Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime -
Chapter 1287
Chapter 1287: Chapter 1287
Clearly, she wanted it terribly, and clearly, she wanted it like she’d die from yearning, but Jane stubbornly resisted answering.
She buried her burning cheeks in his chest, her voice muffled, "What about you, do you miss me?"
Allen chuckled softly and said, "Of course, I do."
Jane’s emotions surged uncontrollably like the tide, rising and spreading. She hugged Allen tighter and asked softly, "Have you ever been in love?"
"Why?"
"Nothing," Jane shook her head in his arms, "I just feel like you’re really good at it."
Allen laughed helplessly.
...
After talking in the room for a while, Allen took Jane out for dinner.
In this remote town, conditions were limited; there was no way to seek out private restaurants or high-end Japanese food.
They found a decently decorated restaurant nearby and ordered a few home-style dishes, eating leisurely.
Outside, it was snowing heavily without any sign of stopping.
Whether it was the icy road surface or the hazy snow mist, both were significant safety hazards for vehicles. Now, most of the highways were probably closed.
"Stay here tonight. I’ll have someone send you back tomorrow morning," Allen said. "I’ll take you to buy toiletries later, though you won’t be able to find your usual brands here. Just make do for one night."
Jane nodded and continued eating.
After a while, she seemed hesitant, then she thought for a moment and reached into her bag, her expression stunned.
"What’s wrong?" Allen asked her.
Jane glanced at him shyly and said softly, "No need to buy, I brought them."
Allen raised his eyebrows at her words, smiling, "So, Miss McCain came prepared?"
Jane looked embarrassed and explained, "No, I was going to bring them to your apartment, but I happened to run into Ray, and I didn’t have time to unload my bag before leaving with him..."
"Hmm, I know you wanted to see me." Allen smiled gently and touched her face.
Jane: "..."
He then said, "But don’t take his car anymore; Ray’s driving isn’t steady. He can’t fully recognize road signs and has poor composure in emergencies."
Jane thought: Well, no one’s driving is as steady as yours.
After dinner, Jane followed Allen to solve the accommodation issue.
In this small place, there were no tourists, and few outsiders visited. They only found a small and old traveler’s hostel.
Upon entering, the environment was concerning.
The bedding and pillows looked clean, but the room smelled damp and moldy. The neighbors were shabby men, whose eyes almost popped out upon seeing such a fresh beauty like Jane.
Jane and Allen’s faces were both unsightly.
Living in a place like this was definitely not an option. Even if Jane could endure the simplicity, Allen wouldn’t tolerate his girlfriend being oggled by a pack of hungry dogs.
Comparatively, the staff dormitory’s environment was much better.
However, the dormitory had allocated slots; it was fully occupied, so they couldn’t vacate a room just for Jane. In the end, Jane had to squeeze into a dorm room with Fiona Lake and Juliet Stewart, two assistants.
The dorm was a four-person room with two bunk beds. Fiona thoughtfully gave up her lower bunk and moved to Juliet’s upper bunk.
Jane felt very guilty, but she really wasn’t used to sleeping on the upper bunk. Thinking that her visit had inconvenienced others, she decided to give Fiona a bottle of perfume from her bag as a gift.
The perfume was Chanel No.5, Jane had only used it twice, and a mere 50 milliliters cost over 150 dollars. It wasn’t the most expensive perfume she had used, but it was definitely not bad, suitable as a gift.
However, Fiona probably didn’t understand its value. She sprayed it like floral water and smiled, saying thank you.
