Chapter 1571: Chapter 1132: Want to Kill All the Cats in the World?
When you’re unable to make a decision, the instinct of intelligent life will make you want to escape, and the Great Speaker is no exception.
On one side is his Lord, who granted him power, and on the other side are the intelligent beings he has nurtured over many years, those who revere him and view him as both master and father.
Due to generational changes, the Great Speaker really doesn’t feel much attachment to the other creatures in the Divine Light Alliance, including those other speakers. He’s lost count of how many generations those speakers have gone through. The current ones are merely the twentieth or thirtieth generation descendants of his old companions, and he wouldn’t even recognize them without a roster.
But the humans and elves of Lea and Table Mountain have become emotional reflections to him. It’s like raising a cat, which makes it easy to have a liking for all the cats in the world. Lea and the others are like the reflections of all the intelligent beings in the Divine Light Alliance within the Great Speaker’s heart.
These people worship him, fear him, adore him, and rely on him. And now, his Lord wants to execute all the cats in the world?
Anthony cruelly revealed a truth: without his protection, the entire Divine Light Alliance, and even the Friel Empire, all living beings would perish. And since what gets plundered is the soul’s consciousness, they wouldn’t even have the chance to reincarnate as undead—it would be a complete and utter extinction.
On one hand is his Lord, and on the other hand is all the cats in the world, including a particular elf cat who gets worried whenever he shows signs of fading and goes off to seek people to console him. How is he supposed to choose?
"You... you’re good at persuasion," the Great Speaker struggled to say. "In the Illusory Rock Plane, there’s a type of rock that changes colors and reflects different hues from different angles. It’s quite marvelous. It’s used to construct teleportation arrays that can transmit across incredibly long distances. You guys can go check it out."
Anthony nodded. "Understood. More for peace of mind, really. Everything you’re saying is forced upon you. All right, everyone go beat him up!"
The Great Speaker suddenly widened his eyes, only to see Ursman, Red Star, and the Truth Cannon dropping their ultimate moves and charging forward to assault him.
Red Star and the others aren’t exactly close combat professions, and Ursman, being a Wise Man, relies solely on intellect. But what they lack in technique, they make up for in the durability of their bodies. Subordinate Origins — three of them, no less — made the scene akin to long-legged metal titans stomping on a skeleton frame. The sight was pure ferociousness.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Despite there being no air in the Void, their battle still generated waves of energy shock bursts that echoed throughout the scene. With one against three, the Great Speaker surprisingly didn’t lose ground?
Anthony couldn’t help but wipe his sweat. "I underestimated him. These guys... what a waste it was giving them Subordinate Origins."
Although Ursman and the others weren’t close combat professions, the Great Speaker still refrained from using his coffin. The body within the coffin hasn’t been fully unveiled yet, but even if the contents had half his own power, it would be a serious headache.
The fight dragged on for ages, with neither side able to overpower the other. Ultimately, when nothing else worked, Ange’s gaze locked onto the Great Speaker. The Great Speaker’s movements immediately fell into disarray, and Red Star’s elbow struck him square in the face.
Correction: Red Star does barely qualify as close combat. While his mage level is unimpressive — mediocre at best — his teaching skills are exceptional. At a Magic Academy, he’d definitely be considered a Truth Instructor. His students quickly surpassed his magical proficiency, especially someone like Auburnli.
Therefore, during usual battles, in order not to hamper his students’ efforts—mainly to avoid losing in the elements competition—he developed a habit of donning heavy armor. He’d charge forward with a Starlight Shield in his left hand and a Wand in his right, its tip radiating dazzling red light.
Enhanced with a variety of buffing spells from his students, his charging presence was terrifying. Carrying the Scepter of Red Light, it was easy for enemies to get distracted by the glowing tip of his wand, only to be taken out by the concentrated attacks of the wizards behind him.
Red Star’s role functions essentially as a heavy-armored warrior drawing enemy fire.
The elbow strike was actually a shield bash. But since Red Star didn’t have a shield in hand, he delivered a solid elbow. The Great Speaker stumbled backward and noticed Red Star’s right hand crashing down, chaining the shield bash with a hammer strike.
The Great Speaker exerted force and leaned back drastically, countering with a single kick. Boom!
The collision of fists and feet exploded, sending shockwaves through the atmosphere. Red Star’s hand was kicked away, and as the Great Speaker prepared to follow up, a tremor of fear locked his heart. Alarmed, he retreated, only to be kicked by Ursman.
Ursman lives up to being a Wise Man; even in combat, his high intelligence stands out. His mastery of timing, angles, and positioning is extremely crafty, nearly guaranteeing his strikes land each time.
But, unfortunately, his attacks are too light and deal minimal damage. Instead, they noticeably annoy the Great Speaker.
With Ange’s interference, the three Star Gods exerted enormous efforts to finally subdue the Great Speaker, prompting Anthony to grumble, "You guys are awful! Such a waste of Star God’s Bodies on the lot of you."
Turning to the Great Speaker, Anthony declared, "All right, we’ve caught you. Now, tell us, where is your Lord? Is it the Illusory Rock Plane? Speak!"
The Great Speaker, watching Anthony’s display, replied bitterly, "I feel like you’re not doing this to give me peace of mind. You’re just looking for an excuse to beat me up."
Anthony awkwardly rubbed his nose, wondering how he’d been found out.
Symbolically binding him, the three dragged the Great Speaker along with them, transporting to the so-called Illusory Rock Plane.
The Illusory Rock Plane is famous for its prismatic rocks. These rocks, as cores for teleportation arrays, are unparalleled, enabling transmission distances that can extend three to six times farther.
However, teleportation arrays using these rocks as cores are exceedingly rare due to the difficulty in processing Illusory Rock. As tough as diamonds yet brittle, it’s impossible to sculpt.
The only feasible method involves grinding the rock slowly and carefully, making large-scale pieces almost impossible. Therefore, teleportation arrays utilizing Illusory Rock are always small, unable to transmit bulky items. However, they can be used to create space passages for projection.
Previously, the Great Speaker relied on such a teleportation array to establish a space passage and project himself back into that chaotic space to seek aid. The intermediate teleportation array used was located within the Illusory Rock Plane.
Arriving at the Illusory Rock Plane, the group found a Pioneer Camp here—established by adventurers heading to new planes for exploration. Now, only miners remained, extracting Illusory Rock.
Apart from its use in constructing teleportation arrays, Illusory Rock’s ever-changing hues make it stunningly beautiful. The same stone appears different from various angles, and even chipping away a small corner can change its color, a truly magical phenomenon.
Some miners have settled here permanently, making their livelihoods from harvesting Illusory Rock. Striking fortune with a particularly vibrant piece leads to instant riches.
However, as they stepped out of the teleportation array and set foot onto Illusory Rock, Ange immediately froze, bent down to pick up a piece of Illusory Rock, studied it for a moment, and said, "Ancient God, corpse."
