’t really false either, just a more concise way of saying it."
She was speechless: "..."
...
Jane didn’t know how she survived the first dinner with the Rivera Family; she felt awkward from start to finish, quite a failure.
After dinner, Allen escorted her to the place where she’d be staying, a very elegant courtyard with plum blossoms blooming in front, a small hot spring pool in the back, and inside were wooden floors with a set of classical furniture, exuding a Tang Dynasty style.
Still, it couldn’t salvage Jane’s crushed spirits.
"It’s over... your family must think I’m especially pretentious, difficult to please, and picky." Every time Jane recalled the little boy’s words, she wanted to close her eyes, "Actually, I can be quite a good housewife..."
"They all really like you," Allen said.
Jane lay on the bed, silently feeling the texture of the long-staple cotton satin, and thought: How could that be possible? It was the first time meeting, and she hadn’t done anything remarkable; why would they like her?
Not hating her would be good enough...
She closed her eyes again. This feeling was truly despairing.
Allen, seeing her so dejected, found it amusing, walked over to scoop her into his arms, and kissed her stubbornly shut eyes.
"I’m telling the truth," Allen coaxed her with a smile. "The more particular and picky you are, the happier my grandparents are. The fact that such a precious young lady is willing to be my girlfriend means I’m even more impressive, right?"
Jane opened her eyes and looked at him, feeling conflicted.
Though she knew Allen was trying to cheer her up, the reasoning seemed... impeccable.
Her mood slightly improved, and she rested her head on his shoulder. Thinking about the room’s arrangements, she couldn’t help but ask, "Didn’t we decide to come here on the fly? How come everything seems like it was prepared a long time ago?"
Long-staple cotton satin sheets, cashmere quilts, and Aksu long-staple cotton towels couldn’t just appear out of nowhere.
"Tell the truth." She poked Allen’s chest with her finger, "Did you plan this in advance?"
"It’s just for emergencies," Allen captured her hand, kissed it by the corner of his lips, with a mysterious smile in his eyes, "I’ve also prepared a shirt for you. Want to change?"
Jane blushed and turned her head, "No."
"But I want you to." Allen’s hand slipped under her clothes, warm palms softly tracing her delicate skin.
His voice grew low and husky, "I really want you to."
Jane gazed at him with a blush, stunned for a long moment before murmuring softly, "You’ve changed."
Allen chuckled, holding her close, "Changed into what?"
Jane pursed her lips and said nothing, but inside she thought: You’ve turned naughty...
Perhaps it was this special place that released the restraints, allowing long-trapped mischievousness to stir restlessly.
He gently bit her neck, leaving a faint mark, teasing her intentionally, "Do you like me?"
Jane felt dizzy, exhaling slowly.
Annoying...
Made her heart melt.
