Chapter 1253
Chapter 1253: Chapter 1253
The police officer frowned slightly, "That’s unlikely."
"Officer, I’ve noticed that you’ve been using the word ’unlikely’ since we began. When I said maybe someone else put the body in Hans Geoffrey’s trunk, you said it’s unlikely. When I mentioned someone hiding in the villa, you said the likelihood is low."
Marcel Jefferson smiled slightly, looked at the officer on the witness stand, and asked, "A young girl goes out to meet friends late at night, but by the next day, she’s found dead. Do you think that’s likely?"
The officer’s frown deepened, his face showing a slight discomfort.
"Did the police reduce the intensity of their search for other leads because the likelihood was low?" Marcel Jefferson asked.
The officer replied sternly, "Of course not. We conducted a thorough and meticulous investigation of this case."
"A thorough investigation?" Marcel Jefferson nodded slightly, "Then, did you investigate the Rose Date chat group? My client and the victim, Miss Sophia Wilson, met in that chat group, and both had several intimate contacts. Did you investigate all these people?"
"We investigated some." The officer replied.
"Some?" Marcel Jefferson pressed, "How many? Two or three? Four or five? Or more than ten?"
"The chat group disbanded quickly, and users were using virtual names. We didn’t have time to verify all identities."
Marcel Jefferson nodded thoughtfully, "It’s indeed difficult to verify everyone’s information. So, officer, tell us about the people you did investigate."
The officer remained silent, not saying a word.
"Why?" Marcel Jefferson asked him, "You just said you investigated some."
The officer took a slow breath and answered, "After our investigation, we believe that the defendant Hans Geoffrey is the main suspect."
"What kind of investigation led you to this conclusion?" Marcel Jefferson asked, "Did you actually investigate other people?"
"We did investigate!"
"Then, please state the names of other suspects you’ve investigated."
"Our investigation concluded that Hans Geoffrey is the primary suspect!"
"Officer, please state the names of other suspects."
"Those people were all ruled out after investigation. Your client is the ultimate perpetrator!"
"Fine, I’d still like to know the names of other suspects." Marcel Jefferson said calmly.
The officer took a deep breath, then exhaled heavily, and replied word by word, "Your client is the primary suspect!"
"How about the security guard that night?" Marcel Jefferson returned to the table and pulled out a document, "Sophia Wilson arrived at Wind Pavilion Garden at ten o’clock, and the security guard also changed shifts at ten o’clock. Did you investigate the alibi of that security guard?"
The officer said grimly, "We asked; the security guard went home to sleep."
Marcel Jefferson smiled, "Oh, really? My client said he was sleeping that night, and you think it’s a story. But when the security guard said he went home to sleep, you believed him?"
"Objection!" Graham Burke stood up.
"I’ll change the question." Marcel Jefferson said, "In the chat group, there’s a person with the nickname TJ who was closely connected to Sophia Wilson. Their chat involved topics of sex, violence, and death multiple times, and he threatened her that if she betrayed him, there would be severe consequences. Did you investigate this TJ person?"
The officer replied, "He sent such messages to many people."
Marcel Jefferson asked, "So you didn’t investigate his alibi on the night of the crime either?"
The officer remained silent with a grim expression.
Marcel Jefferson stepped closer, looking at the officer, "You’ve decided Hans Geoffrey is the killer, so you didn’t spend time investigating other suspects, did you?"
"The crime scene was in Hans Geoffrey’s house! The murder weapon was Hans Geoffrey’s razor! The victim’s ring had Hans Geoffrey’s fingerprints!" The officer suppressed his anger and said in a low voice, "Lawyer, don’t you think the facts are clear enough?!"
"Perhaps they are clear enough." Marcel Jefferson said calmly, "But if he’s truly been wronged, then you are an invisible accomplice."
