Chapter 1283: Chapter 1283

Allen Rivera has four assistants: Fiona Lake, Lucas Tucker, Ray Cooper, and Juliet Stewart.

The assistants generally have between one to three years of experience. Among Allen’s four assistants, only Fiona has been with him for two years; the others are newcomers who joined the office this year.

Last time Jane McCain asked him why he was so tired, Allen half-jokingly said: "Because I have so many assistants."

Having a capable assistant can make his work twice as efficient, but managing a bunch of newcomers significantly reduces his work efficiency, not to mention the time and effort needed to teach and guide them.

Especially with the year-end approaching, Allen has to conduct performance evaluations for the assistants, summarize their performance, and handle miscellaneous paperwork, which occupies a lot of his time.

No wonder he was so keen on getting Purple Summers to be his assistant back then.

The assistant who opened the door was Ray Cooper.

In Allen’s opinion, Ray is someone who tends to be a bit impatient and impulsive in both work and life.

Of course, anyone would seem impatient and impulsive compared to Allen.

Jane still remembers that while she was idly sitting in the office, she overheard some assistants teasing each other, saying that Ray’s paperwork was always sloppy and never met Allen’s standards, but his strong suit was his action-oriented approach and his ability to get along with clients.

Ray was obviously taken aback to see Jane and stood there frozen.

The two of them awkwardly remained silent for a few seconds before Ray said, "Mr. Rivera had an unexpected task in Wellville Town and won’t be back for two or three days. He gave me the key and asked me to pack some clothes for him and bring them over..."

As if to lighten the mood, he half-jokingly added, "Gosh, why does Mr. Rivera need me to pack for him when he has a girlfriend? Ms. McCain, could you help out and pack a couple of changes of clothes for him?"

What else could Jane say?

She politely nodded, agreed, and then walked into the house to find Allen’s clothes, playing the role of a responsible girlfriend.

Allen had very meticulous habits. When she opened the sliding doors to his wardrobe, everything was neatly categorized: shirts, pants, underwear, and socks, all arranged impeccably.

After packing the needed items, Jane suddenly remembered something and looked up to ask Ray, "If he won’t be back for two or three days, what about Christmas..."

Christmas was two days away, and she had originally planned to spend it with him.

Ray smiled apologetically, "Yeah, unfortunately, he probably won’t make it back for Christmas."

Jane felt a wave of disappointment, but she knew this was the nature of Allen’s job — there was nothing to be done about it.

"Please take this to him for me," Jane handed Ray a gift bag.

Ray weighed the bag and jokingly asked, "Is this a Christmas gift?"

Jane smiled softly, "Yes, it’s a scarf, a matching couple’s set."

Ray chuckled, "Such an important gift! How about this: Ms. McCain, why don’t you come with me and deliver it to Mr. Rivera in person? I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to see you!"

Ray’s suggestion aligned perfectly with Jane’s wishes. Not only did she want to give it to him personally, but she also wanted to put it on him herself.

After a moment of contemplation, she tentatively asked, "You guys are going for work. Would it be inconvenient if I came along?"

"What’s inconvenient about it? It won’t take much time just to meet him for a bit," Ray dismissed her concern. "I’ll drive you there and bring you back. You can deliver your gift with peace of mind, and Mr. Rivera will be happy to see you. Everybody wins."

Ray’s words made Jane eager to go. She couldn’t help but imagine the expression on Allen’s face when he saw her unexpectedly appear.

Every woman probably has this urge: to show up unannounced in front of her beloved and give him a delightful surprise.

"Alright, then. Sorry to trouble you," Jane picked up her bag, smiling brightly.
