Chapter 1529: Chapter 1090: Divine Seal
Ange had been very quiet lately, no matter how Negris and the others tested his patience, he just stood there watching, while both hands kept busy with his own tasks.
At the moment, Ange’s arms had completely vanished. His left hand was plunged into the Holy Kingdom, and every patch of cultivable land there had already been developed, leaving no room for further expansion.
However, ever since acquiring Chaos Mist, Ange found himself with an endless list of things he could do. Just restoring the crops of the Chaos Plane required an immense amount of space. With merely a small trace of Chaos Mist, he could manifest a seed or two, which would then produce a whole multitude of seeds.
But a single seed produces a mound, and a thousand seeds produce a thousand mounds. Ange had collected billions of seeds from the Master Plane of the Chaos Plane, and to restore all of them, he would need several Master Plane-sized spaces at minimum.
So for now, he was simply cultivating only the useful crops, gathering their seeds, and then clearing them to make way for the next set.
While cultivation can cycle through rotation, to actually grow the crops requires vast tracts of land and an extensive variety of species.
As he created the Dimensional Space, Ange stumbled upon an interesting observation: the greater the biodiversity on a plane—the variety of plant and animal species—the more stable its ecosystem. Negris referred to this phenomenon as biodiversity.
Take honeybees for example—they gather nectar and pollinate flowers. If one day the temperature drops drastically and all the honeybees freeze to death, what happens to the flowers that rely on them for pollination?
If there’s another species, say butterflies, that also collect nectar and pollinate, then there’s no risk of extinction for the flowers. But what if the butterflies freeze to death too?
Then there would still be moths, flies, gadflies, ladybugs, and other pollinating insects. The more species capable of pollination, the more stable the ecosystem becomes.
Thus, Ange was now deliberately cultivating a wide variety of crops, hoping that in the future, there would be more "interesting" things to enjoy.
But all of this demanded more space—the Holy Kingdom was already chock-full. Ange glanced around, left and right, and finally set his sights on Kram. "It’s your turn."
"Why on earth do I have to deal with Void Folding?" Kram grumbled. "Fine, folding is folding, but you’re using it to grow crops? I..." Kram didn’t even know how to continue.
It felt so demeaning. For a lofty Plane Consciousness like himself to be forced to use an extraordinary ability for something as pedestrian as this—something any farmer wielding a hoe could do—why bother with Void Folding at all?
Ange gave him a strangely indifferent look, then quipped, "Because you can."
Little Ghost had imparted spatial knowledge to Kram, so he had become capable of folding Ange’s hands into another space, similar to what Little Ghost could do. Only beings of their caliber could wield such power.
If you know how to do it, then do it. What’s the point of not being able to grow crops?
Ignoring Kram’s grumbles, Ange’s hand flew within an array, gesturing for Silent Magic Vine Mawani to make space by raising itself a bit higher off the ground.
Mawani reluctantly complied, muttering, "My lord, there’s no one left here. Without ’silence,’ I’m starving."
Silent Magic Vine wasn’t actually a plant—it was an entity similar to Shay, an abstract-being that fed on specific emotions for growth. While Shay consumed fear, Mawani fed on ’silence.’
Ever since Ange commandeered the array, not a single living soul remained inside to supply emotional energy. With time, Mawani had started to feel famished.
Nodding in acknowledgment, Ange grabbed Mawani firmly, snapping off one of its vines and preparing to send it over.
Where were creatures embodying ’silence’ found in abundance? In the Undead City. Emotional value could only be provided by sentient beings, and the Undead City just happened to house tens of thousands of ’silent’ sentient creatures.
One hand sent it over, while Ange instinctively reached to catch it with his other hand—forgetting that his other hand was still plunged into the Holy Kingdom. This send-and-receive motion unexpectedly generated a powerful pull, attempting to draw his two hands together.
Automatically resisting, Ange yanked forcefully in opposite directions, inadvertently tearing open a fist-sized Devouring Abyss before him. The Abyss—a dark hole—unleashed tremendous suction, ravenously consuming everything around it.
The sudden turn of events left everyone stunned, even Gulalata, who had just cried out, "Surrender!" Everyone turned their horror-stricken gazes toward Ange, staring at the ominous hole in his hand.
What in the world was going on? Was surrender not enough to spare them from harm—was he planning to swallow them whole with Origin Power?
Ange realized what had happened and immediately let go of both hands, causing the Devouring Abyss before him to dissipate.
After pausing for a moment, Ange cautiously picked up Mawani again and slowly began withdrawing his right hand.
Another brief pause—nothing else occurred. Only then did Ange carefully retract his left hand as well.
Finally, Negris could no longer contain himself and asked, "What just happened? What are you up to now?"
Though Ange often caused big stirrings, occurrences as abrupt as this were rare. It was like singing songs around a hotpot, only for someone to suddenly conjure a black hole—it was downright terrifying.
"I..." Ange opened his mouth, but didn’t know how to explain. He hadn’t fully grasped what had transpired himself. Somehow, by using Little Ghost and Kram’s powers in tandem, he had accidentally pulled out a Devouring Abyss.
The oddest thing was how effortless it felt. Given that Ange’s main body wasn’t present here, utilizing Origin Power shouldn’t have been so easy.
Without transforming, the only Origin Power he could easily access was the Dark Origin. Thanks to the omnipresence of Dark Element in the void, and his magical prowess trained since childhood, he could act as a Dark Element artillery with ease.
Devouring Origin, on the other hand, was the hardest to wield because it required an immense Power of Devour to have any effect. Without sufficient force, Devouring Origin was practically useless—its effects wouldn’t go beyond what a fragmented Subordinate Origin might achieve, merely bending space a little before dissipating entirely.
Yet now, with a faint tug, he had pulled forth a fully formed Devouring Abyss. It hadn’t just startled everyone—Ange himself was shaken.
Don’t be fooled by the abyss’s modest fist-size. If hurled into a plane, it would begin consuming surrounding matter endlessly, growing stronger with time until the entire plane was devoured.
An abyss capable of annihilating a plane had emerged from a simple tug? Ange was baffled and prepared to test it again, but Negris, sensing his intention, quickly interrupted, "Stop! Deal with this first. This guy seems to have a Soul Connection—otherwise, those Undead Soldiers couldn’t possibly fight so desperately for him. But he’s alive."
A living person couldn’t form a Soul Connection with Undead. The most they could establish was a Loyalty Oath. But a Loyalty Oath only ensured ’devotion,’ not reckless self-sacrifice. It wasn’t a binding dominion.
A lack of capability wasn’t a betrayal of loyalty, but the difference between fighting fiercely and merely going through the motions could be vast in critical moments.
Ange’s thoughts swept across Klalata’s body in examination, and he suddenly reached out to grab at him. With a grasp, Ange pulled forth a peculiar imprint.
"A divine seal?" Negris gasped in astonishment.
