Chapter 1581: Chapter 1142: Can’t Win, Call for Parents
If Ange hadn’t shouted "Red," everyone would have almost forgotten about his ability. After all, there were rarely any existences that made him feel such danger.
Now this Mourning Bone Dragon, which broke through the Plane Barrier effortlessly, caused Ange to shout "Red" and even ask Lea and the others to leave first—an extremely rare occurrence. This meant that Ange wasn’t confident he could protect Lea and the others while confronting the Mourning Bone Dragon.
"How did it turn red? Last time we saw it, wasn’t it behaving normally? You even said its soul was weak." Negris asked in confusion.
"It’s not its soul." While speaking, Ange’s Star God’s Body emerged, and he leaped upward, heading straight for the Mourning Bone Dragon in the air.
Anthony immediately began organizing the evacuation of the Great Speaker’s group, but Lea refused: "No, there are still so many people here. I’ll only leave once they’re safe..."
Before she could finish, Anthony slapped her forehead with a blast of Holy Light, knocking her unconscious. Throwing her to her ugly Maid, Erik, he said, "Take her and go."
Erik shuddered all over, hefted Lea up on her shoulder, and ran into the tree hole without even glancing back. It was terrifying; when Lea was being stubborn, even the Great Speaker couldn’t handle her, yet Anthony had simply dealt with it in such a blunt manner.
The projection of the Great Speaker attached to Bret’s body spoke hesitantly, "You... you were too forceful. It wouldn’t be good if she’s injured."
"Don’t worry. Holy Awe—it stupefies but doesn’t hurt the brain, and it even has a slight healing effect." Anthony waved dismissively and continued, "You working or not? If you’re not working, step aside and let Bret handle things. You can switch to some other skeleton."
The Great Speaker awkwardly "stepped aside," returning to his original body. He froze for quite a while before muttering, "He dared to command me?"
But after thinking for a while, the Great Speaker decided to accept the order, randomly choosing a Witch to project onto—not daring to use an important character with followers, for fear of being rejected again by Anthony.
From the Mourning Bone Dragon, Ange no longer sensed Fatty Dragon’s presence; instead, its aura was replaced by a violent, manic will. The fire light emanating from its eye sockets was no longer the usual color of Soul Fire; it had turned dark red—a very strange occurrence.
"Why is it red? Is there such a thing as red Soul Fire?" Seeing Ange rush upward, Negris immediately extracted his soul and projected it onto Ange.
For Negris, nothing else mattered—guiding Ange in battle was the most important thing.
Everyone knows that souls only manifest in specific forms, ranked from lowest to highest: Soul Fire, Soul Heart, Mourning Soul, Black Crystal Soul, Primordial Body. Once a soul reaches the level of Primordial Body, it transcends the boundaries of soul classification.
Soul Fire is blue, Soul Heart is deep blue, Mourning Soul is violet-blue so dark it appears purple, and Black Crystal Soul is purple so dark it looks black. Regardless of the level, none are red—could this be another type of power?
Ange didn’t respond, as the Mourning Bone Dragon had already opened its massive mouth towards him—Roar!
Have you seen those super Amplification Arrays in Academy Square?
When activated, the air nearby gets compressed and pushed outward; if you stand close by, you’ll feel the air forcibly striking you, like being abruptly shoved. That’s why people are advised not to stand directly in front of these arrays.
Right now, Ange felt as though the Mourning Bone Dragon’s mouth was a super Amplification Array for souls. Its roar transformed into soul soundwaves, striking Ange like a physical blow.
Ange’s soul wasn’t particularly strong at this moment. After all, he was originally just a plant construct. But from the moment Little Sapling appeared, their symbiotic relationship meant that the shock Ange endured was absorbed equally by Little Sapling.
A Divine Tree supporting the Void, even in its full form with Ancient Godlight, Little Sapling could still bear the impact.
If that were all, Ange’s soul might only be resilient, capable of taking hits without fighting back. However, he also possessed Little Ghost, whose boundless energy traversed the Boundless Space Hole from the Chaos Plane to reach here.
Beyond this, there existed the Plane Consciousness Kram—a second source of endless energy.
With a resilient soul and infinite energy, all that remained was a suitable body to withstand and harness it all. Ange’s current body was still just a plant construct, modified in countless ways, but its foundation remained unchanged.
The crystalline coating on the surface could make his body sturdier, yet it didn’t strengthen his joints. Without transformation, Ange’s melee abilities were weak, which was why he kept the first stolen Star God’s Body for himself.
With a Subordinate Origin body, infinite energy, and a resilient soul, Ange had the confidence to go toe-to-toe with this Mourning Bone Dragon—unless...
As waves of soul soundwaves battered him, Ange noticed his Star God’s Body disintegrating, fragmenting and flaking off layer by layer like sandstone.
"Hmm?" Ange tilted his head before swiftly switching to Black Crystal Transformation, bracing his arms.
The Mourning Bone Dragon’s claw already struck, slamming into Ange and sending him flying like a bead.
"What kind of attack is this? How is it able to shatter your Star God’s Body?" Negris asked in disbelief.
Ange flipped midair, planting his feet firmly against the direction of his flight, crouching to absorb the force and stabilize himself.
"An energy wave, oscillation." Ange replied before aggressively sprinting toward the Mourning Bone Dragon.
Negris grimaced and said, "Oscillation? Then they must know Star God’s Body inside out. Using oscillation to dismantle it—this is bad. That means you can’t use Star God’s Body anymore. How long can Black Crystal Transformation last?"
Ange’s Dragon God Transformation was already limitless in duration, but he rarely used Black Crystal Transformation and wasn’t sure how long it could hold.
"Six... minutes." Ange responded one word at a time, dodging each of the Mourning Bone Dragon’s attacks during every pause, successfully advancing to the dragon’s face—Space Solidification.
The Mourning Bone Dragon and Ange were both frozen within the confines of a spatially solidified zone. As solidification took effect, scales rippled across Ange’s body as he swiftly shifted into Dragon God Transformation.
However, the Mourning Bone Dragon’s large frame meant that its elongated tail extended outside the solidified area, swinging freely.
In front of it, countless Dark Element Energy Spheres densely accumulated and became immobilized.
Seeing these energy spheres, the Mourning Bone Dragon couldn’t hold back its anger and let out an infuriated soul shriek: "Do you have no original moves? You keep copying mine!"
It roared while fiercely struggling.
"It’s Southern Crown." Negris instantly discerned the identity of the force inhabiting the Mourning Bone Dragon, recognizing the signature Dark Element Energy Spheres that Southern Crown once used. However, these weren’t truly Southern Crown’s techniques—it was the method of Dark Origin.
Seven seconds later, the Dark Element Energy Spheres completely filled the space between them. At this moment, the solidified space fractured with cracking sounds, and countless Dark Element Energy Spheres blasted onto the Mourning Bone Dragon’s body.
"Why did you release them so quickly? You usually charge them for longer." Negris questioned Ange.
Space Solidification paired with low-level magic essentially relied on quantity; the greater the buildup, the stronger the power. Ange would normally charge for twenty to thirty seconds, whereas this time he only charged for seven.
"It broke free." Ange replied. This was the first time he encountered an enemy capable of breaking out of his Space Solidification.
After the Dark Element Energy Spheres finished blasting, the Mourning Bone Dragon’s head looked merely coarse now, like it had been shot-blasted, only removing a layer of "paint."
The furious Mourning Bone Dragon lunged forward, its massive jaws snapping.
Ange kicked hard, propelling himself to an even higher altitude.
A flash of red light, and a blazing red beam shot up from the ground, striking the Mourning Bone Dragon. A booming voice echoed across the sky: "Red Star Flash!"
"Roar!" An even louder sound exploded as the enraged Mourning Bone Dragon turned direction, lunging toward the source of the red beam on the ground.
Negris finally realized what was happening and exclaimed urgently, "No! Its skeleton is too massive. The damage is dispersed across its entire body; Red Star Flash didn’t break through its defenses."
"Truth lies within cannon range! Truth Cannon!" A beam resembling a Star Burst—first expanding into a ring, then contracting sharply—was unleashed in a dazzling flash of light, blasting toward the Mourning Bone Dragon.
The dragon’s body lit up at the impact point, the light spreading across its form. Eventually, its entire figure brightened before fading again, distributing the damage across itself evenly.
Feeling helpless, Ange clasped his hands behind his back, gathering a formidable surge of energy, and roared with his soul: "King—"
If you can’t win, call reinforcements.
The Mourning Bone Dragon, which was darting toward Red Star, paused and turned to see Ange. Upon seeing him standing there with energy radiating behind his back, awareness clicked, and it abandoned its pursuit of Red Star and Walker, redirecting its fury toward Ange.
It bellowed angrily, "Stealing my Southern Crown Strike again, you thief!"
