Chapter 1572 - 1133: Couldn’t It Be Just the Primordial God?
Chapter 1572: Chapter 1133: Couldn’t It Be Just the Primordial God?
Negris picked up a handful of rubble, and said doubtfully, "Is this an Ancient God’s corpse? Doesn’t look like it. What kind of Ancient God would look this shattered?"
Anthony also grabbed a handful, examined it briefly, and said, "Can’t tell what part it is. It doesn’t even have the texture of a living organism. Could it be the shell? Speaking of which, we don’t seem to have seen any Ancient Gods here, except Mawar."
The Silent Magic Vine Mawar was the first Ancient God they’d encountered here, but it was so weak that it barely left a lasting impression.
Originally, they thought the Lord of Omniscience was also one of the Ancient Gods, but later realized it wasn’t. It was just an ancient sea serpent that lived too long and earned people’s worship, eventually igniting Divine Fire and becoming one of the Gods.
Negris responded, "Oh yeah, there is one. Mawar is so weak that I almost forgot it was an Ancient God. But that’s normal. The majority of Ancient Gods are either birthed by Chaos Mist or nurtured by the Tree of Ten Thousand Realms. This place doesn’t even have Ancient Godlight; no Ancient Gods here makes sense."
The Iron Scale Cleaner was nurtured by the Tree of Ten Thousand Realms, but technically it was birthed before Ancient Godlight exploded. Then it grew large by munching on the bark and leaves of the Divine Tree. At its roots, it still came from Ancient Godlight.
"Except..." Anthony and Negris exchanged glances and then said simultaneously, "Except for the Primordial God."
Most Ancient Gods are connected to Ancient Godlight. Only the Time-Space Ancient Dragon, Abyssal Big Mouth, Dark Origin, Hole Bug, and Ange are exceptions. Time-Space Ancient Dragon and the others originate from the laws and principles of the Void. Ange evolved entirely on its own.
The Monarch was unique; while it also upgraded itself, its Primordial Body originated from Chaos Mist and was still linked to Ancient Godlight.
Moreover, apart from Ange, other Primordial Gods relied on Chaos Mist to survive. Without Chaos Mist, they’d need to autonomously devolve like the Time-Space Ancient Dragon—otherwise, they’d starve to death.
So ultimately, apart from Ange, no Ancient God can entirely dissociate from Ancient Godlight. Without Ancient Godlight, there wouldn’t be so many Ancient Gods.
"Hiss—could this be a Primordial God? No way, right?" Negris gasped in shock.
The Great Speaker they were escorting finally couldn’t hold back anymore and asked curiously, "I understand ’Primordial,’ but what do you mean by ’Primordial God’?"
Anthony chuckled and said, "You want to know? But you’re a hostage now. That’s not something you should be asking."
"I..." The Great Speaker suddenly felt a strong temptation to break free from his restraints and slam Anthony’s face into his skull. It was just an act, but Anthony took it way too seriously.
But the moment he had that thought, he immediately felt a gaze locking onto him, making his soul shudder. Turning his head, he saw Ange silently staring at him, which startled him into reflexively shifting his gaze away.
However, moving his gaze away didn’t feel right. It seemed too submissive. He wanted to turn back but found himself too afraid. Feeling a tension stronger than even when facing his Lord, he had no choice but to glare at Anthony instead.
Anthony spread his hands, looking smugly punchable.
The Great Speaker looked at him helplessly. After Ange finally diverted his gaze, he breathed a sigh of relief and cautiously moved closer to Anthony, whispering, "Who... who exactly is he?"
Anthony whispered back, "Take a guess."
"I..." The Great Speaker was so frustrated he couldn’t speak, because if Anthony wanted to provoke someone, no one aside from Lightning’s sharp tongue could endure him.
Fortunately, Negris couldn’t bear the scene and took the initiative to explain, "Primordial Gods are those super-powerful entities birthed by the forces of the Void’s laws. Theoretically, Ancient Godlight counts as one type of Primordial God."
"Uh, this thing is on the same level as Ancient Godlight?" The Great Speaker, flabbergasted, pointed at the Phantom Rock on the ground and asked incredulously.
"Of course not. Even Primordial Gods have levels. Ancient Godlight is in a league of its own. But even other Primordial Gods are universally unique from our perspective. They’re born from the most primordial forces of the Void, and their power often depends on how much Origin Power they can wield. If their power diminishes, Ancient Godlight could theoretically be worn down and killed," Negris explained.
The Great Speaker stared at Negris in astonishment, feeling that this dragon spoke with such casual certainty—as if it had actually worn down and killed an Ancient Godlight before.
"So is this really a Primordial God?" The Great Speaker looked over at Anthony and asked.
Both Anthony and Negris reflexively looked at Ange, who was at this moment using the Illusory Rock Foam and Immortal Essence Concentrated Bug Ash Liquid.
Nowadays, the bugs Hemel raised were enjoying special treatment. They used to be burned to ash with any random flame, but now they were roasted with Undying Divine Fire. The bug ash burnt this way was pure essence and far more effective than using ordinary fire.
But as soon as the Illusory Rock Foam was applied to it, nothing happened.
Ange tilted his head doubtfully.
"What’s wrong? Not an Ancient God? Did you get it wrong?" Negris asked in surprise.
This was an exceptionally rare occasion because Ange, silent as he usually was, had never been wrong before. Don’t be fooled by Negris’ constant questioning—he just wanted to start a conversation.
If no one initiated a dialogue, with Ange’s personality, he’d fall silent altogether and mentally exhaust everyone around him.
Ange shook his head, indicating he hadn’t made a mistake, and then started circling the Pioneering Camp, completely forgetting the reason they’d come here.
Anthony and Negris quickly followed suit, leaving the Great Speaker behind. Ursman and the others exchanged blank looks. Ursman hesitated and said, "You’re a hostage..."
"Then hurry up and escort me. You don’t expect me to walk on my own, do you?" The Great Speaker suddenly gained a bit of hostage awareness.
"Oh, oh, oh. Fine, want me to kick you along?" Ursman asked.
"You... your tone is weird. Do you know me?" The Great Speaker asked suspiciously.
"I don’t. How could I know you? Nope, first time meeting you. Absolutely don’t know you," Ursman denied three times and then escorted the Great Speaker forward.
Meanwhile, Ange continued walking ahead with his head down, his thoughts sweeping over the ground like an omnipresent brush. Not only the surface Phantom Rock, but even underneath it wasn’t spared.
Negris asked curiously, "Ange, what are you looking for?"
Ange replied, "Something with meat."
"You mean these Phantom Rock fragments don’t have meat, so they can’t be used for Rebirth? That doesn’t make sense; you used my scales to grow my body, and scales don’t have meat either. Didn’t that work just fine?" Negris asked in confusion.
Ange reached over, plucked a scale off Negris, and pointed at the blood thread at its base, saying, "With meat."
Negris clutched the spot where the scale had just been pulled and roared, "Can’t you just explain instead of grabbing my scales?!"
Ange had demonstrated the most straightforward way why dragon scales could be used to grow a body, while these Phantom Rocks could not. They needed to find a fragment of Phantom Rock that came with blood and flesh.
"What part of the body is this supposed to be? Why does it have no trace of flesh at all? Even if it’s petrified!" Negris grumbled. Then they walked on, reaching a small depression hundreds of meters outside the camp.
Hearing the commotion, a disheveled girl with lifeless eyes peeked out of the pit and looked expectantly in Ange’s direction, saying, "Is it Yaya? Did you bring food?"
Negris whispered, "She’s blind? Look at her hand—is that a Phantom Rock sculpture? Isn’t Phantom Rock said to be brittle and tough? How can she carve something out of it?"
