Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime -
Chapter 1284
Chapter 1284: Chapter 1284
Jane McCain followed Ray Cooper to Wellville Town.
She checked on her phone; Wellville Town is a nearby township of Clearwater City. Normally, a two-hour car ride would suffice. However, due to the recent cold weather, many sections of the road are covered with snow and ice, meaning cars can’t drive too fast. It’s estimated that the trip will take two and a half hours.
After arriving, they’ll meet, chat for a bit, and then spend another two and a half hours to return... A total of five hours.
Who knows what Allen Rivera will think. Anyway, Jane McCain is already touched.
Ray Cooper was driving, and instead of going straight to Wellville Town, he first went to Juliet Stewart’s home.
They picked up Juliet Stewart, who was dragging a suitcase, at the Community entrance.
Juliet Stewart was visibly surprised when she saw Jane McCain in the car.
Ray Cooper explained: "Ms. McCain is delivering something to Mr. Rivera."
Juliet Stewart nodded, understanding, and didn’t ask further. After greeting Jane McCain, she quietly sat down and pulled out a stack of documents to review.
Ray Cooper, who couldn’t keep his mouth shut, started chatting with Juliet Stewart while driving, asking her: "We’re staying for at most three days. Why did you bring such a big suitcase? What’s in it?"
Juliet Stewart was momentarily puzzled and asked Ray Cooper back: "Didn’t you bring a suitcase?"
Ray Cooper freed one hand and patted the backpack on the passenger seat. "Look, everything is in here!"
Juliet Stewart couldn’t help but frown, "How can that fit everything? Change of clothes, toiletries, slippers, hair dryer, bed sheets, and pillowcase..."
"What? You even brought bed sheets?!" Ray Cooper exclaimed exaggeratedly. "Princess Juliet, is that necessary!"
Juliet Stewart pursed her lips: "I don’t want to use those dirty old ones for things I sleep with intimately..."
Ray Cooper joked: "If Fiona Lake saw your luggage, she’d probably say you’re pampered again."
"She can think whatever she wants," Juliet Stewart replied coldly.
Ray Cooper realized he had said the wrong thing and quickly tried to make amends: "That’s just her personality. Don’t get mad. After the New Year, she’ll be officially promoted. Who knows where she’ll be assigned to. You won’t see her thereafter."
Juliet Stewart kept her head down, leading through the documents, ignoring Ray Cooper.
Ray Cooper shifted the topic again, saying: "Mr. Rivera and Morgan should’ve arrived already. I wonder if they’ve discovered anything new... This case is really odd..."
Juliet Stewart continued to ignore him.
Ray Cooper, feeling awkward, sighed a couple of times before finally quieting down and focusing on driving.
Jane McCain quietly observed the two of them, speculating that Ray Cooper might have a bit of a crush on Juliet Stewart. As for Juliet Stewart, she has high standards and with a cool male god like Allen Rivera right in front of her, she probably looks down on Ray Cooper.
Jane McCain quietly shifted her gaze away. Other people’s business wasn’t her concern; she was just watching for the fun of it.
...
The car smoothly traveled along the road, and it took much longer than Jane McCain had estimated, especially after exiting the highway. The road became bumpy, and she felt like she was constantly being shaken and jolted inside the car.
Ray Cooper, somewhat apologetic, said: "This road is tough; the front should be better..."
The reality was that the road ahead was even worse.
Jane McCain felt nauseated from the jostling, but with her trained stamina, having previously climbed mountains and crossed rivers looking for scenic spots for fashion shoots with her mother, models, and a large group of staff, this was nothing.
But Juliet Stewart couldn’t take it; midway, she asked Ray Cooper to pull over. She got out and retched, looking extremely miserable.
Jane McCain got out of the car and handed her a tissue from her bag.
Juliet Stewart looked at her, hesitated for a moment, then took the tissue, "Thank you."
"You should rest for a bit; otherwise, you’ll throw up again later," Jane McCain kindly suggested.
"No need, I brought medicine." Juliet Stewart retrieved her luggage from the rear trunk and opened it to find her medicine.
Jane McCain saw her suitcase packed full and noticed a small bag containing emergency medicine for travel—there were tablets for colds, fevers, diarrhea, and motion sickness, along with a bottle of Centrum multivitamin tablets.
